That thing actually still sounds so GOOD!
So crisp
sounds amazing
I don't think I've ever heard a 250 motocross bike that sounded bad.
That thing … is a motocross bike
@@motoboy6666 no shit.
Steve Lamson; What a great dude! One of Nor Cal’s greatest Champions!!!
Still a great looking bike to this day despite all of its problems
Chiodi didn’t have any problem winning World Championships 💡
@teamflanneloutdoors5631 Those guys didn't have their hands tied with the production rule, so the sky was the limit.
Steve needs to be around in the sport still. He's great.
Sounds tight and responsive lol jetting sounds absolutely perfect
I remember that thing. It still sounds pretty crispy!!
In 2003 I raced a borrow 2002 husky cr125 for a few months while I was waiting on parts and funds to rebuild my 02 yz250f that blew up. That bike was sweet, I absolutely loved it. Everything on it seemed top notch. If parts availability wouldn’t be an issue I’d buy one now.
What a treat having Lammy there to ride it too. He's a Legend. You guys made it sound the way a 2-stroke should. Well done!
So great seeing Steve back on a bike
That bike sounds good! Lammy Rules!
Always remember him riding that with the DKNY GRAPHICS 👌🏼
The first time I went to hangtown we parked next to Lamson. He was riding the husky 125. It was the first first time I saw a legit pro in person, and I remember thinking "this guy isn't human."
Same story but for riverfront mx. He had both bikes out and everyone got off the track to watch him. He blew my mind with how fast he was. Came back to the pits and he was trying to sell his 250 practice bike to my buddy. Coulda been this one.
@@grahamholyfield8415 I had some good times at riverfront and E-Street! I liked the night races at riverfront. I bet he was impressive there. That track was suer flat and really fast every time I rode there
@@grahamholyfield8415fast as fk when everybody pulls off to watch
I've got a 02 125, it's a awesome bike.
Thanks brings back the old days.
I seem to recall that bike around the PNW in recent years. Fun to see you guys swing a leg over it and share some stories. Motor sounds nice and crispy!
I remember when he came to Englishtown and snapped his handlebars off just jumping never crashed. Cool looking bike still. Great video too!
Hey, if those Marzocchi forks are the same as a 2008 husky cr 125, modify the mid-valve travel to be double what it is. I race my 125 in the woods and had been told how that would help with headshake and deflections, and it did. Steve from Keytime motorsports did it for me
It sounds a bit like a 500 that you can rev out 😍
You should talk about the power valves on the transfer ports....... but that aside - I rode one back in the day and it made my 1999 YZ 250 feel like a works bike with the best suspension ever. The Husky was all over the track and it hurt everyone that spent time on it and tried to go fast.
huh?
JT is hilarious when he describes riding this piece…
@chriscampbell867 Ya JT talked all that stuff about the bikes, funny how Preston won a race and Lammy had some top 10 finishes.Look at JTs results in other seasons they weren't any better.Yes the bike had issues but my point is he wouldn't have done any better on any other bike!
@@359Joey probably right, I just enjoyed hearing him describe how it fell apart, also the inner workings of the team stories. Questionable funding from Italy 😉
@@359Joey^^^THIS^^^
Lost all respect after.
Thank you for a great interview!
Wow this is the first I’ve seen lamson in 20years. I still remember my first national that I went to. Budds creek 1996. Lamson and McGrath were in the 2 Honda box trucks. Lammy’s cr125 was the best bike I’ve ever heard. My family still has conversations about it sounding so crisp that day.
Looks and sounds great
Legend
Hi Steve! Good to see you’re doing well!
Yeah I used to ride with JT at hard Rock in Ocala when he had the 125, his father Frank is the best technician on motorcycles anywhere
JT didn't ride the Husky 125 only 250.
Anyone tell me, any media outlet in this sport that makes such quality videos of great bikes (test rides them) like Ping and the whiskey crew? So freaking cool. Love this Ping!
Damn that sounds on point and strong. Sounds better than some modern day 2strokes 🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲
Badass looking old school husky 👍👍
In 1995 i had all Lamsons replica gear, number 5 on my 95 CR125, and i just used to race around pretending to be him. Between him and Doug Henry i was all in on that factory Honda team. I had it in for Mcgrath because he was just so damn good, but i love him too.
Love the old dude’s 2 strokes rule
Ping, great 👍 content! Lammy looking good and smiling! Guys like him do not get enough credit for what they did. He was a great pro, you as well Ping! Thank you for the content!
Good to see lammy!!!
I love this bike ❤🔥
In a sea of Jeremy fans
I was a Lammy Fan
👍😎👍
There is also one at Bills Motorcycles Plus in Salem Oregon unless this is the same bike.
What a cool treat here. Seeing Lammy ride today is very cool, and that bike has always been thought of as a real turd. This test makes it seem maybe not so bad. Thanks to you guys for this video.
Gorgeous bike. Them motors ripped. Pulled many hole shots in Hare Scrambles with the WR250 (6speed).
I was bummed I could not find an 02’, but bought a new leftover 01’ reasonably.
Husky Bucks absolutely kicked ass. And softened the blow for a Moto guy racing a year old model in my first full season of Off-Road‼️
I had a 250 WR from this generation and it too suffered from head shake. The motor was great thought and I never had any reliability issues.
Good to see Lammy back on a bike.
"Back when husky was still Italian husky, A real Husqvarna" - The only real Husqvarna is a swedish Husqvarna. These were rebranded cagiva's just like husky today are rebranded ktm's😅
that has a nice bark to it. Love the sound of those old 250 s .braaaaaaapp
I have the 2002 still sitting in my garage still! Still my favorite 2 stroke I have had.
Another great video mate, love your content 👍
It's actually a Cagiva
Is that the same for the WR360’s?
@@WaveformV1.0 i think so. I'd have to go double check to be sure. But I THINK Cagiva owned it until they sold to KTM
Thanks Captain Obvious 🤜🏻
@@teamflanneloutdoors5631 you are very welcome...as is your genius Glutemous 😂✊
@@MotoMemeMediabmw owned them for a couple of years inbetween Cagiva and ktm, but they didn’t do any development they just reproduced what cagiva had already done.
I remember when this was brand new here in Sweden, extremely good looking for its time.
Super cool! Thanks!!
Beautiful bike, i think at the time husqvarna was ahead of anyone else when it comes to design and how it looks. Love the colors too. It was my favorite looking bike when i was a kid. Got myself a brand new 2006 125cc. Damn, i wish it would of been as good as it looked. Coming from KTM the build quality was a huge disappointment, and the weight distribution was sketchy, lots of weird stuff happening while riding. I was kind of scared to ride it.
I think they look better than most of today’s bikes. Especially when they came out with the red/gray/white color scheme.
I still have a ‘97 Husqvarna CR250
An absolute rocket!
I would say this bike and the BMW versions set the look of the modern shroud and numberplate look.
Yeah they pioneered the styling
Steve Lamson … Legend
Have the CR125 2002. Just had the top end rebuilt. Setup for enduro 15 years ago and has been sitting around since mostly
The cannondale Moto 440 quad was a badass race quad too way better than the dirt bike version. Nick denoble was riding a cannondale moto 440 last weekend at Briarcliff legends atv motocross race it was badass. But ken deal and howie cawley, dean reahoff have those cannondale motors fixed up great and run good and strong now and build great looking moto bikes and quads with them just somethin different
yep , things opposite , like my hodaka , maico from the 70's they still run like hell but hang on lol
Used to ride that exact bike for ferracci. Smooth rocket..
Sounds healthy
I wouldn't say 'backwards'......I'd say 'old school'
Let's see a race with Carson
Pro Circuit 304 sound ❤❤
Bark it Ping
I still believe most issues were suspension set up related. The Italian factory teams had super suspension techs that knew that equipment. Those bikes were all many years evolved Cagiva DNA.
@robertaccioHVA Exactly. If Ferracci would have put the right people on that suspension the bike would have been much more competitive.
Love that bike !
2001 ponca city.. 1970s white Cadillac rolled up with two bedframes frenched into the trunk and the roof as a loading rack with this very motorcycle tied down on it.. after all these years.. was that really Lammy? More so I want to know what happened to that Cadillac!!!
local pro where i live in Nor Cal raced a Cagiva wmx 250 and that thing ripped, same DNA as this generation of Husky
Did You say You Shake your Head , or the Bike Shakes it’s Head oh Did The Dog Wagg the Dog 😬😂
I would love to ride with Steve Lambson, and Scott Summers...
No one forgets Lammy
My 1983 ATC250R had the sprocket on the right that way.
53mm Fork Lowers
Those are 50mm
I rode the same year bike that thing had the worst head shake that would rip your hands off then my friend took it out the glamis and it blew up just riding from the loop to Oldsmobile
I still have my 2001 husky with the same graphics.
I wAnt Factory Phil's Chaparelle YZ
I could be wrong but I believe the engine in these was built by what was formerly Cagiva after they had been bought out. Cagiva made some impressively powerful 2-strokes in the 80's and 90's
I had a '01 250cr that the plastic gas tank split right at the rubber mount. Bike was never crashed. What a fire hazard. The importer/dealer would not replace the tank. So I got rid of it. Be careful riding this thing. I would recommend fireproof pants and jersey if you do. It is a shame they labeled the Cagiva with the Husqvarna name.
That thing barks 👍
I think I would have to pick RC`s 2001 KX250,, but I love the husky also. I think that’s because I LOVE all the smokers,,LOL
i remember watching that suoercross and whoever won on that thing the team owner paid 1 milllion dollars and travis preston said on the podium idk where the team owner is but he owes me ALOT of money!!! 😂
I had a buddy that actually had one of his bikes. Dude use to rip on it.
hell i miss the early 2000s 2 stroke sound they just dont sound like this anymore
Awesome 😎
Just curious how much it sold for at auction. Probably a lot less than it cost to build it!
Sold for like 13K, i know because my bid of 10K was beat! Also there is no rebuilding this bike, 90% of those parts dont exist anymore.
bills motorcycles plus in Salem Oregon has a old pro factory bike also. believe it's a 1999 or something close to that
Would a steering stabilizer have helped this bike, or was the geometry just too wacked for it to be effective? I always had a soft spot for these underdog-type bikes like this one and the Cannondale, linkless KTM's etc....
Can the old warhorse keep up with a 2025 250f ?
Gotta let Carson brown rip it lol
It looks big.
First of all, Steve Lamson’s the real f-ing deal…one of the top racers from his time period, he got caught under the shadow of Jeremy McGrath who raced for factory Honda along side him, but search for _1996 Motocross Des Nations from Jerez, Spain_ & *WATCH* the 500/125 moto where Jeff Emig got the hole shot on a Factory Kawasaki USA KX500 & watch Steve Lampson catch him, pass him & beat him on a steel frame 1996 American Honda Factory Team CR125R (& Sebastian Tortelli from Team Green France caught, passed & beat Emig on a KX125) aside from that, in 2001 & 2002, Husqvarna wasn’t what it is today (over 20 years after their motorcycle division was absorbed by KTM) but…speaking as a retired pro who’s raced Factory KX125s, Factory team YZ125’s & YZ250’s, Honda CR125’s & CR250’s & Keith Johnson’s Factory Cannondale MX400. what Steve is saying is that pushing the 2001/2002 Husqvarna’s past 70% either the bike couldn’t handle it, or the bike wasn’t engineered well enough to handle him past 70%…on his American Honda bikes, he never had to push them more than 70%; the Showa forks that’s been revolved & rebuilt for what he wanted were more than enough to handle the level he was pushing them… the Husqvarna took an additional 3 weeks of testing & setup & the best point they got that bike to was “alright, I guess this’ll have to do”
Lamson earned back-to-back championships when real men raced MX. These days, these kids are all too happy to just get through the first turn in one piece, then cruise to the checkers so they can cash their checks and buy a bunch of useless crap. Lammy raced when riders thought nothing of T-boning someone just for the position. If a 17 year-old Hannah showed up on the gate these days, he'd show these kids what real racing is all about.
I remember lamson busting his femur right in front of me at San Diego sx
You can see the aftermath of the crash and Lammy laying on the ground after that wreck on CZcams. How did he actually crash?
@359Joey if my memory serves me right it was a step on step off and he clipped it and went over the bars.
@nathandowns369 There was a whoop section leading into the step on/off then a 180 right corner.
Is it a 2001 or 2003? The fork sticker says 2003 but maybe that was just the season
02.Even at the auction it had that 2003 tag.
Same model bike featured in "XXX" with Vin Diesel if anyone remembers where he tries to ride away from Columbian drug lords
Didn’t vin diesel jump this bike over a barn or something?
PING! Ill bet money you have no idea what the 2C pipe stands for?
That bike wasnt a real Husky either. That was a Cagiva, just branded Husqvarna. The last Swedish Husky was like 1988.
Dying to know how much money Steve Lamson, Travis Preston and JT$ are still owed from this whole fiasco 😂
sounds like a 500
memOry mOvie triple x 2001
So great seeing Steve back on a bike
