    The "Light Wood" is probably Bass wood. It is denser than Balsa but is light colored, usually clear grained and easy to carve. It grows throughout most of the eastern united states.

    thanks to the compressed laser beam, even if not adopting the double laser, it is able to cut even thick materials (I easily cut the 10 mm multilayer). I cannot say that it is the best on the market but I don't think it has rivals for value for money

    Great video! I followed on both my Instagram accounts :). I'm actually researching lasers for two purposes...marking my knives (carbon steel) with my maker's mark...and polymer stippling for grips. It's interesting to me that you marked metal with this...as I wasn't expecting it. Do you happen to know if it will stipple polymer as well?

    So as you mentioned this should work with leather right? I want to have it cut all my leather templates out including the holes for sewing so all I have to do is stich it all up. Also have you used those rotory rollers with any laser engravers to do round objects?

    S9is great made hundreds of hours of solid wood ornaments the only thing I had to do was take off red plastic because I got tired off cleaning the laser- just wear protective glasses. I was concerned that I might be expecting too much out of this little laser. I milled my own wood to approximately 3/16". Used :pine, cedar, alder, dark and lite mahogany, paduke,maple,ipe all scrap laying around the shop. Had to make adjustments but that was expected.

    Thanks for the review, very helpful. you did a great job!!! I am a first time user and I just bought the SculpFun S9.
    Three questions:
    1-have you ever tried cutting 1/8" hardboard tempered panel?
    2-would it be o.k to use it?
    3- how long would be the max time to cut with the machine at 350mm/100% ? i was cutting a piece that took 10 min to cut , the laser look like it was getting weaker/strong/weaker... after two min so I paused it, rest one min and started and so on. I am afraid to burn the laser.

    • @TimberWood.Customs
      @TimberWood.Customs  Před 2 lety +1

      I definitely run things longer than 10 min so you should be fine. There isnt(that I’ve encountered) a max time limit to run it. And for the cutting of hardboard. I have never tried that and not sure what it is so you’d just have to get a sample piece and do test cuts on it

    Hi and thank you for the super helpful videos! I'm new at this and looking for the best laser for my purpose. It's for a small business use engraving wood mainly and need to do this in series. I'm very interested in the cutting function too. As I understand there's no homing on the S9 but it's included for the Ortur LM2. I'm really hesitant between those two machines at the moment but from different reviews, it also seems like the S9 has better precision at engraving and better cutting... Any recommendation please? Thanks

    I have the S6 Pro and what a machine. I have built an enclosure for mine with extraction and air assist. Just a tip. If you take out the green protective shield, you will find a metal piece with 4 holes. Remove this and stick (will superglue) it on the end of the green plastic and insert it back in. You will only need to clean the lens half as much. I found the green cylinder trapped the smoke and made the lens. Hope this helps you.

    • @TimberWood.Customs
      @TimberWood.Customs  Před 2 lety

      This laser may work for you. I would recommend the ortur laser master two pro over this machine. You can get an enclosure which I would definitely recommend to help with ventilation. All I have to say is definitely do a lot of research on the laser that you were going to get and watch lots of videos on how to use it. Then once you get your laser it will make it a lot easier to use it instead of just going in to it blind. Machines like this take lots of testing to know what settings to cut different materials at and engraving. Again do lots of research on the machine you think you’re going to buy before you actually buy it. Again I like the ortur laser master two pro I have a video on that and it is a really safe laser as it has lots of safety features.

  • @bruinflight1
    @bruinflight1 Před 2 lety

    Besides lifting the project wood off the table, is there any other way to reduce the collateral burn around the edges of the material? Maybe lower power with more passes and a layer of painters tape along the cut areas?

    • @TimberWood.Customs
      @TimberWood.Customs  Před 2 lety

      The more passes u add the more burning even if it’s lower power. And yes u can put painters tape but if u do something that has detail you’ll have to pull out every little piece of tape or if you need to cut then engrave then u risk messing up the engraving.
      You can also get an air assist that helps with blowing the smoke away to prevent burning

    Hi, Can this S9 cut PP material? How is the end result?

  • @medienmond
    @medienmond Před 2 lety +2

    Compare the geometry of the laser beam at 1m distance to a wall. You will nitice, the new lasers having a much better geometry of the beam, which is the result of them having 2 laser diodes inside, combining them with a optical system to the output. This better accuracy and the combined power of 2 diodes make the difference in cutting depth and speed, compared to lasers with only one diode and not so great geometry of the laser beam.

    Hi ,, there is a issue with the laser .. look carefully at around 5.35. You will notice that the cut in horizontal plane is much thinner (actually half) than the cuts in the vertical plane. This is because the claimed square beam pattern is nowhere near square and more a rectangle. This means cuts in the vertical planes need twice as many cuts as the horizontal. A bit of an annoyance.

For some of the cuts you showed, you might want to try 280 instead of 300 for the same number of passes and see if slowing down that little helps actually cuts without the extra pass.
