  • Using Constraints to Rig a Door in BLENDER 3D
    This Blender tutorial will show us how to use constraints to limit the rotation of an object in Blender. We will use the Pivot Constraint and the Limit Rotation Constraint to make a door act like a real-world door. This modeling and animation tutorial is about using constraints to limit the movement of an object in Blender.
    The pivot constraint locks the pivot point of an object even when the pivot point option is changed. If you want to lock the pivot point of an object, this mechanical rigging tutorial is what you're looking for.
    We will cover a few other tricks, like how to lock the rotation and location of an object in Blender. We will also talk about drivers and a few other tips.
    The second part of this tutorial is how to use a driver to control the rotation of the door with another object's location. That tutorial is available to all Patreon members here: / brandonsdrawings

    There are a lot of tutorials on how to do things in Blender but you covered it exactly the way it would need to be done for someone with a learning disability like myself. Thank you so much for being clear and simple with your words and instructions and I look forward to watching all of your other videos as well as any that may come out in the near future that may help me better improve my blender skills!

    To select your pivot point, you could also go to edit mode, and select the edge, vertice or face you want. Then shift + s and go to 'Cursor to Active'. Then In object mode, shift + s and select 'Cursor to Selected'. Right click and select 'Origin to 3D Cursor' and you are done

      That’s awesome. I feel the same way as of right now I am only providing the file to Patreon at $3 per month. I can’t (unfortunately) give everything away for free. Thank you for all the support though!!

      Sorry for the bad joke. You said "If you're watching in the future..." ... versus when?

    Can you use child of constraint and copy location constraint at the same (using cell phone)

  • @nhantran8254
    @nhantran8254 Před 4 měsíci

    It works for me, but when clicked apply the constraint, the effects were gone as if there had been no constraints. Why is that? From an AI tool, it said that I should leave the constraints like that without applying, so what is the apply button for?

      Hi! Can you give me more details about what you'd want to see with the elevator? The door? Movement up and down a shaft?

  • @rcrusselldesigns
    @rcrusselldesigns Před 5 měsíci

    I've Parented the door to the frame. I saved the collection as an asset, when I try it in another file. the door doesn't rotate on it's own.

    • @user-ll2vu6pf8l
      @user-ll2vu6pf8l Před 5 měsíci +1

      Bringing a collection in from the asset browser brings it in as a “collection instance”. Try selecting it in the new file, press F3 and search for “Make Real” or “Make Instance Real” or something like that. I think that will work.

  • @TamerBayouq

    Why did the modifiers act odd before you flipped them? Or is it just a case of if it's not working flip them?

    • @Brandon-3D
      @Brandon-3D  Před 7 měsíci +2

      It has to do with how Blender processes them from top to bottom. It needs to limit the rotation and THEN address the pivot point rather than the other way around. The rest is over my head.
