Soooo happy we guessed the correct magnet for us (2 adults) to start off our magnet fishing!!
We decided on a 2000lbs double sided not knowing if we chose correctly or not.
Weâre going tomorrow evening (after the mag. thread glue dries) to throw out first!

I ordered a 1080lbs kit from Amazon and I was easily able to pull it off my refrigerator with about 20 lbs of force.
Wow, thats crazy! Brute doesnt lie about there pull force, trust me, ive had difficulties pulling things off my magnets lol

I would personally just get a 360 magnet. It's not that much more expensive than a super powerful (~2600 lb) double sided magnet, and the magnet is magnetic on all sides so you have a much better chance of picking things up when thrown from any angle.

I recently got a double sided magnet from Brute. Two questions if you have time.
Do you think the plastic plugs that screw into the holes have any benefit? And is the side mount better for casting into rivers?

Side mount is better if your casting out, face mount if dropping straight down. The plastic plus just keep dirt out if your going to switch from the mounts.

Well, a 400 lbs magnet sounds hard to remove from, but I can pull items off a 26,00lbs magnet. So don't be discouraged. It's easier then you think to pull items off.

Can you suggest some brand names for double sided magnets. There are so many people selling them and they don't pick up close to what they say
I can vouch for Brute Magnetics, I've been using them for over 4 years now, LOVE them, and they are as powerful as they say, most finds I have trouble getting them off the magnet lol

I must be missing something. I assume a 2,600 lb. magnet or 1,300 lb. per side does not take 1,300 lbs of strength to pull it off something like a car engine underwater. No human could do that. What amount of pull would it take to pull a 1,300 lb magnet off of something that weighs 1,300+ lbs.?
That all depends on the contact the magnet has made. On a clean piece of metal, you would need that pull force of pressure to remove it. something in the water covered in sand and rust doesn't get a good contact. So it's easier to pull off
