Hope all goes well for ya. I am 53 and my back is crap too man and going through hard times with it. Ill keep detecting until I can't. Wish I had of started detecting 30 yrs ago lol instead of 7 :)

Sorry to hear about your back, I have many of the same issues. Went through all kinds of treatments, meds, pain killers etc. They ended up implanting a pain pump in 2018. For the most part, it's better than a bunch of pills every day.

Maybe you can do water hunting in lakes. Once your over waist deep it doesn't stray the back as much. Lifting a water scope of sand or mud might be an issue. I have bad knees now so I water hunt a lot in the summer.

Lat season was my final year detecting as back and knees dislike it more than I like the hobby. Gave all my gear and machines recently to my youngest son as he can continue the hunt for me.

I appreciate the effort, but using a good 220 grit sandpaper followed by a series of finer grits like 320/400/500/800/1000/1500/2000, along with polishing using brasso or a similar paste with a dremel and cloth wheel, would achieve a much better result and a mirror finish. This method can make a significant difference in the final outcome.

JB please don't do anything more to hurt your back. I'm just now starting to recover from my back surgery. I had the very same thing you're talking about. I had lots of old fractures in my back. I had surgery 10-14-2020 and again the next day. I'm finally getting to where I can walk on my own. I still have to use a cane outside bc I'm still afraid of falling.
