    This is one of my favorite elevator videos. This inspired me to start my elevator key collection, this key being one of my first keys ever!

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    7 is a floor with nothing but offices for the Archive Dept. Floor six is used for storage. Floor 8 has the Presidential Meeting rooms.

    Can u do a retake of this elevator?

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    It's a warning that fire service mode is active. If there was an annunciator, it would say, "Fire service mode is activated. Please exit the elevator when the doors open."

  • @msj191961
    @msj191961 Před 13 lety +3

    Would fire service call the fire dept/ set off the fire alarm system if I did that?

    0:17 Nudge Mode Recalled like Otis Elevator
    0:21 the Firemen Hat is disappear after Elevator is recalled.

    Is this elevator a traction or HIGHdraulic?

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 15 lety

    Thyssenkrupp bought Dover Elevators in the late 1990's. Thyssenkrupp continued using the same fixtures from the previous Dovers for several years.

    Can you do another fire service on this elevator? If you do, can you put it into fire service, take it up to another floor and turn the key to have it recall when you're inside it?

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 15 lety

    Floor six has nothing, floor seven is a archive office and it is alarmed. Floor eight is a boardroom.

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    The buzzer, the arrow and the bells are turned off to save energy. Also, you can tell the elevator is operating because of the motor. All safety sensors except for the door bumper are also deactivated. Lastly, they want to save as much energy as possible to make as many trips and save as many people as they possibly can.

    I’ve taken a course on elevator emergency operations when I was in college for my Network administrator certification. I also learned this procedure in high school during training for my internship because it was a mandatory training otherwise I would of been disqualified. Also when I got the job with the port authority of New York and New Jersey I also had to take this course. Because the Air Train at JFK airport has a fire recall system. If there was a fire the train would return to Jamaica station until I put the train into fire service and manually take control over it

    "Floor six has nothing, floor seven is a archive office and it is alarmed. Floor eight is a boardroom. "
    Oh well, nothing really amazing then. Thank you anyway for the answer.

  • @elevatorswithESH
    @elevatorswithESH Před 2 lety +1

    That is the long buzz I would hear if this thing were in nudge mode. The operation of it being in fire service is kinda interesting but I am not going to activate fire service on an elevator because it is illegal but it looks like you had permission because you said it was a brand new Thyssenkrupp elevator.

    • @neaelevator
      @neaelevator  Před 2 lety

      Yes you are correct. As I work in safety, I have keys and can run test on fire service to make sure they are working correctly.

      @@neaelevator that’s good that you have a certification to do these type things.

    This elevator is cruising fast for 8 levels

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    Floor 4 is not locked it just has a space next to the button for a keyhole. 6 is a empty floor, 7 is a special archives floor and 8 is a meeting room floor.

  • @blackmaxima
    @blackmaxima Před 16 lety

    Dover/TK elevators are the only ones where the fire hat doesn't stay lit after the elevator hits the ground floor and the doors open. On some newer ones, depending on how the light is interfaced with the fire alarm system, it will stay on or even flash, but on this common series of elevators, I think the light should stay on to indicate it's in fire recall mode.

  • @codymcaleer7209
    @codymcaleer7209 Před 7 lety +1

    Geez! The buzzer is so loud that you could hear it when the elevator was on the upper floor!

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    Baytrail is correct. Also when the fire service is activated, the buzzer sounds inside the car and the elevator stops wherever it is at and returns to the first floor.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 13 lety +1

    @msj191961 What your dad said would make sense. In some cases, when the fire alarm goes off the elevators will return to the nearest floor or the lobby automatically. In that case they would be tied in to the fire panel. Ours are not though. As far as the key, I have seen them on Ebay a time or two. Other than that I would not have a clue. Mine came with my job.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    That I am unsure of. My guess would be that the buzzer and the floor call bells are wired the same and maybe they would not want others to hear that the elevator is operational as they may try to use it. That is just a pure guess though.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 13 lety +1

    @msj191961 Ours do not. I dont think they would anywhere. It is strictly for if the fire dept arrived and wanted control. I would not think that it would set off any building alarm.

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    The reason why locked floors go unlocked is because the firefighter needs access to those floors to rescue those people.

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    The bumper is not active but the door safety edge is active.

  • @Undercoverelevator212-s2n

    How would this operate in "Elevator Emergency Power" mode? All I know is that when it happens, it recalls to the main floor and opens its doors.

    • @neaelevator
      @neaelevator  Před 3 lety

      Honestly I am unsure. That would be fun to find out.

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    In the elevator key box or in the manager's office. Occasionally at the police and firemen stations.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    No this key does not work in that switch so I really do not know the answer to that. I believe we have a dover elevator that has a physical stop switch and the fire service. I will go and try that as well.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 13 lety +1

    @ZombyZac Not sure. Most all fire services with most all companies requre this. Not sure why.

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    If the elevator were to not permit access to the locked floors in the fire service mode then people on those floors couldn't be rescued and those people would be incinerated.

  • @mike4ty4
    @mike4ty4 Před 15 lety +1

    Why are some of those floors locked, anyway?

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    So far, all of these travel to the nearest floor without the doors opening and return to the lobby. I dont know about other companies though. Good question!

  • @conotube
    @conotube Před 15 lety

    Or when there is fire alarm system test and the elevators must work uninterruptedly.

  • @msj191961
    @msj191961 Před 13 lety +1

    @neaelevator My dad is an enginner and says in his building, if someone puts the elevator into fire service, it puts a trouble on the fire alarm panel therefore calling the fire department. He said it is different in every building. Do you know where I can get an original Dover H2389 fire key? I can't find one anywhere.

  • @aa9g1

    @neaelevator You can find them often on ebay for real cheap. I have every key used for a Dover elevator & multiple copies of each.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 16 lety

    On the Dovers, even the safety edge is decativated. You had better be out of the way of the door cause it will keep closing if the button is being held.

  • @neaelevator
    @neaelevator  Před 13 lety +2

    @msj191961 This is a traction.

  • @noahharris2260
    @noahharris2260 Před rokem +2

    I know floors 6 7 and 8 were locked off restricted why does fire service work on restricted floors I thought you can’t unless you unlock the floor

    • @neaelevator
      @neaelevator  Před rokem +1

      That is a great question. Fire code requires that fire service override all locked out floors in case there is an emergency on those floors.

  • @Baytrail
    @Baytrail Před 16 lety

    Do this. For closing, wait a second after closure or until the motor sounds up. For opening, wait a second after opening.
