    The real value of more expensive SSDs with proper DRAM is not just speed, it's long term reliability. Looking at speed alone is ultimately very misleading.

      @killerdoxen Před rokem +10

      That got me as well. You look at the higher end Samsung drives and their TBW are so much higher than the cheaper ones. And data writing is what wears down an SSD.

      but can long term reliability justify the 3x cost of the same performing ssd? especially since this is only 250GB

    Cheap SSDs are still a great way for offices and general usage, but in terms of reliability, expensive ones would simply have a much more durable writing limit. Speeds can differ but it won't be significant.
    This is why you can see that most people who have designated workflows or competitive gaming, expensive SSDs can give them an advantage as well as long-term data protection safety.

      True if you are looking for reliability and need ssd for work stuff better get samsung if you are gonna use it for gaming use the cheap ssd

    you should try with old games because old games contain 1000s separate files but new games contains few large and compressed files. In new games lots of loading time is data decompression.

    Many cheap drives are actually fine for the price paid aslong as you steer away from DRAMless drives and don't buy real Chinese crap like Kingmax, etc.
    Stick to known brands (not necessarily big ones) such as Kingston and you should be fine.

      Kingston A400, wd Green are not very good (dramless) uv400/uv500 is more comparable as they have dram (believe they have more slc allocated space then samsung)

      A cheap ssd periodically lags during games. The Toshiba ssd I bought 5 years ago is still faster and never had any problems. For gaming, you need to use a more expensive and reliable ssd.

    If you want a compare a like for like ssd use the Uv400 or newer uv500 as they use dram and a very close price to the a400,, a400 is a dramless ssd and isn't the best (I actively avoid it as they can actually get noticeably slow for an ssd) note sellers have a habit of selling it as SA400

    • @RMKry
      @RMKry Před 8 měsíci +1

      Sorry but A400, UV400, UV500 and other low end Kingston SSD sata have 0 dram, it's simple dramless ssd.

    • @leexgx
      @leexgx Před 8 měsíci

      @@RMKry that is incorrect UV series have dram, I have opened them and plenty of pictures online (the A series are dramless, some sellers do list them sa400) the UV series does have an slc cache so you can actually slow them down when filling them (constant write) but it's only temporarily but you won't normally notice it in day-to-day use
      The a400 can just be slow especially if it's 40% or more filled and writes in general can have high latency (as it has to do the page table read and write at the same time as its writing data)

    Please, can you test hardware for regular, everyday task.
    Like open browser, multiple tabs, word, excel, CZcams, OS launch time.
    Also in games test 0.1%, 1% fps drops.
    I have friend you ask me to help buy laptops.
    And they maximum use this laptop for excel, youtube and social media. Do they really need 16GB ram or M2 ssd or 4core CPU.
    In my country most famous laptop is with celeron N4020 CPU and 4GB RAM.

    • @AlexLYH
      @AlexLYH Před 2 lety

      Celeron N4020 CPU and 4GB RAM won't cut it unless they're planning to open 1 Chrome tab at a time with no other resource intensive task running in the background... M.2 NVME, 16GB RAM and a CPU with more than 4 cores don't cost much these days and it's not worth it to cheap out on these parts unless you simply don't have the budget.

    • @iraklimgeladze5223
      @iraklimgeladze5223 Před 2 lety

      @@AlexLYH I agree that N4020 is trash. I found Intel Pentium, 7505. It's 2 core 4 thread, 10 nm+ and 6mb cache. It's 2-3 times faster and not so far from i3 11th. Besides it have new more efficient iGPU, which helps to improve battery. I have never seen pass 5 years so much jump in cheap laptops.
      And laptop battery last 4-5 hours, compare to old ones 2-3.
      I just want to know if it worth buying anything more than 7505.
