I think it's *slower* because instead of a mechanical throttle cable the 97 uses an electronically controlled throttle. It felt like there was a delay when i pressed the accelerator! I may buy that 97 I saw... The owner was asking 3,500 it only has 153k. I'd like to pay less than 3k since it's an older car.
Yea, I didn’t think it was that much more. I think it is probably the transmission that is the difference. The 124 has a four speed and the 97 210s have a 5 speed. My dad has a 96 E300 which has the 4 speed like the 124 and I don’t think it is that sluggish at slow speed.
