This is definitely one of his best solos, in the original he seemingly doesnt miss a hit anywhere, for his age and heslth he sure was nible. This is incredible!
This was one of my favorite solos and man you freaking killed it! I mean if I wasn't watching I would swear it was the Master!! Absolutely top notch chops!
One of my favorite solos as well and I’ve seen Buddy live a few times. Excellent work friend! All you need is a Frank Sinatra to front you the money to start your own big band! Excellent work!!
Ok.... ... damn. I ...really would not have believed that someone could nail this one ...down to the detail of every single on the fly rimshot, etc... this is beyond impressive.
It's great you know how to play Buddy Rich's solos. I would like to hear your interpretation of this song and solos. If I want to listen to buddy rich's music I can find it on the net. I want to hear how you interpret this song in your own style.
Another great video my friend learning that Buddy Rich solo from 1969 at Ronnie Scott`s. What snare drum are you using? Buddy was using his Slingerland chrome over wood Slingerland 4x14 inch snare drum which to me always sounded great with his tuning.Very tight sound that had a very clear tone to it. The first time I saw Buddy Rich live was back in 1969 and he was playing that snare drum. I bought one of those Slingerland BR 4x14 inch snare drum in 1971 and posted this video about it czcams.com/video/hdKYNsJERhw/video.html Check it out and you will hear how great this Slingerland snare drum is. It had the straight chrome over brass hoops that Buddy liked so much. Again wonderful feel for the music and your left hand played everything that fits this solo so well. This must of taking so much time to learn. Plus the fact you have the feel and talent to pull it off. Love the fact you played it wearing a full suit! Keep up the great drumming. Ken Loomer
Thank you so much, as always! I was using fibes on this one! Since I’m using early 80N, using Fibes is the closest combination to get close to his set in this era. I really long for that 4x14 snare, that one is gold, you’ll hardly even see one on sale these days.
@@MrCrazyGasMaskMan Wonderful you have that Fibes snare drum and used it in this great video you made. I knew Bob Grauso very well ,the man who started the Fibes drum company and who made the Fibes snare drum for Buddy Rich. He would come to Big Band concerts and one time at my house, he let me played his Fibes snare drum that Buddy had one time used. You are right it`s hard to find a Slingerland 4x14 BR model snare drum. I have the marine pearl and chrome over wood model which sound excellent. You are a amazing drummer! I know something about drummers and you have a great talent!
@@MrCrazyGasMaskMan I never thought of that, but it does make sense if one is right handed. Besides, instead of seeing a band, you'd just see curtains. I try to look up at the ceiling so I don't have to see people laughing.
@@MrCrazyGasMaskMan I don't know, but there's a drum battle between him and Louie Bellson, and I swear it's the battling toupees! 🤣 I'll see if I can find it.
You have excellent technique and ability to play a drum set with mastery. However, with all due respect, I must give kudos to drummers like Tommy Igoe and Dave Weckl, et al, who play Buddy's music as covers, not copying. They respect Buddy's playing by performing that music using their own ideas and not copying Buddy's "One Of A Kind" technique and brilliant ideas. A good example is Tommy playing Buddy's tune "Preach and Teach" on Y.T. He's playing like himiself, fills and all, not like Buddy. Refreshing! Or, Dave Weckl playing Buddy's tune, "Time Check" on Y.T. Dave gives us his interpretation of that great tune, not how Buddy played it. Why should I listen to someone copying Buddy's style, technique and ideas, when there is plenty of the original real deal - Buddy himself - out there to watch? Could be you're trying to prove something. If that's right, if you're trying to show the world you can play like Buddy, forget it, man! On Buddy's grave marker it reads, "One Of A Kind" That means he's IT. There's no other. There was so much more to the man than just his great drumming...
To me its just a bunch of beats. No rhythm or melody. Nonsense... The drum teacher i had when i was a teen was trying to teach me to play different noyes with each different limb. It made no sense. This was after 8 had learned how to read drum music and play various drum beats used in music. Then he ruined it all having me do that each limb stuff. I saw no point to it. Like Algebra to me and i was no good at math.
If you think it’s like Algebra to you then first thing you should do is study, not being a naysayer. If you truly think it’s nonsense, you wouldn’t dare to even comment here.
As someone who saw Buddy in person _many_ times, I will say this is incredibly impressive! This is one of my favorite solos of his too. Amazing!
Thank you so much!!
I was a friend of Buddy's...u just imitated a masterful solo of his .. MASTERFULLY!!!!
Wow really?! I really would love to hear your story with Buddy!

No one does Buddy like Buddy, but you just did it! WOW!
50年以上音楽を聴いて来たが間違いなく日本ジャズ史上№1ドラマーだ
I've seen Buddy perform many times and as a fellow drummer I have to say this was an incredible cover.
Thank you, it’s my honour

Never saw anyone nail his solos before and this dude mirrored perhaps my favorite BR solo ever. Hatzoff to u man!!!

I’m so glad that you watched it! Thank you.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Excellent. FYI, Buddy was 52 when he played this. It's good to see young people appreciate the master drummer and good music like this.
Wow never saw anyone on utube do anything like that !! I have many buddy rich c.d.s and videos. Im 72, saw buddy twice. 😊
Great performance, Buddy was an incredible inspiration. So to emulate his work is an honor and Super achievement ......BRAVO to you...
Absolutely sensational! You have tremendous talent, my man!!!!

Fantastic words can’t describe how you match him you need to come to the good old USA TO perform
Damn , That was awesome!!
I have no doubt that you are the best I have seen since you know who, just brilliant.👍👍👍👍

Dude matched Buddy move for move and sound for sound. Good job.

Amazing solo man! Your work never ceases to impress me! Are you using a Fibes snare on this?
Yes exactly! Buddy was using 4x14 snare for this one, but since I didn’t have it, I used the closest one i’ve got, FIBES🥁
スプラッシュシンバルもヴィンテージですか?

Does that mean, it's not that difficult by all respect for both drummers?
same looking suit from buddy's ronnie scott performance of 1969.
I made it, and it’s actually a coat.

That was moderately excellent. lol My only complaint is that you weren't looking to your left while playing. Just kidding, of course.
Staring left while playing is the hardest thing to do, it requires years of experience!!!

He copies Buddy to a tee.
I wonder if he tunes his drums the same as Buddy….
Or sneaks in a Fibes snare..😊
Only the toupee is missing!
Haha, was he already using it in 1969?
