Just "sew" it on (with a plastic needle used for crochet) with matching yarn.

Smaller hook & yarn use a cotton 3 or 4 yarn. You will get it!

Don't know if you even still monitor this site, but could you answer some of the questions below --- I have the same question --- how did you put all the parts together. Regular needle/thread? yarn? glue? what/how !!!! :) PLEASE respond ..... thanks in advance
Hi, I know I am not MaryJ, but I will attempt to answer this for you. Typically, in tutorials where the creator suggests a "long tail" this is indicative of you using that tail to sew the parts together. With that said, how you plan to use the item can dictate how you join the parts.
If you are going to use this applique on a wearable/washable item (hat, sweater, blanket, etc.) I strongly suggest sewing the parts together very well. This can be achieved with the long tail or using needle/yarn. This will hopefully provide for years of enjoyment without it coming off. If you are going to use this applique on a bunting or other craft project where it will not be washed, then using hot glue will be fine (of course you could still sew it together).
