    If you are having difficulty, remember she's working in a foreign language where the stitches are called by different names, etc. Be kind and grateful. Maybe this can help.
    Pattern written out:
    Pumpkin Body
    Chain 21
    Row 1: skip first 2 ch, hdc in next ch and in each ch across
    Row 2-28: ch1, turn. Working in back loops only, hdc in each hdc across.
    Join to foundation chain by slip stitching through one loop of a hdc in row 28 plus one (corresponding) loop of foundation chain.
    (Note the needle is threaded with a single strand of yarn. The yarn is pulled through the needle to make the two ends the same length and you work with both ends of the doubled strand of yarn. You will have to tie and then cut the yarn to free the needle when you are done)
    Stem:
    Create magic loop (it's just a half hitch knot and you crochet into it before pulling the tail to tie it)
    Round 1: 6 sc in magic loop, pull loop tight to close.
    Round 2: * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc Repeat from * around. (9 sc)
    Round 3: working in back loop only sc in each sc around (9 sc)
    Round 4-7: 1 sc in each sc around
    Finish with one slst in next sc, tie off
    Leaf
    Ch 5
    Round 1: skip 1st ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 3dc in next ch, ch 3 turn.
    Round 2: working in ch 3 just made, slst in next 2 ch, sl st in last dc made. Working in foundation chain, 3 dc in same ch as last set of 3 dc (1st ch st made in foundation chain), 1dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch (What you are doing here is mirroring the stitches you already made in the opposite side of the foundation chain. If the stitch has 3 dc, make 3 dc in the opposite side. If it has 1 hdc, make 1 hdc in the opposite side.). Ch 2, turn.
    Round 3: working in ch 2 just made, skip one ch, sc in next ch, slst to last ch in foundation chain. Tie off.

    This is the first pumpkin I've ever made. This is such a preferred method rather than crocheting in the round. With crocheting in the round you have to increase the stitches and remember how many you're doing. It's a pain. This pattern is adorable because the ribbing is visible in the finished product. Absolutely adorablefor the first time that I've ever made one. I want to make a larger one and I am in the process but I am not sure how many rows to make with 30 foundation chains. The only thing I did different was I did not use double strands of yarn when I made my slices. As long as the yarn is strong one strand is fine

      Basically, it doesn't have to be exact with the half double crochet. I'm using my width measurement multiplied by 2.5 to give me the approximate length. I will just crochet as many rows as needed until I reach that measurement. All approximate. It will turn out nice regardless :-)

  • @theastewart6721
    @theastewart6721 Před 5 lety +3

    How do you chain 21 then skip the first 2 chains and end up with 20 stitches? Wouldn’t you be 1 short and end up with 19?
    When I chain 21 and only skip one chain and work into the second chain from hook I end up with 20. Very confusing although the rest of the pattern is great.

    • @Inamichan
      @Inamichan Před 5 lety +2

      I think she means the stitch on the hook and the last slip knot made. That would make 20.

    • @bleechrcreechrr
      @bleechrcreechrr Před 5 lety

      I notices she left that out. Since o don't really know how to do it, I'm going to do it the same way you'd attach a pom pom to a hat. Leave a long tail at the end of both the leaf and stem, then use the yarn needle to pull the stem's tail through the bottom of the pumpkin and tie a knot. Then repeat with the stem. Idk if that's how she did it but I don't know how else

      Nick Kyle Scheuermann I going to be making this pattern and try doing medium and large. My guess is you would make your chain a little longer and add more rows too each size you make.

    • @michelleclare6250
      @michelleclare6250 Před 4 lety

      Hi, I have made pumpkins in many sizes, just change your yarn, I used bulky yarn, a larger hook, chained longer, they came out great, even the size of a bowling ball in off white chunky yarn, used fall leaves on top, some painted over with beige, added a cinnamon stick inside on top, voila!! Have fun.
      All the best, Michelle.

    These are really very cute, but some things just weren't clear and very difficult to figure out. I did ok, but I couldn't see how you threaded your yarn needle for the lines around the pumpkin, so a better picture of that would have helped, and the leaf and the stem were very difficult to follow. I think there was a step during the leaf making that you weren't clear about where the next half of the leaf stitching should go and I had to kind of figure that out too. Otherwise it's very good, slow and methodical and love your accent.
