    Well I've been corrected twice since then, it does have VVT and AFM. However it's also about 900lbs heavier than I thought it was in this spec, I gotta wonder where that weight is coming from. Still considering what was happening at Chrysler during development of this vehicle, I think it came out very nice.

    its actually the other around. The new m class is built on this platform. The grand cherokee debuted on this platform about 2 years before the m class moved to it.

    The Durango and Grand Cherokee are both based on the Mercedes M class chassis. The GC is exactly the same while the Durango has been lengthened somewhat.

  • @flatblackstrat
    @flatblackstrat Před 11 lety

    Agreed. This seems very low for such displacement. Many V6s are about 40hp shy of this V8. Hemis always seem to be a bit lower in peak HP when compared to GMs V8s liter per liter.

  • @xMuShAdDx
    @xMuShAdDx Před 11 lety

    Only 360hp, and a ram with the same motor makes 395. That means there is some big power that should be easy to release in this thing. That's exciting.

    I was going to get a 2013 six months ago but I'm so glad I waited for the 2014 as many complained the 5/6 speed tranny was the weak point in terms of performance and hunting for a gear. Being a Ford guy I just couldn't do the Explorer as I can't get past the minivan/little CUV looks.

    At 3 times the price. Durango has a 50/50 weight split and handles like a dream in spite of the iron block Hemi. The chassis is strait from Mercedes. The base bottom of the line Durango has a 300 hp six and gets almost 30 on the hwy. It can be had for just over 30k. Far less than the 210 hp Q5 or about the same price as a stripped 240 hp X1.

    While the Explorer Sport does beat the Durango R/T i don't think its astomping type of win. 6.2 on the sport vs 6.6 onthe R/T according to Truck Trend. I looked at the sport and decidedto go with the Durango. Having owned two Explorers before, I thought the drive and interior of the Durango was better fit for me this time around.
