  • "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli is heading to prison for up to 20 years! Ana Kasparian, Brett Erlich and Aida Rodriguez discuss on The Young Turks. Brought to you by An Inconvenient Sequel inconvenientsequel.com/action

"Martin Shkreli, accused of defrauding his hedge fund investors and a pharmaceutical company, was convicted on three of eight counts on Friday, after a five-week trial in the Federal District Court in Brooklyn.
Mr. Shkreli was convicted of securities fraud in connection with his hedge fund MSMB Capital; of securities fraud in connection with another hedge fund he ran, MSMB Healthcare; and of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, related to a scheme in which he tried to secretly control a huge portion of shares of Retrophin, a drug company he started.
He faces up to 20 years on each of the first two counts, and up to five years on the final count.
The conviction, even as a mixed verdict, was a major defeat for the divisive Mr. Shkreli, who said before the trial that he was “so innocent” that the judge, jury and prosecutors would apologize to him afterward.”*

A liberals education consists of opening your mouth, having your liberal professor/media shit in your mouth until you're full of shit. Then every time you open your mouth you spew shit, every time you listen to a logical argument it sounds like shit, every time you read an opposing fact or different view point; it appears as shit.

Rather than being a display of justice to me it just reveals how class oriented the justice system is. Gouging the poor by holding a gun to their heads is not a problem but lying to the rich is worthy of a 20 year jail sentence.

If you read sentencing guidelines, he faces more like 1 to 6 months. Up to 20 years would be if all the counts were returned with a guilty verdict. Only 3 of counts were given a guilty verdict. The remaining 3 were the weakest of the charges too.

    • @gnometheory3831

He isn't getting 20 years, the judge said he would use SIGNIFICANT discretion when sentencing him, because in reality he was found not guilty of the major allegations against him. The max penalty would be 20 years, there is a very real possibility he won't receive any jail time.

No ok then why don't you understand it's not just production, which does cost a lot but I don't know the exact numbers so don't quote me, it's also researching for the drug testing the drug also not to mention taxes which are taken out when all is said and done. With there only being about 7000 ppl who need that drug the price has to go up to only break even. He never made profit for the first few years and they're researching better drugs to replace it. Also no one that needed the drug didn't get it
