    The vanity muscle of the thigh in my opinion. A nice tear drop vast med just above the knee is just a work of art.

    Absolutely love this. Recently started learning anatomy and these informative short videos are working like wonders. I also appreciate you putting the info in the description as well. Great stuff man.

    Loving your content! I will share this with my students, they have to do an assignment where they have to label the O, I, A, of all of the major muscles…
    Thank you for all of your hard work!
    Very respectfully,

    Hi! Professer!
    what kind of muscle strength training can maximize the focus on training the vastus medialis muscles and get the most benefit?

    • @BodyworksPrime
      @BodyworksPrime  Před rokem

      Hi Keane. It's not something you can easily isolate from the other quadricep muscles, as the quadriceps all work together to extend the knee. So when you're training quads, you will be training the vastus medialis too. Generally though, if you find exercises that causes the vastus medialis to feel pumped or fatigued/disrupted then that exercise is likely targeting it well. Everyone's anthropometry is a little different, so one person's best quad building exercise may not be the best for someone else. Your own body's feedback is usually the best guide for individual exercise choices. A few example quad exercises to try out would be: front squats, high bar squats, leg press (with your feet lower down the platform to emphasise knee flexion), hack squats and leg extensions. Hope that helps.

      @@BodyworksPrime Good night Hong Kong 🌙✨Thanks for the professor's enthusiastic response.
      According to what you said from all quad exercises, the four muscle groups will have different degrees of contraction tension, because the rectus femoris crosses the femur and connects the hip joint, while the other three muscle groups extend from the femur to the patella Therefore, it is necessary to shorten the contraction of the rectus femoris in advance to strengthen the contraction of the other three groups of muscle groups, but what kind of movements can be used to concentrate the Vastus Medialis in these three groups of muscles?
      You are right, when the exercise reaches pumping blood or fatigue or even exhaustion, it is the exercise effect of the corresponding muscles. And these exercises are single-joint isolated movements, usually 8rep to 12rep to exhaustion.
      Each person will have different effects in response to different exercises, because the size, angle, and length ratio between bones and joints of each person's body are not consistent, the length of muscles is also different, and the ratio of the number of Fast twitch muscle fibers to Slow twitch muscle fibers etc. Affects the training effect of each exercise on the muscles.
      The few examples you mentioned are very good 😃👍. Among them, I think the best and best exercises that fit the human body angle to obtain the greatest training effect are High bar squats, Hack squats, and Leg extension, which are my favorite. Another one is the back barbell lunge squat.
      When you place an oblique footboard on the barbell back squat, the center of gravity changes and tilts forward. The difference from Front squat is that it is safer and more comprehensive than Front squat. The multi-joint movement (back muscles) focuses on the quadriceps. Internal and external muscles.
      Thank you professor for your enthusiastic response and helping me solve my doubts! Thanks you!

      @@keaneleung No problems! Happy to help.
      You're right, lunges are another great exercise! If you keep your torso more upright, it will bit more quadricep (due to requiring a bit more knee flexion). If you lean forward at the hips, it will involve the glutes more (due to increased hip flexion). I'm a big fan of lunges personally. They're one of my favourite exercises.
      From the research I have read, it is just not possible to isolate the vastus medialis from the rest of the quadricep muscles with a specific exercise. The vastus medialis does not have a distinct and separate nerve innervation (the femoral nerve innervates it). So it is not possible to isolate it from the other quadriceps muscles via a specific exercise. An easy way you can test this yourself by trying to contract just your vastus medialis muscle by itself, you won't be able to, as the other quadricep muscles will contract with it. But that is not a bad thing, bigger and stronger quads in general is always good 👍

    wait im learning anatomy rn and ive never seen a muscles origin be on another muscle 😮 how does that work? is there specific point on the other muscles it originates from?

    • @BodyworksPrime
      @BodyworksPrime  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes, that is correct, there will be specific areas it connects to on the muscle and the fascia surrounding it. Quite a few muscles have some kind of a connection to one another, such as the gluteus maximus and the tensor fascia latae connecting via the iliotibial band.
      Thanks for watching! Hope your anatomy studies are going well.
