These are all Lastolite reflectors, since I was commissioned to make this video for their CZcams and app, but my hope is that you see the difference of each of these types of reflectors and what makes them useful, why some reflectors are large, why some are small, what type of compactness each has, etc. I personally use the Lastolite Trigrip and Halo reflectors constantly.

Love your stuff. Just picked up my first flash and getting situated with a diffuser. Inspired by ur Off-Camera Flash Handbook!
Plus getting on that social game guided by ur Social Media Demystified :)
Thanks for your guidance!
Yayyyyy this makes me so happy 😁
@@VanessaJoy I got the book also 🥰🥰🥰🥰
@@MrRalboi919 you’re the best 😊
New knowledge is added to me out of you as usual! Thank you very much for that!
My pleasure 😇
Thank you Vanessa, very informative as are all your videos.
The r5 is such a game-changer. Focusing is SO GOOD! Sharing this video with my assistant, thanks!
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for the great information. Just bought the reflectors :)
Juliana is a stunner. The reflectors are great as well. Thank you for the video, it was fun.
She is!
Great and comprehensive overview/tutorial Joy :) Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you sooooooo much !!! Very educational and inspirational!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Very helpful.
My glow 5 in 1 reflector comes in today! Cannot wait to figure it out.
Wow! - Your model has the most gorgeous eyes!
You are so kind
Uh, ok
you two are amazing!
Thanks
Handheld diffuser for daylight:clever!
Nice video, greetings from Italy 😊
Thanks 😊
Nice job on the video, very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello from Paris ! very good work ! i like thank' for your vidéos
I’ve never seen the Halo Reflector before, what a interesting product! I can picture it taking to the sky when attached to your stand on a beach shoot! 😂
It’s such a great product for travel!
Great video thank you.
Wow the tri-flip has doubled in price since this video came out!! Thank you for putting this together as it provides a lot of useful tips for others.
Very nice..I will also try..will learn more from you.
Thanks for being here!
50k. Congrats 👏
You deserve more so 100k soon 🤙
Aw thx ☺️
Thanks for the information.👍👍👍👍
My pleasure ☺️
she is a really nice model , you really had fun shooting her images :) . it is really satisfying when you put hard work and you have a beautiful subject .
She’s great!
The skylite looks like a stretcher! You never know when you'll need it as a stretcher since it is so bright that it can make your model drowsy 😁.
Venessa big up you are always on top with your work
Thanks Steve!
I recently bought the Lastolite SkyRapid 2x2 scrim. Yes, its a little more complicated to put up and needs a small team to look after it, but it has given me the nicest diffused light I've ever shot. Oh, and somebody needs to make a video about how to put the frame back in the hard case since thats a whole new challenge in itself!
Definitely worth the time!
I love opening those bottle top style reflectors. You always look so professional by flicking your wrist (Not required, obviously, but it looks cooler) and having it spring open. Those that Halo and tri-grip I'm definitely jealous of those....and may end up buying them. Not gonna lie. Thanks for this demo Vanessa. Well done, as usual! Of course, it wouldn't be the same without Julianna!
Glad you like them! The halo and tripgrip are definitely staples for me
@@VanessaJoy I've got a 42" deflector (like Seth's) and a 24" 5-in-1 and use them all the time. Essential piece of kit, for sure.
I love the model top
Beautiful 👍👍👍❤👍👍👍
Nice!!!
Really enjoyed this vid...thanks. Who makes your leather camera strap?
Nice video!
this girl has two gems for eyes...
sapphires!
Hello Vanessa good shoot that said, where did you buy the camera sling strap? Cheers! 🥃
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great job videographer, making the videos landscape.
Well, it wasn't taken with a cell phone and made for IG and then transferred over to CZcams to be added to her channel, so yeah, Probably the reason why. Convince IG to accept more than just cell phone uploads and you'll see less portrait style stuff coming off there...
… Um… Okay? 99.8% of videos on CZcams are landscape, but go off I guess…
@@longliveclassicmusic This was taken on IG and then put on CZcams though... CZcams is primarily landscape but IG is portrait. Hence the portrait orientation.
It's difficult to decide who I like more... Vanessa, or the model.... I think Vanessa 😎
Aw thx
Thanks again Vanessa for a great lesson. Are you planning a walking shoot any time soon?
I wish! It's so difficult with COVID rn :-(
Thanks for this really informative video Vanessa. Learnt a lot. Impressed by the is of the R5. Whats the maximum size prints you could go to from your files please? Keep up the good work. :)
Glad it was helpful! I’m not sure about the maximum print size, definitely perfectly fine printing 40 by 60s, which is usually as high as I go in general because of my client demand
Great explanation of reflectors. It was really understandable for me.
Also, your models are always phenomenal!
Great content. Where did you purchase your camera strap?
+Vanessa Joy, nice video. Thank you.
Thx Anthony ☺️
Curious on your thoughts on these vs wescott? Reflectors are definitely needed and I usually go solo.
Love Westcott too! Personally this is my fav reflector of all time: Glow 5-in-1 42” Reflector: adorama.rfvk.net/kdmgd
Thanks for the great video. Awesome reflectors.
Vanessa: “Don’t use a reflector underneath the model!”
Next: Skylight being used upwards to light up from underneath. 😆
But her face was pointed down and the light, bc it was so big, was under and over her face. Very different :)
@@VanessaJoy thank you for your feedback. Really enjoy your content.
Thank you
You're welcome ☺️
Hello super belle vidéo comme toujours même la modèle et la photographe c'est bien beau les réflectors mais ici toujours du vent dur dur pour le tenir .
merci :-)
Thank you for the lesson! Sorry for destroying the 111 comment mark, can you tell us where you got that shoulder bag from?
Kelly Moore :)
I think this model is the most beautiful girl in the world!! There is big competition out there but this one is the best.
Getting stuff open is one thing. Figuring out how to fold them again is another!

Lol true
Hello, What is the lightstand from Manfroto you are using and is that only good for something light such as a diffusing panel. Recommendations for a flash and modifier
Manfrotto lightstand stackable: adorama.rfvk.net/bndvM
Have you ever try the sigma 135mm f1.8? I'm debating between the sigma and the canon 135 f2!
I haven’t :(
I am curious, I see a small label with barcode on your equipment, is that for tracking it back to you?
To canon ☺️
♥♥♥
Hi Vanessa do you recommend the battery grip.
I’m a fan especially since I shoot long events :)
A lot depends on camera angle. If you consistently shoot from a lower angle, no grip works better with the hand below the camera. Vanessa, as you can see, shoots consistently from a fairly level or higher angle. I recently took my grip off to get an easier setup at a lower camera angle. This is how you'll see Lindsay Adler shoot 99.9% of the time.
We’re did you buy that compact reflector it’s so small and screws right on a light stand hit to have one
Link in description :)
真的需要很多助手!
oh hello there :-)
@@VanessaJoy Hello, I am from China, a Chinese video website has reproduced your video, I think it is very cute, so come here.
Hi Vanessa, thank you for this super informative tutorial. I have a question for you: when you showed the bottle top you said not to hold it from below. With the skylite it seemed like he was holding it just like that though. What was the difference?
Her head/face was tilted down slightly, and the light was reflecting from not just below but also at and above eye level so all of that put together isn’t going to give her Halloween-lighting. :) good question!!
Great tutorial as always. I can't take sharp pics with my Canon 135 mm f2 at 1/200th of a second though. :-)
The IbIS in the R5 absolutely helps :)
@@VanessaJoy My two Canon 5DIII's don't have in camera stabilisation but I still love them :-)
@@wanneske1969 those are great cameras!
@@VanessaJoy I know ! Old, but they still do what I want them to do !
@@wanneske1969 that’s all you need 😊
What do you think about cutting a whole in the center of the reflector to shoot through it.
And what do you think about the Sunbounce reflectors and scrims?
Ha well that’s an option, I believe they make a reflector like that. I can’t say I’ve used the sunbounce brand but if it’s a solid reflector that you can bounce a penny off of that’s a plus 😉
@@VanessaJoy thanks for the answer. 😁
Hi Vanessa what is the name of that collapsable reflector
Manfrotto halo
First ‼️
Yayyy
Whoa wait what??? How did you edit like that on Lightroom??! What was that brush tool you used from Ps???? What?????
Haha yea. You can find them at presets.breatheyourpassion.com
Hory chit.. that triangle is $130?
As for traveling.. that halo reflector would be a life saver.
Sooo many times while living in fl I could have used a scrim to diffuse the sun.
Or a large reflector to use the sun as my keylight to light the entire model.
beautiful portraits! just a tad heavy handed on the skin editing though. She doesnt need it!
Lol… but I didn’t edit her skin…
With Juliana, you don't need a reflector. Her beauty is more than enough to make her shine :D. Then you can use the skylight for what it was intended...blinding airline pilots flying at 40000 feet and lighting up neighborhoods during blackouts :P :P :P
I want the best of best reflector tell me what to buy please.
I like this one: Glow 5-in-1 42” Reflector: adorama.rfvk.net/kdmgd
How do you get models for these videos? Do you have to pay? Do they barter their time for free headshots/exposure? I have seen the same model in a few of your videos so wasn't sure if she was a friend or what....just curious...
I pay for my models. They work hard especially for me since I typically hire a model for a full day and we shoot 10-12 videos in a day. Being a working photographer I can’t shoot only a video a day and have to plan full day shoots to bundle all of the video content I do :)
@@VanessaJoy very nice, I guess that is why it seemed like they had the same outfit on in several videos- it didn't "Click" until you just said you shoot several videos in a row....
Great idea shooting a full day. Great for portfolio and having that as end goal
Charles, which flavor did Vanessa buy for you on that location? And with which topping? I bet she is saving up some on Julianne though. Saying something like "Oh, darling, you're sweet enough without any ice cream". Just to lull her sense of justice, I mean.
Hi Vanessa. You mentioned that the photos shown are straight out of camera, but using a jpeg conversion from RAW. How are you doing that? I only ask because I can never get photos on my computer to look anything like they do on the back of the camera, no matter how much tweaking I do. Even going to the trouble of matching the camera profile across to Lightroom doesn't quite work. Close, but no cigar. 🤔
Meaning I shoot raw + jpg and I’m
Showing you the jpg.
do you use flash
Like my life depends on it
@@VanessaJoy i need soft light outdoor i am alone i havent asistant what do you recomend for me
I heard the Lastolite travel reflector strings broke after two uses...I know this is the experience of a few...but worth noting. Has this happened to anyone else reading this?
I’ve had mine for a year or so with no breakage but I’d love to hear if someone has had that problem
@@VanessaJoy Ok great! I will definitely give it a shot then.
OMG, model without expressions at all!!!!
Where's that famous Brooklyn Reflector? Oh that's right, Lastolite doesn't make that reflector. 😏
that's a special one ;-)
#Rahmat_DJ_Song_Haldia
What did you say?
??
All videos should feature Vanessa in shorts or leggings. It's a testament to her dedication to her photography and her body.
"That's not an attractive light pattern." Ha-ha
lol - that's me being nice ;-)
or swat a wasp....
hehe
All those coin bouncing references are really motivating me to do some squats.
Same
Hahahaha
I have zero interest in ASSEMBLING anything. Screw that. There are sooooo many better, more convenient tools out for reflecting or diffusing. Lastolite is just behind the times in this respect.
well don't leave us hanging, do share which tools perform the same and require zero assembly.
