I wished they fixed the original flaw on these inverters. There should be a off on switch on the USB port. THe inverter draws small power to step down the voltage to 5v. So if battery is left plugged into the inverter it slowly drains your battery and after a few days the battery is done.
There are LOTS of charging cables available on Amazon, some include things like inductive charging for Apple Watch. If you are charging something that requires PD charging with a USB-C port, it's best to use a simple USB-C to USB-C cable. The new inverter has the same 150watt maximum output on 120v AC, although others have said it can actually go a little over 150w. Scroll through the comments below, Ryobi has a newer (more expensive and larger) inverter that is well over 150w.
@@Koolbob2 The amp is only 20 watts. I think it has something to with how the power is converted from DC to AC. I was curious as to whether Ryobi addressed the problem.
@@cbgslinger well most inverters don’t produce a true sine wave and that may affect the amplifier’s sound. Home Depot is pretty good about accepting returns, you could give one a try.
@@Charlesdavid2009Yes, I believe it's called phantom power. Not sure why there is no proper shut off switch. Is it that difficult to install? You have to remember to remove the battery when not using.
The bummer is, with the newer version you have to turn on everything(include AC) in order to use either the LED light or the usb c charging port. The AC itself will consume more than 2W even nothing connects to it, huge waste of energy. I wish it has a dedicated button for the AC outlet though, while all other things share another switch
Yeah that's the next step for Ryobi or whoever - an inverter or power station that can provide power while it's plugged into the house mains. Would be even better as a feature on one of their larger (300-watt or so) units.
If the cpapp draws less than 150w then it should work. This is the smallest power source Ryobi makes, they have larger capacity power sources that operate off their 18v or 40v batteries that might be even better.
I have a 30 watt foldable solar panels and I tried it on mine and it totally works lol you forgot that big part. We can charge Ryobi batteries with solar panels. How about that huh?
Wow, that's weird! I've used mine to power my digital camera for many hours at a time and charge my phone during power outages with no problems. Some ideas: try a different USB cable, unplug and reinsert the Ryobi battery, make sure the Ryobi battery is charged. I wonder if the charger thinks it isn't being used and shuts off, can you see that your phone is charing when it times out?
I considered buying a powerbank, but I already have numerous high capacity Ryobi 18v batteries, enough to keep RYi150C powering my Z9 or Z8 cameras powered in 'auto capture' mode for days without recharging any batteries.
I don't see why not, you can charge a Ryobi battery connected to this using any USB-C PD source. A USB-PD cigarette adapter and USB cable should do the trick.
I've found a few uses for mine. Besides keeping laptops, iPads and cell phones going when the power goes out I use it to power a camera and recharge the camera's battery when I'm shooting wildlife photos from a hunting blind for hours on end. It also beats using up four "D"-cell batteries or toting a 100' extension cord when I want to bring my Pickleball ball launcher to the courts to practice. :)
Charging your typing batteries and using it as a power bank for cell phones, tablets and laptops are the main reason people buy this. But you can also power a CPAP machine overnight if you have a power outage, a small fan for ball games or camping trips, an internet router during a blackout, 24 inch LED tv for a couple hours (or more with a bigger battery). I’ve done all those already. Never thought of a pickleball launcher though, I gotta try that!
The RYI150c adds a lot of power options for Ryobi 18v one+ battery owners. To break past the 120v @ 150w threshold you will need a much larger battery like the ones in power stations that sell for much, much more. www.amazon.com/s?k=power+station+120v&ref=nb_sb_noss
@Koolbob2 not a bigger battery just a bigger inverter, the RYi8030A is 800 watts and can be powered by 18v battery or car battery. It's only $150 and can be found cheaper
@@gunfighterzero I wasn't familiar with the RYi8030A, it looks like a great solution if you need 120v/300w when powered by a 18v battery and don't mind lugging it around. I bought the RYI150c to power my mirrorless camera via USB-c PD when I'm photographing wildlife in a blind and need to shoot photos/video for hours at a time so it is perfect for my needs and takes up very little room in my backpack.
@@Koolbob2 Agree, it has some use cases, however Ryobi has continued to produce ONLY Modified Sinewave inverters (150w, 300w, 800w, and even for their biggest 1000w units). Seriously not hard to do and then simply charge us (pun intended 😜) for the additional cost involved.... but Nope!
I do buy the extended warranty on larger items like power washers. The first Ryobi electric power washer I bought died after about 18-months and Home Depot exchanged my dead power washer with the newer improved model for free under the extended warranty. I bought a new extended warranty with my 'free' replacement power washer and had it replaced under warranty a couple of years later. :) I usually don't buy extended warranty for cheaper items like the 120v/USB power source.
Different devices have different needs. 30W is plenty for my mirrorless cameras, but not enough for my laptop. If you want/need 100w, then yes you will need something bigger and more expensive.

150 watts is very limiting. Just buy a nice battery bank for less and it’s smaller than this thing.
I considered buying a powerbank, but I already have numerous high capacity Ryobi 18v batteries, enough to keep RYi150C powering my Z9 or Z8 cameras powered in 'auto capture' mode for days without recharging any batteries.
Nice a little pricey
Can you charge this from a car battery 👍
I don't see why not, you can charge a Ryobi battery connected to this using any USB-C PD source. A USB-PD cigarette adapter and USB cable should do the trick.
You should do ASMR with your voice. No joke
I go night fishing so I use it charge phone
what the heck can you do with this besides recharge a laptop or cell phone??
150 watts at 120v is still pretty lame.
Some laptops can be pretty thirsty
Seriously not hard to do and then simply charge us (pun intended 😜) for the additional cost involved.... but Nope!
They only have 120v, I need 240v 😢
Do you buy their extended warranty’s on Ryobi tools and Chargers/batteries ⁉️
2-2-2024 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 REMEMBER THE ALAMO 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I do buy the extended warranty on larger items like power washers. The first Ryobi electric power washer I bought died after about 18-months and Home Depot exchanged my dead power washer with the newer improved model for free under the extended warranty. I bought a new extended warranty with my 'free' replacement power washer and had it replaced under warranty a couple of years later. :) I usually don't buy extended warranty for cheaper items like the 120v/USB power source.
30 watts for USB C is shit. 65w is required. Since want 100
Different devices have different needs. 30W is plenty for my mirrorless cameras, but not enough for my laptop. If you want/need 100w, then yes you will need something bigger and more expensive.
Link to Amazon charging cable?
There are LOTS of charging cables available on Amazon, some include things like inductive charging for Apple Watch. If you are charging something that requires PD charging with a USB-C port, it's best to use a simple USB-C to USB-C cable. However, items that do not require high current can be successfully charged with a USB-A multi-charging cable like the one I have. There are lots of options, but I think this is very similar to the cable I have. www.amazon.com/Charging-USAMS-Multiple-Connectors-Compatible/dp/B07QXVCFD1/ref=sr_1_5?crid=53MJWCIOVSNF&keywords=multi+charging+cable&qid=1686592358&sprefix=multi+charging+cable%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-5
