Hope you enjoy this one guys, the third and final episode will go live in November. Cheers for the support ♥
I did enjoy though couldn't hear the bikes sound.
Did I miss part 3 or did you not upload it? Would be great to see it... Really enjoyed them. Thanks
I started motorbiking adventure about similar time and age. I was getting to my 30s, was never into bikes really but got mates who were and I just started getting used to motorbikes not knowing anything about them. What sparked my decision for getting a licence was a workmate showing me a picture of brand new, 2016 Z1000R he'd ordered. I remember the thought of getting a bike for myself that went through my mind. Didn't wait too long, in March 2016 did a direct access in a week, failed my first mod2 attempt, passed a couple of weeks later, had my first bike - yamaha FZ6 in April, discovered how beautiful Wales is and was astounded such beautiful landscapes are only 100 miles away from where I live. It was watching YT videos that gave me an idea of a trip to Alps. so 6 months after sitting on a bike for the first time I was riding to the Alps on my own and if that wasn't enough I was fully packed with a tent intending on wild camping XD I'd been on my feet for some 36 hours (left right after my night shift on Saturday morning) yet I almost didn't have any sleep I was so scared twitching on any sound outside. But the Alps...I simply got addicted. I only passed through in 2 days and went further on to Poland to visit my parents (it was 3000 miles in 3 weeks) but I was back again in 2017 for a week and then in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 twice and I've just been a few weeks ago and planning to go again in September. I usually spend there about two weeks just riding, riding and more riding. The funny thing is, the guys who got me interested in bikes in the first place they own bikes but almost never ride them. In a year they make fewer miles than I do in one trip to the Alps and since 2018 I've been carrying bikes in my campervan so I usually do some 1000-1200 miles of pure Alpine passes. Too bad ferry tickets doubled in price since the pandemic and the fuel is up by 30%, it makes the whole thing noticeably more expensive but in the end of the day it's holiday. It's worth it.
I am only now watching this series but hand on heart it is beyond amazing. Such a journey. Such an experience Joe and you have inspired me to focus on what I want most in 2024 after a difficult start to the year. I have nothing more to say other than THANK YOU. Such an inspirational series. More than you will know. Stay true to yourself and always travel safe
I haven't ridden a bike for over 20 years now, but I still miss that camaraderie that the majority of bikers have for each other just in passing. I'm not surprised that that small almost seemingly insignificant gesture from that pillion all those years ago triggered you like it did. In over 20 years of car driving I can't recall it ever happening from another car driver. I'm sure if I was in a "special" car of some kind it would happen from time to time, but when I was riding bikes it rarely mattered what type of bike people rode, you'd still frequently get that gesture of acknowledgement.
I totally get your enthusiasm for this trip! I love the Alps and go there as much as I can - its my happy place and somewhere I would more to if I had the money. The scenery, roads, climate, people, food - it all just fits together. I've done many Cols on my road bike including the Galibier (from your decent side) - unfortunately the weather was not as good as you had it! I'm heading to the Italian Alps in July for a week to do the Stelvio Pass and others and then over to the French Alps for another week of road biking. Looking forward to your review of Alpe D'Huez in part 3 as I've done that 3 times now and it is a mecca for road biking and Bourg d'Oisans is just a wonderful place to be! 🙂
You have a good pace there at times joe, love to see you and Chris do a road trip together 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
I so really enjoyed watching this, the enthusiasm in your voice is infectious. I'm in my mid 50s now and long to do a European road trip and especially around the Alps, one day maybe, one day. Thanks for doing what you do. 💪👌👍
Just bloody well do it. I'd never ridden a motorbike until I was in my early '40s. I'm now 68 (still working) and I've done nearly 30 tours in Europe including many tours in the Alps. Planning on touring Corsica and Sardinia next year. Best advice is to find 3-4 mates of a similar standard to yourself to go with, get a decent bike (a GS/GSA is perfect), the best riding gear you can afford and pack light. And there are no prizes for being an iron butt. Max 200 miles/day in the mountains, max 500 miles/day on fast roads and motorways
@@mickfinn2596 what a fantastically motivational reply, the first thing I need to do is find myself some mates lol
There is a moment as I twist down into Monaco on my K1600 GT in 2018 just like this which was the moment that confirmed starting and fulfilling my Motorcycling journey had hit me. A song my dad and I listened to driving around the circuit (when I was there last as a kid thinking to myself one day I will come here on a motorbike!) suddenly came on in my helmet on my comms set. It was like he was with me again.
Jo this video choked me up a few times. It’s amazing how these little things mean so much 🙌
Enjoy Aus mate
JH
Maybe I was just in the mood for it, but this video hit so many high notes. A graceful and genuine way to share a beautiful experience and catharsis and the relatable pain of being in the saddle for too long. Wonderful video.
Once a biker you are always in the special club, we stick together and always help each other when we can ! Stunning ride and film Joe! I always think motorcycling is like flying without leaving the ground!
Love that comment "I always think motorcycling is like flying without leaving the ground!"
I wish they did stick together. Hardly any bugger even nods these days.
Thank you Joe for this next part of your GS adventure tour. I am really enjoying this content and you seem more chilled and relaxed on the bike than when you are behind the wheel...maybe that's for many reasons. I have itchy feet to get my bike license a few people I know have just recently passed theirs. Keep it shiny side up.
Great video. Part 1 too. I did the red rock road in my 981 Cayman GTS July of this year. Absolutely loved it, I got so excited when I realised where I was. Love watching your road trips Joe, keep at it!
You have summed up why I have been doing this for years. There is just not a better experience.
After our Honeymoon in the Ecrin Alps our handy Satnav sent us over Galibier to Le Chunel, a week before the TDF was cycling over! It was mental but totally cool. Bikes and Campers everywhere. We even, in my Octavia, followed the Skoda cycle team for a while. Awesome roads.
Well, this is my next trip on the GS sorted! 👌
Amazing how nimble that huge bike seems when you ride it on those narrow roads.
I don't share your enthusiasm for motorbikes but this is a fabulous trip. Thanks for bringing us along.
Great video.
Brilliant video Joe, that's what being a petrol head is all about. Absolute pleasure mate, thanks for sharing.
motorbike is the best form of transport
Been waiting for this😋
Love your videos man! Thank you for making them!
Part 2 is even better! Lovely!!
Absolutely wonderful!
I have seen so many videos of the red rock road... this is the first time I've felt it. Just brilliant!👌
Epic stuff to watch, thanks for providing a blueprint for a future adventure!
Incredible roads! Thanks for sharing your awesome adventure, Joe 😊
Living….oh so true, great vlog, thanks for the effort, wonderful to watch 🇦🇺
thanks for sharing that journey, brother! love the story! glad you're finally on a bike yourself and enjoying it. best
Thanks for sharing Joe 👍
Those vids and your commentary are delightful !
Thanks Joe for sharing your happiness 🥰
You have epitomised what being on a bike is all about. Brilliant video Joe. Riding like a pro mate.
You made Saturday afternoon an absolute pleasure mate, thank you!
Congratulations on another great motorcycle video.
This was great and I really enjoyed it!
Joe, really loving your content! You are an inspiration for all of us! Cheers from Canada
Hi Joe, excellent couple of videos. Have you uploaded part 3?
Cheers
Jason.
Ah what scenery mate! I drove that last year in a 991 GT3 Manual on a PetrolHead Tours, looks a bit easier on a bike! Roads are quite narrow! 😅
Really enjoyed that Joe, I’m not a bike guy, but can see why its so appealing to many. Looking forward to part 3.
Keep up the good work
Stunning scenery Joe glad u enjoyed it
Great looking bike aswell BMW
Joe, thank you for this video, and for your content in general. Your hard work and being true to yourself is taking you to great places. Appreciating the bike content as well. Would be cool to hear more about how you train for these rides (and your training routine in general).
Brilliant Jo really enjoyed this vlog and your passion for motorcycling. It’s a totally different experience and feeing being on Motorcycle then four wheels keep them coming very inspiring 👍🏻👍🏻
I absolutely enjoyed this video, thank you. I'm looking forward for the third part. As I saw the corner of "your little story", I immediately remind the scene from the Petrolheads Tours video - it is my all time favorite, I watched it many times.
Great to see you on a bike Joe 👍Really enjoyed the content.
Great content thanks for sharing 🎉
Love it - it's such an achievement given you've not been riding long! Ugh can it be summer again already
Ballsy man, ballsy! 😬🫣 Thanks for the tour! 👍🏿
Awesome video Joe.
The Alps are breathtaking and you’ve shown the beauty perfectly.
Cycling them is even better. 🫶🏻🏆🥇
Val Loire to Briancon via Galibier on a bike is awesome. One of my best rides. Don’t tell everyone like I’ve just done..nice vid. My advice is when you’re pushing on a bit , get in a lower gear than you think.
Absolutely beautiful views, my kind of road….
Joe, my man!
I need to do something like this. I hope its as cathartic as it looks.
Very much enjoying watching your bike adventures. Having been a certified car enthusiast all my life, my bike test is coming soon. I've bought a my dream bike already Honda VFR 800 VTEC (for when I pass), and plan on buying a Honda Africa Twin next year to do what you are doing! Some people call me mad buying a bike, but it's exactly what you said in this video - it's called living!
Can't wait to get a bike 👌
Tidy… giving me ideas for my 2024 plans on the Hyper 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for content & sharing. Unlikely to do a similar trip anytime soon. Impressive..especially considering only 10th time on the bike
The red rock road it's call "route des gorges du cians" in french , beautifull view but boring road :) i was on this road yestersday too !!
Hi bud great vid again. But wow going past some of those cars looked like it was a bit tight ie they did not see you were there. Hey ho tho eh. 👍😝
great video here mukka
Very busy roads unfortunately but epic views. Personally now I prefer the northern parts of spain/portugal where there are great roads and very little people (it’s an age thing i’m sure) . Being surrounded by so many people all trying to just get sht done gives me serious anxiety😂. Thoroughly enjoy my own space .
Terrific video Joe - brought back memories of a motorbike trip down to Andorra and back from London with my future wife on pillion, 35 years ago. I was wondering what your Lou thought of clinging on to the rear seat.
You missed out one of the best cols in the alps between Galibier and Bonnette, ( next time do Izoard, then you can go over Bonnette) great route from there to either Vence or Castellane. Great vid btw 💪
Great video Joe. Put rehydration salts in your camelback.
Makes a massive difference over tough days in the saddle. 👍
Great videos Joe and very inspiring. Did you have any concerns over bike safety in the hotels and can is ask what tyres you are running? Many thanks. Paul.
Great video...I'm planning a trip to the Alps next year on my GS...would you consider sharing your exact route as it looks absolutely amazing
One of the best I've seen in a long time and I've seen quite a few☺️ I've ridden extensively in the Pico's and the Pyrenees but these roads look like they are on a different level...
Your route Joe looks epic, I don't suppose you have that route on a link to a map at all?
H Joe please send a route map of the region on this vid. Excellent trip Id love to try it out someday when time allows. Regards Rob
Hi Joe, if you drive by Grenoble, I'd be happy to meet and share a beer with you. BTW the BMW 220i is fantastic. Thx again for your videos
Sensational content. I can’t find part 3 though
Thank you! Part 3 is coming soon 🙏🏽
Hi Really enjoying your videos! just a quick one Why dont you use the BMW SatNAV. I'm thinking of buying one but everyone still seems to prefer there mobile?
Can you share that route Joe ?
We’d love to ride it next year
Ha. I get the willies on mountain roads….
At 14:14 overtake was dangerous. Great scenery and always assume other drivers are distracted by the scenery. FOMO kills in these scenarios
Thankfully I survived to tell the tale (and make this video) 😲
Red rock road. Better on the GS or in the RS7?
Hi Joe. Are you able to share your route please?
Hi Joe, what maps are you using on your phone please. Mick
would you consider doing channel membership? i know I would be a member!
Great video Joe. I would love to drive the Red Rock road and all the roads in that film. The weather helped up that mountain I would not like it in the rain. Looking forward to part three
does people can communicate with english or should use france ?

Pick one, the rest of your life, 2 wheels or 4 wheels?
Please be careful Joe. 2 wheels not as safe as 4. Grrrr
Hi Joe you may be very fit but not bike fit just keep riding😀😀😀
