Franklin D. Roosevelt is a station on the lines 1 and 9.
The line 1 station opened on July 19, 1900 and the line 9 station opened on May 27, 1923.
Originally these were two separate stations, independent of each other. A connecting corridor between them was built and put into service on October 6, 1942.

    Gutes Video!

Some Facts: the line 1 station originally was named Marbeuf to the side street as it's loctaed under the Champs-Elysées. The line 9 station is about 200 metres from the line 1 station and originally not connected to the line 1 station. It was name Rond-Point-des-Champs-Elysées. Only in 1942 the 2 stations were connected and renamed as a transfert station: Marbeuf-Rond-Point. In 1946 it got it's final name Franklin D. Roosevelt after the Victor Emmanuel III boulevard nearby was renamed after Franklin D. Roosevelt. Victor Emmanel as a name was scrapped as Mussolini was dictator under this king of Italy, which was then an enemy of France during WWII.
Impressions: line 1 was automated, but the total advertisement wall cladiing on line 1 simply is too much. The lighting is nice, but the colours of the seating, lamps and parts of the corridor are too (depressingly) black. Line 9 has a very unique decoration style not found in too many other stations. Even the half-elliptic original vault is hidden by aluminium panels. But again for some reason way too much (and also empty) advertisement space. The original style is still existant behind the wall screens and cladding. It looks like some sort of try-out of the late 70s. The connecting corridor is quite long, and the change of lighting halfway from lights on the ceiling to lights vertically against the wall, creating an eerie feeling, is odd.

      Thank you!
During my last trip to Paris in 2023 there was a different advertising campaign on the line 1 platform, sponsored by a different company. I should have made a short clip. Unfortunately I haven't seen the line 1 platform in its normal condition yet...

@@MetroCheck the screens are also used for information or cultural events. I guess the next few months especially for the Olympics. But even the connecting corridor is full of adverts. Way too much ... 🙄🤐🤔
