I have a question that was on my mind for like 5 years, as an east european... why does 99% of the fish cooking in US involves fillet? Even when it's done with a skilled hand and tool it feels like a lot of waste and time. On a day to day meal, we usually cut it as medallions and the tail part as one piece.

Video idea: catfish bait test. Go to a spot that you know is good for catfish, rig up a bunch of poles, and put a different type of bait on each (ie different species, live/dead, artificial, etc) and see which catches the most fish and is the winner.

I enjoy the catch and cook videos. I keep a really sharp pocket knife in my gear...has a nice, locking 4" blade, and a fillet knife in a leather case. You could also just get a "Leatherman" tool. Plus...when you're at Walmart, go the the aisle with spices and get some Lemon Pepper seasoning. Walmart has their own brand in plastic shakers with a top, for .98¢. Spray some of that cooking spray on the fish then sprinkle on the lemon pepper. Works well on most fish.

If you ever catch drum and wanna do a catch n cook not on the banks though here's a recipe, fillet the drum, marinate in milk overnight (yes *MILK*), take it out of the bag wisk 2 eggs then dip fillets in wisked eggs and then dip em in flour or any prefferd fish fry, then dip em again in eggs and then dip em one more time in flour or fish fry to give them that crispy outside layer, then put butter on frying pan, wait till melted, then put fillets on pan add salt on fillets on both sides and add pepper (optional) or any other seasoning you'd like, wait till crispy yellowesh brownish on both sides then take out fillets put on a plate make french fries side (optional) and a cup of ketchup, dip in ketchup and enjoy, it's a really good recipe hopefully you'll like it 👍🏼🎣.

Lol.... Sounds like me... Aged, retired, and disabled... SMH&Sigh 😤😜. But changing that to aged, tired, retired, and disabled. When I was moving, everything by myself, halfway through, my pants leg caught on my trailer hitch and I fell on top of a small plant stand onto the garage floor and broke my hip. Oct. 31, 2016. Trick or Treat anyone? Got myself up onto my creeper, wheeled myself around to get a few things in order, got all 5 doors to the van shut, called the ambulance "Come get me. No sirens, Please!" Never got to go fishing again and now live vicariously through these videos! Thank you 618!

I'm a bit jealous that they have opportunities like CZcams that weren't around when I was active in outdoor stuff. I was a self employed general building contractor for over 35 years and I would have filmed many how to videos too if it had been an option. Times sure have changed. bigfoot wallace was a texas ranger from back in the old republic days. he wrote about catching and eating a GASPERGOO (freshwater drum) when he was crossing cowhouse creek or the leon creek (leon river). being a ranger, he never forgot seasoning.
keep the videos coming. i really enjoy them.

Hey nick! I’m from Shelbyville, Illinois so maybe an hour and a half or two hours from you. Here in town is the spillway from Lake Shelbyville that feeds the Kaskaskia River. We have some giants here at the spillway including huge flathead and channel cats and even some world class musky. We also have great walleye and sauger and some great Carp fishing. I would love to see you visit and if you wanted to I would be glad to show you around!

Yo man I appreciate what you're doing - I'm just starting out and have a brand new appreciation for the effort and time I know other youtubers are putting into these videos. Thing I'm jealous of - we live in similar locations, and there's NO spillways around here and they are my favorite to fish lol.

Better than most catch & cook folks. You see most just take a bite. You fished that fish!.... I a few times a year do the dame on the river by me. Only one dif. I rotisserie mine over a wood burning fire. Next time don't forget the dang seasoning. 😁👍👌
