- What is a Le Mans 24 hour race? Where and when is Le Mans race? Who drives in Le Mans? What cars and manufacturers compete in Le Mans? What is Le Mans top speed? I'll answer all of these questions and more in just 3 minutes!
I think endurance racing is really interesting but I never understood how these races work, until now! Now I'm an even bigger fan and my respect for these teams is just enormous. Hope you like it too!

The 3 mins of Le Mans, explained in 24 hours
That would be great. Full history on racing, cars, the companies competing, the narratives etc.
lmao
this felt like longer than 3 minutes because there was so much information jammed in. Very easy to understand though, nice work!
To clarify, hybrid car electric motors do not add performance; they only increase fuel efficiency.
which leads to more performance
@@syntheovaldy5173 Not necessarily. If used negatively, it can actually degrade your overall performance. It's not that simple.
I think for lmp1 cars it did add performance, what you said is correct for the new hypercard
But I'm not sure tbh
The open-cockpit LMP2 cars were my favorite cars to see back in the day. Fond memories in Le Mans.
First i started watching f1 . Now,You introduced me Le man damn broo
This is so helpful & straightforward!! More ppl need to see it for sure
wow 😮, very explained 👏 thanks !
You should also do other types as well. Surprisingly there aren't that many motorsport explanation videos out there in the wilds. This kind of explanation is very informative and short with minimal technical details for absolute beginners
This actually helped a lot! Thanks!
That's so awesome to hear man, glad I could help 😁
Wow thx
It's actually race day so gonna watch it for a bit
Brilliant explanation. Thank You for this.
Nicely explained
That explanation was dope
Thank you, really appreciate it! 🙌
Very undrrated channel
Thank you so much, that means a ton to me! 🙏😄
Thanks for the great video! I really need to start watching other forms of auto sport, other than F1. Maybe I should start watching GT races!
Yes! GT racing is the best in sports car racing. For me personally is thanks to the variety in cars.
I don't need LMP racers for variety when I have Aquila CR1 GT3 in Special Saloon Cars Denmark or the KTM X BOW GT2 in SRO GT2 or the Pagani Zonda GR in the ESET Cup Series.
GT race cars have different shapes from manufacturer to manufacturer. That's my favorite thing about them.
For most people it's the close wheel to wheel racing because GT cars are solid and made equal with BOP.
Amazing video! Hope you get the subscribers you deserve soon.
Thanks bro, I really appreciate that! 🙌
Super. Thank you.
Before i watched this vid, i thought Le Mans was part of Formula 1 💀
Me too😂
No, but if you're curious about where it might overlap.....quite a few with history in F1 (or younger talents not yet in F1) also try endurance racing like this. Long ago some active F1 drivers would do this during the same season, but right now their F1 wouldn't let them.
There is a legendary trophy, no official one, the holy trinity of motorsports so to speak......you can brag about it if you win this race, the Monaco grand prix in F1 and the Indianapolis 500 in what is now Indycar. All three of these races are older than the championships they're part of.....says something about the legendary status they have. Only 1 driver has won all 3 of them, Graham Hill. Won in Monaco in 1963, '64, '65, '68 and '69, he on at Indianapolis in '66 and won at Le Mans in 1972.
Only 2 active drivers are at a point they could still do it, having completed 2 of the 3 achievements:
Fernando Alonso - won at Monaco in 2006 and 2007, at Le Mans in 2018 and 2019, not yet at the Indy 500.
Juan Pablo Montoya - won at Monaco in 2003, Indy 500 in 2000 and 2015, not yet at Le Mans.
I was at the 24 hours race in 2005, great memories, all the more since I had memory damage since then.
Damn, you are mind boggling at explaining 😮🎉
Thank you so much
Love the video! ❤
dude thank you
nice video
Magnificent Job
Thanks bro really appreciate it! 🙌
Great video!! ☺️
Thank you so much! 😄
This needs to blow up
Damn thanks man, really appreciate it 🙏
Nice video ❤❤
My man! You never dissapoint, thanks! 😄
@@urbanonwheels thankk you u too🦾🦾🔥
not expected this much explanation in such short video.
Great video! Thank you! : )
Thank you, love it.
Please do more in depth explanation next
Great content man
Thanks man, really means a lot! 😁
This is pretty neat, thanks!
Very clear and well explained
Happy to hear that, thanks a lot! 🙏
Thank you! Deserves more views
Thank you so much, really appreciate that!
PLease make a updated version
How races are set like they only one 24 hours race a year or any other races ?
Wow you cleared all my doubts
Thank you
Ayy so happy to hear this, thanks for watching! :)
Do all cars race against each other? Or do they race only against other cars of the same category?
I think you will find that the car that travels the furthest distance crosses the line first!
Only for the overall winner. Every category after the overall leader crosses the line will hit the chequered flag laps behind the overall winner in distance.
The car that crosses the line first in its own class will be the car that has travelled the furthest in its own class.... Is that better? Could get more technical but I don't think we need to.
Please make a video on F1 and Nascar
what happens when a GT class covers more distance than an LMP1? also if its about who covered the most distance why do we need a finish line?
btw awesome video I loved it!
If a GT car covers more distance they finish ahead in the overall standings and the winner of the race is who has the most distance. The Finish Line is as it's pretty much 24 hours + finishing the lap you are on (It also acts as the start line and defines where the pit lane can be)
Yeah Bartsimho explained it well! Thank you bro 🙏
It used to happen back in the late 90s when the GT1 class became for a short period of time the fastest class at le mans.
With that being said at that time GT1 cars did look more like prototypes than GT cars.
@@bartsimho1192 thanks man.. :)
@@urbanonwheels again, awesome video.. :))
remeber this year and fowards lmp1 dosent exist anymore and has been replaced by the cheaper lmdh and lmd class witch alos races in the imsa series
Oh I didn't catch that! Thanks for the update :)
porsche in france now: 🤩🤩
porsche in france then: ☠☠☠☠☠☠
So, every category has different winners?
So technically porche makes most reliable engines
That’s 480 times faster than 24 hours of Le Mans
As a fan of Le Mans for 7 years, pretty spot on - just to note though, the LMP1 class has been replaced with Hypercar class, and the GTE classes are in the process of being replaced by GT3 (from 2024 onwards) :)
Thanks bro, appreciate it and thank you for the extra info! 😁
Is there something about the licensing of the three drivers as well?
Real racing 3, Grid Autosport, Blur (2010 - underrated), Forza Motorsport 3, PGR racing 3 have got me into racing and I'm grateful for it.
Makes me wish I had the support and money to get into karting before teens. Oh well. And this was a marvelous explanation too!
are there separate winners for each of the different categories?
Yes. There is a winner for each category and overall winner
Yes. There is a winner for each category and overall winner
You’ll enjoy and understand best if set playback speed to .75. My goodness!
1:34 but if you finish first position in 24 hours that means you had to cover the most distance? How is that line not redundant? Even if the second and third car weren’t overlapped they finished after therefore you just give them that respective position
I was confused when first learning about Le Mans but you explained everything
Joest raicing woah lobely
❤❤
Do you know them? :)
@@urbanonwheels yes lovely***
Out of 4classes of cars
Is it not obvious that Lmp1(hypercars) will probably win in each ?? Make me clear
one thing hypercar is not LMP1
Ngl I had to play it at 0.75x speed to absorb all of that!
New to Le Mans racing, please throw everything you think I should know at me, please.
That last drop.....
😮
I'm here cause i watched gran turismo
the le mans pronounciation tho lol
You mean 24 hours of safety cars
So manufacturers rarely enter anymore and that LMP class sucks, since they all use the same motor...No need to cheer for any team because they are basically, all the same
Excuse my ignorance, but are you pronouncing Le Mans correctly? Or have you used English pronounciation because youre speaking English? Is it pronounce "Le Mans" or Le Mon"?
Hey I actually wasn't even thinking how I pronounce it, it's probably an english version that I heard most often. But I have no idea what the correct pronunciation is 🤷♂️ Le Mon sounds legit tho 😆
Manchester United of le mans?
Great video but the whole time youre pronouncing it wrong. Its not "le mans" but "le mon"
Does that mean that you can explain 24 hours of Le Man to 480 people during the race?
LMP1 was already dead for two Le Mans races when the video was recorded. Not a very useful video building up to the 2023 race. Watch Formula Josh or similar CZcamsrs for actually informative videos about that topic.
My bad, thanks for the suggestion!
I think for human safety we should shut down all racing forever.
Very well explained
