  • After facing devastating loss as a child, Nomzamo Mbatha was attuned from an early age of how despite everyone’s differences, suffering, resilience, empathy and hope bind us all. Her talk is a call to action for reaching out beyond physical and psychological borders, to recognize that whether you are a refugee, an African, a European, rich or poor, the ties that bind us are stronger than those that separate us. (Recorded at TEDxKakumaCamp on June 9, 2018) Nomzamo Mbatha is a South African actress, activist, television and film producer, brand ambassador and model. Famous for playing "Moratiwa" in the South African romantic comedy: “ Tell Me Sweet Something”, she is using her platforms to advocate for refugees in Africa and beyond as High-Profile Supporter of the UNHCR LuQuLuQu campaign. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
