How best to stop a mule from pulling away.
When a mule is about to bolt from us we need to be ready to take action and get control of his feet; the only way to stop them from bolting is bending their head to either side; to achieve a successful recovery, we must always stay in a perpendicular line to the mules drive line and bend his head, we need to be fast in both our thought and movements to stop this animal from getting away, if he gets his head and neck in a straight line along his body, we will never be able to stop them and the safest thing to do is to let go. However, if we are able to identify when the mule is about to bolt and we move our feet fast enough, we can be able to stay at or behind his drive line and pull his head around which will in turn make the mule face us again. (ha, not bad for a 62.5 yr old!)
