They aren't SUPPOSED to be flawed and relatable. Without Melkor's discord being mixed into the Music of the Ainur the elves would have been utterly perfect so idealization can actually be achieved by the best of the best of them. That's not hamfisted that is just one part of the varied bits of religious theme Tolkien put into his work.

I think that Smith of Wootton Major and especially Giles of Ham will be more than suitable for her :) And my little nephew, 5 years of age, when i recited the first passage of Hobbit smoothly continued: "nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat". I'm hoping Thranduil is seen in The RIngs of Power in more of a Legolas role, as he was more of a "normal" elf while he and his father lived in Doriath, Oropher didn't actually become king until after the fall of Doriath. I want to know more about his relationship with Oropher, and what drama must have happened between him and Gil-galad to keep him from wanting to wait for the charging order like the other elves. Since a lot of things took place in Doriath, it would make sense if he and his father could appear.. Apparently they also felt that Galadriel and Celeborn encroaching on their space as well wasn't good, so they kept moving north. The Sindar seemed to be the most "hippie" and nomadic, basically drifting around and living life in the forests and wanting to cut themselves off from politics and the outside world.

Something that almost never gets mentioned in these sorts of videos is that being held prisoner by the elves, the Sylvan elves included, was very pleasant. They only locked up the dwarves in the Hobbit because Thorin had all but spit in Thranduil's face and Thranduil remembered the night the dwarves tunneled into the city of Menegroth and slaughtered a bunch of elves in their sleep and sacked the city and stole the Silmaril, which they later lost deep underground, the stunty bastards, but I digress.
Golum even got to get taken for walkies, which admittedly is how he escaped. He and his escort were ambushed but orcs and the escort was fine, because of course they were, but Gollum got away, the stunty bastard...

The Elves only seem to calm down in the later age in which The Hobbit and later on Lord of The Rings take place.

    Two small corrections:
Oropher was killed in The Battle of Dagorlad after 5 years of different battles of the War of the Last Alliance. The Battle of Dagorlad was the major battle, not the first one.
Thranduil's reign started in the late Second Age (SA 3434) after Oropher's death. But his coronation was at the start of the Third Age. Accession to the throne and Coronation are two different events. Usually coronations are held in the most significant Realm's place thus Thranduil's coronation took place in the Woodland Realm after 7 years.
Example from our world: The accession of Queen Elizabeth II took place on 6 February 1952, but her coronation was held only on 2 June 1953 (1,5 years later). Tolkien was familiar with this stuff very well , he witnessed 6 reigns and 4 coronations.
