In this video - VAGANOVA vs ROYAL Ballet Academy & School - I am joined by the wonderful Claudia Dean and we’re going to be comparing our ballet school experiences! So Claudia studied at the famous Royal Ballet School in London and I graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint-Petersburg. We both were really lucky with our educations because these schools are considered among the worlds best. But! Have you ever been interested in what’s different and what’s similar in these schools, in schedules, methods, uniforms, subjects, etc.? Today we’re chatting about it all!

I prefer Vaganova 🥰🥰
Can you compare Paris Ballet Opera and Vaganova please?
I love how they are "looking" at each other.
Lol
They probably put their FaceTime device where they’re looking
Maria, I don't know if anyone have told you but your surname, Khoreva, means "I was dancing" in Greek. Just a very fun fact I thought you should know 💃🏼
...and in Italian "correva" means she was running :)
@@istvantoth5466 Ha, also a fun fact!
@@monttanaro5363 Haha it's ok. How do you say "dancing" in Portuguese?
She mentioned it in a video a while back 😅🥰
Αυτά είναι
LOVE this you 2! Brilliant and so fascinating.
Kathryyyyyyn!!
I would love to see a collab between the three of you!
🤩🤩🤩
@@saranunez8549 that would be fabulous
Hey Kathryn!!!!!
The CZcams collab we didn’t know we needed 😍
I agree❤️
You really did not, but wdf
Maria, I‘m so excited! Thanks for the collab!
If there’s any chance, can you do the same style of video with Kathryn Morgan and compare Vaganova style to the Balanchine training? That would be so amazing!!!
Can you maybe suggest any topic?
Maria Khoreva of course! 🙂 The principals in training really differ in the styles. Balanchine has stuff like not putting heels down in jumps to increase speed. And the topics you covered in this video are great! SAB and summer intensives compared to the Vaganova school etc 🥰
Btw your English is so fluent and it‘s impressive how comfortable you are speaking in a language that‘s not your native language! ❤️
@@MariaKhoreva Great video Masha!! You should do a video comparing companies with someone from NYCB or ABT! Also would like to see you chat with/interview May!!
@@MariaKhoreva I was thinking the same. A comparison with Balanchine would be great. Also with Cecchetti. 🙏🏻 As topics I'd simply go with what you covered in your comparison with Claudia here and let Kathy, and maybe even Tiler Peck, tell what it's like for SAB/NYCB, even though you probably wouldn't mention in detail how it is at Vaganova in a new video since you already did in this video. But in addition to that you could do a comparison of summer intensives, differences in training/style, the typical set up of a morning class, myths and fun facts, challenges for dancing a balanchine piece for Vaganova trained dancers and vice versa, difference in pointe work/port de bras, ...
Maybe this helps? ☺️ Thanks for sharing so much here on CZcams! ♥️
@@MariaKhoreva I would love to hear you compare the teaching styles (not just ballet styles, TEACHING styles), what backgrounds people usually come from when they attend your schools (previous education/competition experience, country, culture), how people come into contact with the schools (does everyone know about the possibility of a ballet education and career, or is it something only dancers know because their ballet teachers tell them about it? what inspires people to apply?) how much contact you had with press/media + how your schools are represented in tv shows and movies, and what position being an aspiring dancer or pro dancer gave you in your culture/country with "normal" people :)
YES! please do a video of company Mariinsky and Royal comparison!
Xander Parish would be good on that
Today my mum had a heart opperation. I was so nervous, but this video makes me so happy ❤ it's all i need right now
I hope she is doing well and all went okay!!
Big hug from a ballet lover to another 🙋♀️
Sending you love
I hope she’s doing well, I wish her the best 🤍
Sending u 🍀
Marie is so lovely and poised, gracious and kind… what a beautiful spirit. So much fun to watch her do anything!
This video fixed my entire life. No more sadness, just this video
Maria is a wonderful ballerina, a great communicator and I'm astonished at how well she manages English. She achieved so much in her life, so far; what more should we expect from this beautiful and inspiring young lady? I'll keep on following her along her amazing journey. 🌹✨💪🏻
It is incredible that somebody so young with a Slavic language as a first language speaks English so amazingly.
@@jwhippet8313yea the grammar is spot on too. English has Germanic grammar most of the time and some Latin so I imagine it would be hard to learn.
this video is literally everything that I could want from you!! I really enjoyed watching and it was really helpful to understand the difference of two traditions, techniques, auditions etc. between two cultures. It was so entertaining to watch. I do not have any question marks in my head anymore. Thanks for uploading these kind of videos for aspiring ballet dancers we are all so thankful:) I am a huge fan of yours you are my biggest idol
Miracles happen. I know it!!😇
Maria, can you maybe have a conversation with Megan Fairchild from NYCB? I love her channel, she is doing interviews with other professional ballet dancers, and it’s so interesting
Listening to these two wonderful ladies, feeling their enthusiasm and spirit of achievement despite so many difficulties, restores my faith in humanity. Thank you for a delightful time.
I’d love to see a company comparison! This was fascinating.
Thank you Maria, it's fabulous to see both of you talking about this special aspects of this wonderful schools and for sure we want to see you both together talking about the companys.
Thank you for being a truly amazing person, Maria! Much love
this was so sweet and wonderful to watch! 2 very different worlds meeting up and comparing notes. Encore!! XX

Love this. I watch Claudia’s vids all the time. And I have seen lots of Maria’s dance videos which I also enjoy very much . Great job you two! Do more!
Thank you so much for doing this video! I’ve never seen anything done like this! It was fun seeing the comparison from two beautiful dancers who have experienced it with their own eyes.

Thank you so much Maria. It was very interesting to watch. I love how you are honest. Great personality you have!

Such an amazing collab!!! I love both Maria and Claudia :)
Absolutely loved the video - great to listen to all the details; so interesting & genuine; BRAVO 👏🏼
Thank you girls, it was really interesting to listen to you both. I know quite a lot about Russian ballet school and it was very interesting to listen to Claudia. Thanks a lot!
This is the BEST COLLAB EVEER! Please do a comparison between companies!❤❤❤❤❤
You two, together and individually, have become one of my very favorite things about quarantine! I’ve watched more ballet in the last nine months than in my whole life and it makes me so happy. I haven’t danced in years but I’m taking my first actual class tomorrow! I’m excited and nervous, but mostly, I’m inspired, and honestly, so much of my renewed discovery of my love of ballet has to do with both of you, so THANK YOU ☺️☺️💞
Are you still taking ballet classes? I'm starting mine today at 25 so it's inspiring to learn that other people start later in life 😊
This was a FANTASTIC video!! I'm pretty sure I'd click on anything you guys collab on 😍 thank you for all the fascinating and insightful information!
Loved it so much! 💖Please make more videos together, you are both smart beautiful and talented.. with a great personality! Such an inspiration, love your content! Thank you very much!
This was wonderful -- loved it!! I watch all of your videos and work out with many of them -- they've been incredibly helpful and have added to my quality of life. I also watch Claudia's videos for advice and for fun. Thank you so much -- you're such an amazing ballerina and a beautiful person!
Thank you - both of you. I don't know much about ballet, but I have listened to you the whole time and now I want to learn more - many even watch a ballet irl. Thank you. Anne-Mette / Denmark.
I actually really like and appreciate the way this video is shot and edited as if they're talking to each other
My two favorite ballet youtubers getting together!!! What a treat!!! 😍 Please do a company comparison, that would be so fun!
Спасибо Вам большое от всей души. От всей души примите мои пожелания Вам всех благ и особенно здоровья, творческих успехов и удач. 🥰💝💐💐💐!
Nice chat about ballet! Thank you, you two, super ballerinas!
Thank you. Brilliant that you are friends!
Great video, enjoyed every moment ! Thanks a million !!... 🥰💕🥰💕
The only two ballerinas I consistently watch on CZcams and wow - HELLO! PREEVIT!

Wow this is amazing guys I love this so interesting hearing about the different schools 💕
The dreaming collab!😍
I can't get enough of this ballet stars and amazing people
so great to hear about life at the Vaganova Academy. So many details you wondered about all life. Thank you!! My full admiration to Maria Khoreva. Sorry if I am interested mainly in the Vaganova School....
So interesting! Love how respectful you both are to one another.
This collab is awesome! I loved it.
Amazing discussion, very interesting and great to see you both together! :-)
Thanks to the two of you, it was such an interesting and inspiring video! Very happy about this collab. Have a nice day ❤️ About the ghost question: I couldn't say yes or no but I definitely believe that it could be possible. I mean we shouldn't underestimate the things we don't know nothing about it :)
What an excellent idea! Maria, you're a great presenter and your English is excellent.
Yeayyyyyyyyy! New video!!!!!!!! Thanks Maria 🙏🏻
This is such an interesting video, also I love how you’ve made it look like your looking at each other!
I love this video! Thank you so so much! You're so inspiring, and that's so intresting!
Really enjoyed this. The conversation was so interesting. It was lovely to hear the differences, and similarties between the student experiences at each of the schools.
But Maria went right through Vaganova, from being a child to graduation - whereas Claudia Dean spent a couple of years in the Upper School. It's not the same is it?
Amazing video!!! Really interesting, with a lot of information! I think we would love to see you two comparing the companies!
Their both so amazing! I was so excited when I found this video haha!
I love the videos you have been making recently! Keep up the good work, you are fantastic maria and my biggest inspiration!
😍Love it! Thank you! so good idea to compare the schools
so happy to see you both!
Absolutely fascinating!! Thank you!!!! Maria your English is so fluent!
I have seen this video in English and I understood all things!!!! It's amasing! Thank you for your video, a lot of interesting information!
Wow, what a great video! Really interesting topics and thank you both for sharing such amazing information with us
You two are lovely! I certainly enjoyed listening of your schools and incoming to company experience. What a rich share. And oh, is that Vaganova's ghost I see behind you! 🌹💝👏💖
Love you Maria, and Claudia!
Love this type of video! Thank you
Yesss! Please compare the companies as well! This video was awesome🤩 So interesting and helpful for young dancers that would like to join one of those schools!
More colabs, definitely !!!.... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great video, thank you Claudia and Maria
Thank you for this vid, it was really interesting, all ballet lovers should learn about the art in different countries.
This is very interesting to hear, thank you so much!
Oh hi Claudia. I saw your program on the difference between Russia and ‘our’ ballet. Lovely to see you together - well, sort of. Thank you Maria 🙏🙏🙏🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I did Vaganova in South Africa 🇿🇦 my teacher was Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 but graduated in Moscow. I loved Vaganova but the hard work is exhausting!!
Now I’m dancing Checchetti method , but vaganova will always be my heart ♥️
I would love to hear what are the main differences.
I did Royal ballet in school in South Africa, then continued with RAD in Canada when my family immigrated. Vaganova always looks flexible at a whole different level and with more exotic artistry than Royal Academy ballet. Found pointe shoes more comfortable with RAD brands than the larger block style pointes of Vaganova.
I LIVE FOR THIS COLLABORATION 😍
Thoroughly enjoyed and very interesting. Collab with Kathryn Morgan next ☺ Love all three of you. Obviously the one main thing you have in common is the love of ballet...but the next things is that you can talk talk talk!! 😁😆
Ohhh my Goddd ,I was looking forward to this collaboration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!My wish’s come true !!!!!!!!Love you both❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was something new for me and Claudia 👂
@@MariaKhoreva it was sooo interesting!! 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
I enjoyed this so much! Please do a company comparison video 💞
The information from Claudia Dean is all on the basis of joining the RBS at 16 plus. But younger dancers are trained at White Lodge, which is very different from what Claudia describes whereas my understanding is that the Vaganova Academy takes from 11 in one venue.
Exactly what I was thinking. The White Lodge building is a beautiful old building to train in and probably more comparable but I guess it's there own experiences they're discussing.
Beautiful work by the two of them. First I met Claudia on Instagram and then Maria through a student of mine.💕💕💕
This has been so much fun to listen to!! Please compare companies LOL, that'd be fun :-D
I love this video! Please make one about the companies, it would be awesome ♡
OMG Maria, ACTING! That's the main difference between Royal vs Vaganova! The way Russian ballerinas emote every note with not just their bodies but also their facial expressions and in their eyes... it's amazing! I have just gone on a Russian vs English ballerina binge and one thing is certain; UK dancers are quite expressionless (when compared to Russian).
Omg loves the collab you are both amazing ( lol I follow both of u 😍)
Glad to hear the comparison between royal and vaganova
Claudia and Maria collabing is one of the great moments that happened
(theres also the stretching vid in claudia's ch)
Thank you. We're thinking about next video 🙄
@@MariaKhoreva thank you as well esp the hardwork in editing and more! Also looking forward for the next one
Both girls are amazing! But that Maria is just the sweetest and most charming young lady.
Amazing! I am not even a ballerina yet enjoyed watching this so much☺️
Thank you for enlightening us To prepare .
This is all I ever wanted !! :D
Really nice and informative video ! love it !
Please please please do a part 2 and compare the companies!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
Hello Maria- this was great! I wonder if you would consider a mutual ballet lesson, where you teach Claudia Vaganova style and she teaches you English style?
Good idea! ☀️
Yes, a continuation of your company experiences shared together will be a pleasure to learn. Best to you both. 💖
Such an amazing collaboration 🥰
