Honestly this flutist can barely compete with the great flutists of today...not even close. It was usually Wolfgang Schulz, one of the former principal flutists of the Vienna Phil, who was able to snap his fingers and get his favorite students, almost always Austrians, into the orchestra.
The real world is a cold, hard place. Many people CAN sleep well at night knowing that they are involved with/aware of corruption. It's scary.

part of the truth, the other side is that viennese musicians grow up in a culture that values style relatively to perfection which is why most Asian players with their incredibly perfect play have no chance in auditions (of course not in general). The VP may not be the most consistent, but among the top they have the most character and it would be a pitty to lose this these qualities.

Honestly, on of the best orchestra in the world?? Based on what? Plays only music which doesn't belong today's world and coudn't work at with female conductor. Only with male conductors who have work VPO for decades. When female conductor leads new year's concert, i may have change my opinion. VPO has lot to learn maestro rieu's orchestra. VPO lives still in 19th century, other world in 21st century and it looks clearly. Unfortunately.
    This is my opinion.
    That's all.

Outdated music? This is timeless music which is why so many people still listen to it today. Do you think music like Chief Keef will be listened to in even 50 years from now? With all due respect, go pound sand,

Totally untrue! Recently went to an opera and a concert given by the Vienna philharmonic (return ticket). Both completely full (midweek)! Hope it will play in for years to come!

@@HappyG1lm0re Take no notice...ignorant, tastless remark of no consequence.
