can we get the name and contact information for the dealer in Poughkeepsie please?
I bought a sump pump from Home Depot 8 years ago with a lifetime warranty. It went bad after 3 years and Home Depot replaced it but they replaced it with one with a 2 year warranty as they no longer offer the lifetime warranty one. This one has been going for 5 years so if it fails, I have to pay for a new one.
How do we ask scotty car repair questions? Do we just ask down here in the comments and hope he sees?
I believe the ones that were redesigned after 2016 or in 2016 are built better the crappy Nissans were the ones built from 2001 to 2015 and they were trying to save money in order to sell more to make money so they didn’t go bankrupt in the early 2000s. I but anyways I believe Nissan’s quality is higher now how much higher I don’t know it might only be slightly but I do believe the quality is better now than it was then I was even better in the 90s than it is now.
Are there not any cars of USA original companies which are affordable and reliable? (GM & Ford)

I gave my sister in law a 2012 Nissan Murano Platinum in 2016. The only thing that went wrong so far is the MAF sensor which was an easy fix. Today it has over 300,000 KM but it runs like a champ. The car was made in Japan over 10 years ago and it’s been through 10 Canadian winters.

"Life-time warranty" sounds great on paper.
Bet it will be a pain in the arse to use when it's time.
No kidding! You better make sure you get all your recommended scheduled service at the dealer. And they’ll make sure you pay handsomely for it. Plus what if the dealer is sold or goes out of business.
💯
Life time warranty means it's under warranty until it dies. Which is when you would need the warranty 🤣
Actually most people don't keep their car more than 3-5 years anyway, they're betting it's long gone before their so-called "lifetime" warranty is needed (which BTW they'll try to dispute anyway over some minor technically)
This guy is _ucked!
My grandfather brought a Buick and the dealer had a lifetime oil change program. After 15 years when he was in his 80’s the only time he drove that car was to the dealership for his free oil change. Lol. They hated him but honored it.
I hope that you keep on kicking for many more years to come, Scotty. Love your channel.
We live during AMAZING times! Scotty went from what he could fix when he was a kid, to what he cannot when he is so much wiser!
I think this is my most watched channel by far! Thank you for doing what you do Scotty!!
The warrantee is only good if you let them service it according to their maintenance schedule.
Exactly. No such thing as a free lunch.
He didnt read the fine print. He is screwed. I will
Never buy a 3 cylinder engine. And that VC is uneccessary it is nissan’s way to use us as a Guinea pig!!
There will be so many exceptions, loop holes and provisions written into that warranty, there is no way he will collect on it.
And assuming they can readily get the parts and/or engines. Trust has been lost between mfrs and buyers.
i wonder if warranty covers labor, i know some place offer UNLIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY but u pay for the labor
I never thought I'd see the day where Scott would actually praise anything modern from Nissan. And twice in one week!
I think he’s just being a nice guy in this video because his customer is with him, but for me I’m never getting another Nissan. Coming from a 2013 Pathfinder and 2018 Note.
Got one of these same trim level on a lease so I don't have to worry about durability. Honestly I really like it, super comfortable, lots of creature comfort's and engine is really peppy.
This is called the Nissan X-Trail for the rest of the world. Really popular car, one of their best selling compact SUV's to date. Still running the old first gen X-Trail, the T30 with the QR25DE NA engine. Awesome car since it's a car born before the Nissan CVT fiasco, it has a conventional AT transmission.
I just bought this engine in the new 2023 AWD Nissan Rogue two weeks ago. I drive about 9000K year. I plan to drive it for 10 years. Wish me luck!
I hope it lasts a long time for you. Personally I’m not buying another Nissan. Coming from a 2013 Pathfinder (made in USA) and 2018 Note (made In Mexico) It’s not just the trannys but poor workmanship all around. And I’ve never missed a service date. Maybe I’m just not lucky. And I really love Nissan designs. Wish I could stay loyal to them, but for me it’s time to move on.
Hows it holding up so far?
17K miles so far, no problem. Some people on forums complain that they have a burning gas smell after 10K, but I don't have that issue@@sungketpatel30
Hi any updates? How is it running
@@tim8532 No problems so far. I've been able to squeeze out 31-33 MPG on highways here in Chicagoland. No gas smell in the cabin which is apparently a problem other owners have been reporting. Been changing the oil every 5000 miles.

We bought the new Infiniti QX55 with the turbo VC with like 270hp. It is an absolute rocket, the motor is really cool. Just wish it didn’t have a CVT but it pairs well.

I'm on my 3rd Nissan. had 2 Sentra's, and now driving my 2013 Juke that turned 88,888 miles yesterday. I love it to death. Usually trade after a few years, only repair was ball joint, tie rod, and a control arm which seems to happen to these cars. Not fond of using premium fuel, but I do it as recommended.
Nissan Sentra has "Zero-Gravity Seats"!!!
Wow, a new engine design, less cylinders with a turbo for more power with less gas, and a redesigned transmission. What could possibly go wrong!
Yeah sounds like the perfect storm
My wife has an x-trail(Rogue) 2005 model she drives it like a Bastard, heavy on the brakes and accelerator! 185 000ks got with 35000ks just replaced the starter motor! The dashboard is still intact and the vehicle is a joy to drive!
"They don't make them like they used to"... that's all I can say for this scenario.
try replace it with the 1.5 turbo rogue LOL, let your wife drive it and see if it breaks after few years
Scotty mentioned kia and Hyundai engines. I just got a new engine for my 2016 kia sportage (kia paid for it ). The whole process took two and a half months. I’m happy with it so far. I bought a 2005 Toyota Camry for my backup vehicle.
Yeah, my Buddy's engine blew on his Elantra & it took him 2 months to get his engine replaced. It's nice to see Hyundai honoring their warranty even @ 70Kmiles, but what are you supposed to drive until then?
Kia Sportage engine is terrible. Always check oil level!!!!!!!
Kia engine burns oil terribly!!!!
All the new vehicles are absolutely beautiful and marvels of technology and great to drive with every convenience but they are over engineered and way beyond the most experienced technicians at the dealership. When you hear the phrase come from the Service Mgr "that's normal, there all like that, don''t worry about it." That means they don't have the expertise to analyze and repair a problem. I have 3 cars, an 05 Titan truck, simple V8 and 4 speed auto, an 06 Accord with the 2.4l bullet proof engine4 and 4 speed auto and an 18 RAV4 Hybrid with the old style port injected 4 cylinder. Yes it is a Hybrid but nobody does hybrids better than Toyota. My advice, try to find a used vehicle , low miles with tried and true technology if you can find one.
Tbh Scotty I thought I would never see a Rogue in your driveway, but the new turbo engine is so much better than the 2.5 was. Even with the cvt. I had a 2015 and 2018 with no problems. With that power train warranty it’ll be fine!
I am watching your channel because of good sleep and excellent knowledge of car worlds. thank you

And even more stupid if you paid $42,000 for it.
Actually, in a video earlier this year, Scotty said that Nissan was going out of business, and that people should not be buying their cars 🤣🤣
I'm driving one- so far best Nissan Rogue they built. i had 2017 and i traded for 2022, better fuel + very quite cabin. little less rear head room compared to last gen but more power for sure.. love it
I have the 2018 Nissan Rogue, and it also acts like it's shifting. I also get 35.5 miles per gallon on the highway and the transmission shifts smoothly and incredibly quiet highway cruising.

@@mrgurulittle7000 we'll applaud 👏 Nissan if this achieves this mark [300k+ mi, 15yrs - 'whichever comes first']. Because they do need this win - they've been the butt-end joke for JTech for far too long. They need to step-up! If they do, the consumer as always benefits.
@@mrgurulittle7000 It needn't be the engine alone, but the whole shebang! The bodywork, the wielding, the paintwork, rust resistance, interior quality, plastic durability, et cetera, et cetera!
@Ev-Ez Ayé. Yes!! But I couldn't help giving Nissan a thumbs up for trying really hard to make a good car! Lol!
The warrantee will be void somehow.
Yeah, you have to STRICTLY adhere to EVERYTHING the dealer recommends to keep that warranty intact... So if they want to charge you $150 for an oil change and tire rotation every 3k miles, you gotta do it and you HAVE to do it at that dealer franchise or it's invalid.
In the real world those unlimited warranty's from a dealership are about as worthless as the paper they are written on.
I bought a car from one and just made fun of the warranty since I wasn't going to use it anyways.

Really interesting, thanks!
If the warranty is backed by the dealer- its only as good if the dealer is still in business when the time comes. Also it up to them to determine if the issue at hand is a defect or owner neglect .
Keep your eyes on Nissian…. They are making a pitch to get back in the car game! They already have great technology for example G-TR and the new resigned Frontier Truck V6 no turbo.. The 2022 Sentra is also a great mileage car 29 to 39 miles per gallon and the CVT has not been in issue for years now. I’m a Toyota guy but, very impressed with the details of the vehicles example lines of the cars are straight & great paint. My 2022 Tacoma has terrible lines and the Paint doesn’t match throughout the truck. Thanks Scotty for the Video your the best!!!
yea they think it 2015 or 16 when they were having CVT troubles.
Nissan makes some great engines like the VQ and the VK the latter being way stronger than Toyota’s UR series. Nissan don’t have the Toyota tax and resale value means nothing to me because I drive my cars until the wheels fall off.

On #6 Nissan two rouges 4 trucks and no complaints 👍200+ k miles on three of them.

My wife has the rouge sport, she loves it, I have to admit the tech Nissan puts in their stuff is off the chain. When I test drove it it put a smile on my face. The power curve with the cvt was weird. It felt really different than I was used to. 4 years and absolutely no problems. We let them service it.
Do you let them service your cvt oil change at 25k miles? My nissan guy is telling me to do 50k but the manual says to do it at 25k and my power train warranty is only till 60k
@@DamianTran odd. It's technically 35K. But hey dealerships do whatever the heck to get your money. If they really cared. They would build better quality parts.

Well, we just bought one! And made sure to get the dealer that offered the lifetime warranty!
So far, we love it. Plus the 18 Sierra we traded needed some work. And we all know about the DOD failure
Hi Scotty, please advice Nissan pathfinder. What do you think?
Those lifetime warranties from dealers are a scam. Usually, they make you sign your service away to them. If they say something needs to be serviced, at any point, you have to do it and pay for the wearable items, or it voids the warranty (i.e. cabin air filter,... you need new tires because they seem low to US). Over the lifetime you pay for way more than you need. They are basically service contracts with the dealer and if you slip 1 time it voids the warranty. It a trap you can't get out of. It was all over the news here in Georgia a few years ago. It could be different from what I've seen, but I doubt it
Fun video!

@Keith who ever had mine before I bought it. Took really good care of it. Still drives like new.
I watched a video somewhere stating that the 4 cylinders version of the new VC engine passed the test to the equivalent of either a million or 5 million kilometres I don't remember. If the 3 cylinders did the same, then perhaps it's more reliable than people think.
Scotty, this thing will be an "endless money pit."
^ lol they got a Ricer Miata scam account on Scotty Kilmer's channel? wtf?
I have an infinite qx50 with the 4 cylinder vc turbo. 18k miles so far. Great engine. The mating to the cvt causes a slight gear search when nailing it every once in a blue moon.
Great review. But you remind me of the school teacher from south park cartoon... you could also play "Old Chucky" in a movie
And also a subwoofer in the middle of the spare tire. Nice 🔊
In my experience those lifetime warranties dictate who does maintenance. You wouldn't be able to do any DIY oil changes. You're tied to the dealership service center.
nonsense- responsible owners use factory parts and do their own service. if they have their parts receipts and document the work- warranty acceptance is never a problem.
Exactly this. My aunt’s warranty on her Mercedes basically dictates why she only takes it to the dealer for maintenance. Last visit there they told her she needed her spark plugs changed. $1700 to do it tho.

If Nissan were to dump CVTs for geared transmissions, they'd be up in quality closer to Toyota and Honda. Their motors are actually decent.
Because of their trannies, they're down in the basement with Chrysler and the Germans.
you living in the past, Nissan CVT are getting better and much more better than the one in Hyundai. go look at consumer report ranking 2021 and 2022
I brought a 22 Pathfinder because it didn't have a CVT transmission so far no issues.
Try to get your hands on a 2022 or 2023 Pathfinder with the new trany, tell us what you think.. They seem to be getting good reviews.. keep on keeping on SK
Nah
They're brand new.... Their reviews don't mean anything about long term reliability...
Mike, we got a 2022 Pathfinder Platinum 2wd. It currently has about 13k miles. We have been very happy with it. Tranny shifts well and engine is quieter compared to other VQ35 s(murano, Maxima, G35). I work on cars myself everything seems to be easily accessed except water pump :)
I had a 2002 Nissan Xterra and it was bullet proof. I put about 165K trouble free miles on it.
The nissan dealer in chicago suburbs also offers unlimited powertrain warranty, however I also got a 10 year 100K mile bumper-to-bumper for all the camera and the sensors. It's also a transferrable warranty. It's a nice feeling car, the wife likes it for the reasons you mentioned - HUD, 360 camera, heated everything...
I'd really like to read the fine print on that "lifetime transmission warranty". I can just about guarantee there's a lot of exceptions where the warranty will be void or the dealer will say "oh, that's normal". Replacing a transmission is no small job, so either Nissan is very confident this transmission won't have any problems (which I doubt, given how the previous versions have held up), or they have made sure there are so many exceptions they won't have to change practically any transmissions for free. Mind you this is a car company that's been on the verge of bankruptcy for years.
hey, it's not Nissan providing the lifetime powertrain warranty, it is the Nissan dealership. Very few dealerships will offer it, they are definitly hoping that the engine does well for Nissan.
I have the life time warranty on mine and I think the only stipulation is I take my car to get serviced at Nissan at least once a year, right now I have a 5 year service & rotation plan on it anyways so I’ll go there anyways
I bought a 3 cylinder engine many years ago. I've taken good care of it and it still runs like a champ. Of course it was made by Evinrude. The thought someone actually took out their checkbook for a three cylinder Nissan with that CVT blows my mind. In the words of PT Barnum...
Yes, I have a 3cyl Kubota Diesel in my boat, bulletproof, I would never buy a 3 cyl car.
Athefumen
Nissan make rather fantastic engines, their biggest problem is the transmision. Apparently their new design fixed the problem the old ones had, but only time will tell.
Maybe they fixed the CVT now but their reputation was destroyed by their CVT's.
@@jasonschlesinger5343 trust me it most definitely was not lmao. I see SO MANY around and know several people who are buying the ones WITH the bad CVTs. Look at chevy, they still sell like hot cakes. I mean hell even Kia/Hyundai are still in business. The simple truth is most people don't research their cars before buying them and most nissans look pretty, so they'll sell
Power train warranties usually come with a caveat. You have to do all of the maintenance at the dealership, even simple things you can DIY, and they charge you hefty amounts.

We bought my wife a brand new 2015 Rogue SL and I have done all the appropriate maintence myself including changing the CVT fluid every 30k miles from the start. The vehicle has been very reliable and we haven’t had a single issue with it except the around view camera mounted under the passenger side rear view mirror went bad so I picked up a used one on eBay for $50 instead of paying Nissan $700 for a new one. The vehicle currently have almost 100k miles on it and we have been very happy with the purchase so far.
Of note:
My wife drives it in ECO mode all the time and she is a mild mannered driver so the CVT is not being abused.
$700! What rip-offs! Good thing you turned to eBay and found one!
you are referring to the rogue. for some reason a lot of people spell it rouge- and sometimes they actually call it that. good on you for servicing your CVT every 30K and seeking out/finding an 'experienced' mirror/camera for less. do you or your wife use both feet to drive it? the CVT control unit or 'brain' can recognize that and you can actually preclude the downshifting mode at lower speeds by using the brake pedal lightly while on the throttle with your right foot. just one of several tips you can use to maximize your nissan CVT-equipped car's fuel economy. of course- being a non-aggressive driver helps a bunch in that regard, as well. enjoy!
I owned 2 Nissan Altimas and I will never buy another one again
You have an FJR 1300? I'm impressed.
Got a new European Nissan SUV Qashqai with 7-speed DCT autobox. 4-cylinder turbo engine. It's a brilliant vehicle. Plenty of poke when you put your foot down, gears are very smooth and it's very quiet and comfortable. For all you Nissan haters out there, you would be shocked at how far Nissan have improved. Great ride.
I decided to risky and take one. After 16k miles...I am in love with it...better than the kias/hyundais catching fire
Has anyone seen these cars on fire?
@@kevinstarski1598 kias and hyundais? F**k yeah. Twice, indeed. A Kia Sould and a Hyundai Santa Fé
@@diegovn Oh shit...I needed confirmation. lol
Give it time
@@kevinstarski1598 have you ever been to a salvage yard?
9:47- I’m a car salesman and you’d be surprised how many people don’t step on the brake and just press the button and I have to tell them 😂
They're the ones the auto stop feature was designed for
Because people really are that stupid
for many people- thats new technology- its simply human nature.
I LOOOOVE the funny images he puts in his videos!!! Must be an annoyance but it really goes well with his narration… Hehehehe…
Haven’t had a Nissan for 17 years but recently picked up a Frontier pro 4x. I’m confident it will be reliable.
Should be I have a 2015 nissan pathfinder with 245,000 miles 0 issues I also have a 2019 Altima with 145,000 miles also 0 issues and a 2008 nissan rouge 310,000 miles with 0 issues so I’m pretty sure the frontier will be just as reliable just make sure to always do your maintenance on time that is what I have always done and all my Nissans run perfectly that why I don’t understand why they talk down on them so much
Wow....glad to find out Honda makes their own CV transmissions.....This video made me do the research for my 2012 Accord SE with 208,000. Thanks Scotty!
I remember getting a recall for my Nissan and 3 days later a friend got a recall for his Honda Civic, both letters said the same thing and needed the same repair or programming for the CVT .
Is that coincidence?
He did say accord not civic , hes most likely talking about his experience.@@reyperez3424
With a warranty that generous on the surface, I'd be *very* concerned about the fine print and how strictly they enforce things like the typical warranty requirement that you don't outright abuse the product.
not a problem - there were plenty of people who WEREN'T as concerned and went ahead with their purchase. when you build reliable products- its like shooting fish in a barrel...
Scottie You made my ear with your fine. Honest praise of my new Nissan Rogue SV which I really love and to have you give it.
You're AOK meant a lot. I think Nissan.
Genuinely
Customizes, they're fine product.
To top quality. After 41 years with my own company, I bought me a rogue. And a double extended factory warranty for $1200. And now I don't have to tell customers when I see their nissans in the driveway. Nobody ever complained about their Nissan and they Always agree, they love their nissanow because you Scotty. I could not be more selfish. Or thank you, my friend. Tom universal overhead door company.
I got one of these recently. The 2021 SV AWD... So far so good. I will keep ya'll posted lol
2021 isnt turbo bruh, it is the older engine I assume?
We're waiting for our brand new Hyundai GDI engine right now. It's a 2012 with 95,000 miles, all dealer oil changes were done on schedule.
