    Hi Crocoblock/Paul, thanks for a great video - very useful! For this setup, I find the terminology "Sequential Filters" more accurate than "Hierarchical Filters"; I.e. I filter by field A, then by field B, than field C. Fields A, B and C are not in a hierarchy but are independent. To my mind a Hierarchical filter would be where the three filter fileds are different levels within the SAME hierarchical taxonomy. For example, a 'Location' taxonomy where the top level is a list of countries, second level is a list of cities within the country and third level is a list distrcts within the city. This set up would be incredibly useful! 👌

    Another great video Paul/Crocoblocks - with thanks. Although in testing these it seems that the filters only work left to right? Is that correct? IE On our test we have a list of travel destinations (list one) and holiday types (list two) but list two shows no values (rather than all the values) until you make a selection from list one. Have we done something wrong? Obviously (hopefully), it's easy to imagine that it would often be useful for users to see what all the drop-down options are before they make a selection and that might well prefer to start with whatever is in list two (or three) first. Likewise, it seems that nested (hierarchically listed) taxonomies aren't supported either? IE in our example, we have countries in our destinations taxonomy with nested regions inside each country and the nested regions don't show in the drop-down?

    • @Crocoblock
      @Crocoblock  Před 3 lety

    Hi, thank you for your passion of applying Crocoblock. I have learned a lot through your tutorial. And I have one question for the Car Demo site Ads Input field. In demo site, the Car Model hierachy filter can be done within Brand but when we input the Model in Car Ads add section we cannot select the Model within Brand. If the car models are so many listing too long in the selection field I think customers can feel so inconvenient to select the exact model in that long listing field.
    So I am wondering that in the Input Ads stage of the Car model, can we filter the model within Brand same as Hierarchy Filter function? What I mean is if we select some Brand then in the Model selection only the Brand related models are shown in the field then the customers can select their model in the some less amount of list.

The next step is to navigate to your custom posts, open the needed taxonomy you’ve created before, and add categories to it. Repeat the same actions for other taxonomies. Then, you need to open your custom posts, select the needed post, click on the Quick Edit button, and choose categories for this post. The last step is to create a Select filter. Enable the "hierarchical" option and add the needed taxonomy in the order you want it to be displayed (Country > States > Cities).

      Hi! Could you please describe in more detail what you would like to achieve? Do you want to upload ready-made taxonomies?

      @@Crocoblock Hello, I have 2 problems.
      1) create a very large list of taxonomies by hand (I can only use glossary for CPT) [I already found an external plugin to be able to do this with taxonomies]
      2) In this example the localities are separated from the country. brilliant.
      But if I take that example to locations (parent) and then enter ALL CITIES IN A WHOLE COUNTRY the list (property locations (in this case 4:08)) becomes huge.
      Example using taxonomies
      Parent: States: (California)
      States Child:
      Los Ángeles
      San Diego
      San José
      San Francisco
      Long Beach
      Fresno
      Sacramento
      Oakland
      Santa Ana
      +90 more from california AND and all US cities (all in one block on the right side of the screen)

      @@Crocoblock My main problem is that I can't find a way to only show the cities of one state, when this state is selected. I don't know whether to put the states as a CPT or a CPT child, or a Taxonomy.
      As explained here, the list of cities in an entire country would be a huge list from which the user should choose.

    I still don't understand how/where you make that, for instance, the ENG country only shows London as the option. Where on the video you set this up?

    • @Crocoblock
      @Crocoblock  Před 2 lety

      Hi! Firstly, you'll need to create taxonomies (country, city, type) and enable the hierarchical option for each of them bit.ly/3GRyVHZ
      Then, you need to apply taxonomies for the CPT bit.ly/3GLBOu4
      After that, you need to create a select filter, enable the hierarchical option and set the filter hierarchy in the needed order bit.ly/3s9VjbC

      @@Crocoblock What I meant was - elementor theme builder is being used in the video. Why not use themecore along with smart filters? I don't want to use elementor as such, and have some experience with blocksy theme and currently learning bricks. So was wondering if elementor will be needed to run themecore or can it be used over blocksy and bricks?

    • @Crocoblock
      @Crocoblock  Před 2 měsíci

      yes, it can be done not only in Elementor :)
      for example in this guide we mentioned that you'll need Elementor OR Gutenberg editor OR Bricks builder to build the hierarchical filter
