Thanks, Chad! I knew this magic was waiting for me but never took the time to look into it. Now...facing down a client request of rendering 100 still variations of a model I can set it all up and let it run easily within one project file. The "render all takes" is freaking awesome! Kudos and thanks again. Looking forward to the next video on tokens and naming etc.

Thank you for this clearly toturial. I have to work with take, and I get instandly a totally mess. I had view some toturials. In no one of these clips told me the guy, when your work in a take finsihed, switch off the auto take modus. Every time I had to clean all single take. Thank you again and many greetings from Germany!

So glad you showed the manual method because coming from Softimage I had to manually create passes with partitions and overrides. There was no automatic system and I'm glad there wasn't because I'm the kind of person who would forget it's on and just be recording all kind of things I didn't want to. Everyone just assumes they should leave it on AUTO all the time and I think that's a bad move. There's probably no one who works that way who hasn't had to go back and correct some unwanted stuff from takes because they forgot it was on.

Say you wanted to change the material on the chair, not just the colour. Further to that, you have 5 colour ways, for 3 different chair models. Additionally the legs come in 3 finishes, such as black, wood and metal. Plus you want two different camera angles, and the lighting changes with each view. Is this doable? I'm using Modo, where this is fairly easy but looking at C4D and wondering if I can do the same sort of setup. Also in Modo I can matrix these options to create a final set which would be 90 renders all to render out at a click of a button with the file names matching the takes naming. Model1-Colour-Finish-Angle etc. In Modo these are called Render Passes, not to be confused with AOVs.

Hi there Chad, this video has helped me a lot thourght this time, I got a question I can't seem to find an answer though. Is it possible to modify a shape through takes? I'm trying some kind of stop-motion animation making lots of takes and moving things a little (like takes were photo shoots). I'm trying to unfold a paper but when I edit the shape of the paper, it changes in every take.
    thanks!!

Hey Chad! Been trying to use these more and more lately. I've been running into an issue using Tokens in the Render Queue. Since the token technically stays the same, C4D adds the iteration tag "_i2" because there are two items in the queue that share the same output path. Any way to utilize takes in the queue? I haven't found any way to disable that function from C4D.

I really dislike how this has been implemented and I think that's why it's not used or talked about more often. It took me several hours to get the bloody thing working, pausing your video every few seconds to see what I was doing wrong. Turns out it's just incredibly picky about what layers and parameters you use with it, especially if they're using a plugin. Why make a simple version iteration system like this? Seriously Maxon. Good video as always anyway GSG.
