MY CUSTOM BUILT MTB DRIFT TRICYCLE IS RIDICULOUS!

- My custom built MTB drift tricycle is ridiculous! I modify my insane mountain bike Canyon trike into the ultimate drift machine using huge plastic pipes and get as sideways as possible as fast as possible! Would you send it?
The drift tricycle is back for 2023 and this time I modify my Canyon Stitched 1080 trike and fit it with plastic wheels to get it sliding like crazy in perfect urban freeride locations! The base of the bike is the Canyon Stitched 360 dirt jump bike but with the addition of the tricycle back end it became the sickest bike ever! We start the video with some mellow drifts in a car park after fitting the plastic pipes just to see if it would work before drastically ramping up the excitement by going faster and bigger at each new spot. For the finale I decide to fit the paramotor to my back to see if it would actually work to push me along and do endless slides, will it work though?
I hope you enjoy the video!

Lewy attempting to switch on the -blender- fan through the blades was Incredible dedication to epicness
Safely first; “What you doing there; it will chop your arm off”..
Imagine the intro clip they'd have if he did it.
His brother saved him 😂
U just have two tries this way
Just put 72v3kw on this dam trick .. common sense..!
Love how you censored the maxxis logo😂
What kind of paint can be used for stealth mode ?
It took me ages to see what that said haha. Pixilated stuff draws my attention way too much.
Some shots later he didn't even try to censor the maxxis logo. It's clearly readable😂
Why is he censoring it?
@@atirat7388guess it's not owned by Canyon and as a big sponsor they might get salty about it.
03:51 I knew that fun was beeing had. - Sam Pilgrim, 2023
…and with such lyrical simplicity he describes what we all have felt, indeed.
This is by far the most epic mtb channel 🙂
Thanks dude!!
Sam is THE reason for all the other mtb channels! the Messiah!!!
This is the best bike channel, not just MTB!🤩
@@SamPilgrim hey Sam Hope this is you someone tried to scam me using your name check my comment it is a bit further up they just made their account today just letting you know don’t worry mate obviously don’t blame you I know there’s lots of scammers going on at the moment by the way great video those drift trikes are really fun
@@starkillerrock they tried to do it to me aswell
The Canyon Stitch 1080 drift machine looks like some epic fun.... if you could get some peddles welded to the front wheel and shrink the back wheels you would have the ultimate Big Wheel....just a suggestion.... cheers 🇨🇦
Pedals
I love how the propeller just has a bit of netting for protection. They must have thought, "that'll do". 🤔
Only Sam can turn the grayest. most overcast, depressing, dull and boring day and turn it into SUNSHINE!! WOOOOO!!
the best chanel for comedy and mtb 😂
8:29 - "don't pull it from there, you'll chop your arm off" 🤣
"OH my proximities" LOL!! I suspect all these shenanigans are what keeps you in beast mode 24-7!
Yes! Drift trike to the max, love it-- can't wait for the next version! Your idea of putting plastic blocks under the tires reminded me of something my bmx buddy used to do-- call it the Dewey slide-- full speed skid hitting the back brake right as you approach a small square of cardboard laying on the ground, sending you into a super long skid if you find the right spot :) Was always a classic move when we were riding behind shopping centers with good sturdy cardboard for us to use
We used to do the same but with crushed drinks cans.
I loooove doing this. Sweet skids without thrashing your tires
Dude, you’re channel is so uplifting! I was in the high end mountain/freeride/downhill and BMX freestyle industry for many years. You’ve relit that fire in me, I am going to be building a new bike. Keep up the excellent work! I have to say that I am always happier after watching your videos! The Penny Farthing was insane!
Delrin! Great high density plastic that people use in industry for wear surfaces. If you want a single slippy surface, you could just mount a big lump of the stuff to a rim in one spot. To get it around would be harder and I’d advise contracting a fab shop to make that for you. They could just mount a bunch of little blocks then turn them down into one round. It’d cost a fortune, but they’d last a while and work a treat, I think. Else you can maybe do what my dad and I did for my big wheel as a kid. Big round of PVC tubing of the right inner diameter, cut to desired width plus an inch or so either side. Then, cut 2 more rings, take a notch out of each, and kinda compress them around the tyre like a snap ring. Glue in place with PVC cement, and boom. Retained wither side, nice and round, and mine lasted years on a Green Machine getting whaled on.
Kitchen chopping boards, usually PTFE. Same result and cheaper. Could make sleds/ski's for the rear
That wheelie to stop 😜🤘🏻 and Sam's face just says it all 😆 pure excitement and dreams rolled into one 😎🤘🏻
Awesome. Epic. Rad.
A colab with Colin Furze for the drift bike would be awesome
Someone get this man a Grammy! No ones as creative as MR. Pilgrim! I wana see same garage, he probably has some of the coolest and strangest gadgets ever
Just a load of mess haha!
@@SamPilgrim a mess to you, a fantastic smorgasbord of cool stuff and memories for us!
Sam for Mr Q in next Bond.
I love the censoring on the Maxxis tyre. Hopefully Goodyear won't be too upset 🤣
Nice one Sam! I cant wait to see the future! Not sure about another kind of plastic pipe big enough for those wheels, but you could try thicker cuts of the corrugated pipe, they might be less wobbly as they get thicker. Also, you could screw little blocks of wood into the pipe on either side of the tires in multiple places around them to lock the wheels into place.
The censored Maxxis symbol on the front tire is too good
There's something about the Drift Trike videos that make me smile so hard that my face hurts afterwards.
Thank you Lewi and Sam for sharing your talents with the world! I'm not sure how we'll ever repay you.
As always the best mtb content on Youtobe, from Sam Pilgrim, it's very fun to watch a new video in the)
If you are after plastic/nylon tyres for the trike to use for drifting, 'perhaps' use the 'blue' plastic/nylon water pipe that they use for the water main feed to domestic supplies.
You can 'probably' cut the pipe to size and then using an internal coupler with a resin based adhesive to join the pipe ends together.
I'm pretty sure this could work mate, you might want to seek further information on 'how to glue the pipe using an internal insert (length of insert needs to be about 25mm.
Using the 'blue plastic/nylon watermain feed pipe, you should be able to create a tyre that actually fits within the rim of the wheel (more secure).
Sam and Lewi y'all rock! Today was EPIC! Peace! To the SKY!
@SamPilgrim. Try wrapping the wheels with melted plastic.
Collect a lot of plastic bottles and other household trash. Sort it by plastic type (many YT videos available). Melt it in an oven and kneed it into long strips that you drape over the wheels while still hot, have the various strips overlapping. Include the top-end of the spokes for grip.
Love how much Sam enjoys his Adult big wheel..lol
Seems like you could use ptfe dowels or a single dowel, heated and formed to go around the rim, secured from the side with pocket screws like cabinet makers use.
Pvc bends easy too and flies well. Perhaps a long strip of Pvc hot bent around the rim. Wrap it up until the rim bed is filled them glue a wider strip to it and wrap it around a few times for a thick layer
Hi Sam,
You can try finding a CNC specialist or someone with a big enough 3D printer to fit to your specifications.
An alternative is to create a wheel mold for an acrylic pour. The second option might be better BECUZ you can DIY.
This man just achieved the everyone’s childhood dream drift on cycle
this is the best thing ive ever seen, how is Sam so casual about it. amaze!!
Thank you, Sam, for doing and recording everything I would want to do when I was 12. Total epicness!
That slow mo wheelie was the best thing ever
Well Good Sam & Lewy! I love your approach to Life Mates! Cheers! - M
Brings back mad memories. We used to do this back in the day, but used to raid the bin at the lbs for old bmx wheels and put the on minutes the tyre and shred to they felt apart!! Happy days 🤣
I think you need to drift trike a tandem bike for the length it will give you. Triple clamps and a big wheel up front. And find some long twisty downhill roads. Might just be the best day ever. Thanks for the entertainment these drift vids and the cheap bikes are my favorites.
0:10 Ooooofff, I thought that was a Maxxis front tyre there for a second, but then I saw the blocky illusion on there and I realised it really was a Goodyear tyre after all. Silly me...
Simply the best!!
I'd love to see your collaborate with colinfurze. He's built a number of drift trikes along with a ton of other insane things. He's pretty much a mad scientist/wizard when it comes to building fun ridiculously questionable and borderline dangerous things.
I was just about to mention exactly the same. This is such a Colin Furze machine!
Slope style on the bike of springs
That would be epic! So death!
ERES TOTALMENTE EL MEJOR SAM, TU HACES LAS COSAS ABURRIDAS A QUE SEAN GENIALES, TU ERES UN ESTUPENDO CRACK...
no one can ever beat Sam content creation skill😂
His childish laughter warms my heart
The stopped wheelie was my favorite part!
Sam is like the mad Scientist I love it 😁🤣😂
U should use some form of metal to put on the tyres so it would make sick sparks when drifting!
your a true pioneer mate!!! never stop, never slow down.
Seriously that looks the most epic fun ever!!!!
Genius (borderline insanity) levels of epic-ness.
Today is going be sketchy as I don’t know if Sam has a middle name but sam Frankenstein pilgrim has a nice sound to it with these drift bike builds and big respect to Colchester cycles for helping Sam out always support your local bike shop
That was Epic , wish I could give that more thumbs up.
Mcdonalds trays under the back wheels!! It works with a fiesta 😂
New video idea: take a pipe, get in it, and shred dirt jumps inside of it
"It might be a bit too steep and I don't have the front brake BUT I'm gonna send it anyway.." 😂🤣😂🤣
Wish I could 'like' this video more than once!
Such a funny idea, imagine what the people looking out of their windows on that hill must have thought! And the CCTV operators in that car park! 😂
Long live the drift-trike! Would there be any way to make some sort of electric drift trike using the Sur-Ron or any other e-bike? And don't forget that parachute thing you've got! 😉👍
We had a green machine trike as kids that we skidded through the plastic wheels really quickly but my dad found this super thick pvc pipe that fit perfectly over them and glued it to the original wheels the wall thickness was like 20mm so super durable but so skiddy it was barely rideable as kids. Feel like as an adult with a fan it would be perfect!👌🏼
You sure could use a 2" roll of grip tape for the inner diameter of the pipe. Same thing works with 10" PVC and go kart tires. The keys is grip, ironically!
This should be a sport for sure!
i love sams channel because there is no clickbait and when he says todays gonna be epic you know its gonna be
that fan pack is hilarious ... like a long lost devinci invention..i can just imagine someones like theres a guy in the parking lot with a gas powered fan backpack and a tricycle doing donuts and the other person would be like- WHAT?
Is that Dusty in the back at 13:28 ? 🤣🤣 same color outfit as Sam. Thought it was one of his personas 🤣🤟🏼
Blocks of nylon would be like drifting on butter
“The chances of survival are going to be minimal” 😂😂😂😂😂 4:44
This was truly epic!!!
So I have a knee way of doing this, put the back 2 tires on plastic tea trays, pull the break so they don’t move, and there you go, drift plates
Used to do this in my ford escort with maccy D trays
Japanese drifters sometimes use large pvc pipe! It might be a bit more durable but they also have a drip system so the wheels don’t get to hot and crack..
The sound track of Tokyo drift fits this crazy shinanigan...😁😁😁
Excelentes experiencias las que tienes con la bicis saludos bro
2:59 xD perfect
4:03 perfect :D
4:23 i cant no more hahaha
Hey Sam - i just got a mtb hopper 'lil air' today ! Yewww.
Cool and fun like always :) ... Nice Maxxis tire :D
Why is everything Sam does hilarious?! 😂 keep it up 🍻
Love the Maxxis blurring
I've never seen a man with that uneven of hoodie strings 😎 iconic
respect for the crazy stuff that you do
That thing is incredible! And you're actually getting really good
Add snowboards/skis with holes in for the rear wheels to poke through that are adjustable up and down. So you have the option to roll or slide with like a handbrake mechanism.
Go to a welding shop and have them make steel hoops that can be bolted on. Add titanium screws for white sparks. 🤘
Best video in a few weeks. Well done, Sam and Louie!
edit: typo
😈😈😈 ohh my god your an innovator. ... the fan and bike is ridiculous 😈😈😈
'The wheel turned'.....'The wheel done a BAR SPIN,...while I was on it'..! !
Hi Sam I would also recogmend trying a tramp bike challenge
(tramp=trampoline) at a trampoline park. I think that it would be great fun and a sick sesh!
I'm enjoying watching the back wheels going more and more out of true...
imagine checkin ur tesla camera and seein sam pilgrim driftin past ur car
First time I’ve ever seen Sam at a bike shop😂
Pilgrim looking back to see if Scoots Guy is going to engage in the foolery 😂🤙
I feel this episode sums Sam up in one. Awesome stuff
If you get a router and the right bit you could carve a half circle grove in the piping for the tire to sit in and it would probably stay on straight. It would only take a few seconds per each plastic tire sliver and you could probably cut them thinner since the tire is now a skinny road tire.
Ultra cool propeller ride 😎
Love the vid! Soo good
0:26 - 0:33 you can't fool me! I see those maxxis tires and they are turning me on ;)
Omg I apsolutely love your videos man!😂❤
Prop ah drift trike mate!!!! Increds.
the "look backs" are the best
When someone asks who is Sam Pilgram...the 9:20 mark is the perfect answer!
greatest content ,love it thanks
That looks mad fun. I love this channel
Im massively impressed by that first pipe cut!
3:59 haha that's nuts, you should stick a gyro headset on and you'd be able to do infinite bar-spin wheelies. Also, any chance of you and Matt Jones meeting up for a video and go and shred the new indoor skatepark he's just built!
A Colin Furze collaboration would be epic.
Awesome 🤘🤘
"it already feels like it's going to be the best day of my life." Best ever!
Spray the insides of some old tyres with release spray. Fit them to the rim. Cut a hole in the top and fill with deep pour epoxy. Let it cure then cut the tyres off.
Super vidéo 👌 🔥 🔥
This is the kind of stuff we lived for when I worked at a bike shop, customers coming in with crazy ass ideas and helping make it happen.
