  • It is a story that sounds like the plot of a Hollywood thriller. Imagine this a group of robbers break into a farm, what do they discover? Four million dollars in cash, hidden in the furniture but here's the plot twist this money was actually black money that was stashed there so what does the owner of the farm do he recovers some of the loot and instead pays the robbers to keep quiet and here's a even bigger plot twist- the owner of this farm is South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa.

In any rule of law nation, the leader would run for the hills. His party would toss him under the bus and there would be dozens of investigations launched into every aspect of that leader's life. The leader would go through the ringer, and he would be assumed guilty until proven innocent in the public domain. The party would be so fearful of being crushed in the next election that they would voluntarily start turning over member's financial audits to prove they are worthy of remaining in power. I see none of that happening in South Africa.

This will not do any damage for Ramaphosa’s win in the up comming election conference of the ANC. Most people tgink the South African politics is like the one in the west.
In South Africa there are more stakeholders who are to benefit in Ramaphosa’s presidency:
    1. The big business who promited and funded Ramaphosa;s presidency.
    2. The ANC politicians whose livelihood and ambitions may be affected by Ramaphosa’s fall.
Remember that been in governement in the ANC is a free ticket to become a multi-millionaire.
This is why Zuma survived up to almost a full second year term.
Zuma was supported by the likes of Ramaphosa, Nzimande, Mbalula etc, as his remaining in power was beneficial for the accumulation of wealth and their political ambitions.
In short Ramaphosa like Zuma will have his second term as an ANC President and the President of the country, the daggers against Ramaphosa, from his party, may be drawn on his second year of his second term, as the second term dies not give you lavarege as an ANC president because you are on your way out. And I suspect that daggers will be drawn by the least suspected people in Ramaphosa’s folds.
But rest assured, Ramaphosa’s presidency will not be shaken by this scandal, on top of that the South African media(owned by the powerful businessmen and women), is doing a good PR for him, as it did to the scandal of Marikana, BOSASA, and the ANC using government coffers to run its elections.

Well, he certainly was not reporting it to the tax aurhority people or the banks, and apparently it was for long enough for the farm to have sold 4million in produce or meats, and if an audit of sales , they will be able to tell when those monies were legally earned, even if taxes are still owed upon those earnings. :)
And it gives me hope about the other cash and drugs storehouses that the gangs and Cartels and corrupt lawyers and Politicians have been holding and hiding for a small security fee and all that, of course. ;)
That also " of course " is fair game for ICE and other agencies or even possible civilian persons and investigators to sieze from them to hinder their current and future criminal endeavors that could be funded with those ill gotten gains and or fully criminally earned and or extorted monies or commodities and or bearer bonds and similar valuables and exchangeable assets such as Cash, gems, bonds, artworks, precious metals, prepayed credit cards, and or phone cards and other things such as crypto currencies security codes that allow access to pre filled wallets or safety deposit box numbers and locations etc etc.
Basicly, the thought is, with all that hidden cash, and some of the gang and Cartels nessesity to fund their foot soldiers and monies to bribe local officials and police, have large central and or local to the major cities of operations, as well as cash collections houses as well, and that the recession the governments and banks are in, that the move, by every nation, around the entire globe , in recession or not, needs that money back in the banks immediately so it staves off collapse.

Its illegal in South Africa and many many other countries to keep foreign currency in cash. There is a legal requirement to declare foreign currency and there is a time period within which the money has to be converted to local currency. So it is a crime to hide foreign currency in your mattress, only gangsters do that.
