Niger Moves To Nationalize French Uranium Mine - Canada Agency Raise Alarm

  • In a decisive move to assert greater control over its natural resources, Niger has revoked the operating license of French nuclear fuel producer Orano at the Imouraren uranium mine, one of the world's largest. This landmark decision underscores the ruling junta's commitment to nationalizing key assets and ensuring that the country's rich mineral wealth benefits its citizens.
    The Imouraren mine, located in northern Niger, holds an estimated 200,000 tonnes of uranium, a crucial resource for nuclear power and weaponry. By revoking Orano's license, the Nigerien government is paving the way for the nationalization of the mine, marking a significant shift towards greater economic sovereignty and self-reliance.

    Zimbabwe did this and they were sanctioned. We need to support Niger should it be sanctioned. Sanctions are used to scare all 3rd and 2nd world countries from reaching self-determination. Owning our own resources and processing them for the goods market is much more valuable than selling them to the factors/production market. We need to understand that timing in the value chamber is important. Join Brics and avoid sanctions

    • @MyAfricaView
      @MyAfricaView  Před 10 dny +5

      Zimbabwe case was forced seizure. With nationalisation the company gets paid off so there is no risk of sanction. Yes they may be unhappy for being forced by law to give up their shares. But that's just that. They eventually move on

      @@MyAfricaView Zimbabwe was forced seizure of land and property not industries and mines. Industries and mines were squeezed to have a certain percentage given to the State. Nationalisation cannot work within its current state. Mines and industries are valued at future/possible yield and not current value, so how does African countries afford to pay off those companies a fair price? Venezuela did Nationalisation the way you explained and its gold in Britain was stolen by American companies claiming they were owed future compensation by Venezuela. Its just rubbish this thing
