It’s not the most uncommon thing on the tour to speak multiple languages - and Spain has long been a training ground for tennis players so the hispanoblantes probably number quite high. But the way Alex switches between English and Spanish mid sentence without thought is impressive and shows his native fluency in both. Congrats mate! Enhorabuena chaval!
He doesn't really speak like a native, which is strange. He spent his childhood in Spain but the accent is at times a bit awkward, definitely not fluid. Spanish people speak very fast and without pause, he has this Australian English rythm in his Spanish. Quite interesting...
Alex very impressive with the Spanish. I'm surprised Casper didn't speak Spanish this time as he did so last week! Great stuff from them both these last two weeks.
Sort of, but no. He spent his first years in Australia - yes speaking Spanish to his family but English everywhere around. There is a reason he chose to represent Australia and not Spain (he has dual citizenship) as he feels more Australian and native to the land down under
Like most Australian players, they are not really Australian (Kyrgios and Kokkinakis - Greek, Hijikata - Japanese, Alex - half Spanish and half Uruguayan and grew up in Spain, Alexei Popyrin - Russian, O'connell - Irish, Jason Kubler - Filipino and the list goes on...) so the first thing you should think of any upcoming "Autralian" player is that they probably have some other heritage, so don't be surprised if they speak another language. On the flipside, I guess Australia is a very multicultural and diverse country.
@@nonamenoname6921 True, the same with Dokic who once played for Serbia. Many first generation immigrants in Australia wanted to play for their native country but Australia offers lucrative sponsorship. I can understand that since tennis is an expensive sport. Australia also has money to import players especially from Russia such as Gavrilova, Rodionova sisters, etc.
Wow. Awesome to hear him speak in Spanish. Guy has skillz 🎉
He is born from an Uruguayan father and a Spanish mother, what do you think he was speaking? German?😂
skills? he lived longer in Alicante than in Australia is basically Spanish.
De Minaur’s moustache and the sombrero fits that “sombrero man” cliché really well 😂👏
He must have been planning for it
The second time winner Bravo Alex congratutions🏆👏🎉
Due grandi persone, due ottimi giocatori.
Sono molto felice per Alex.

Alex's parents are both from Spanish speaking countries.
Funny enough, it seems Alex doesn't know Casper can speak Spanish? He trains at Rafa Nadal academy and one of his coaches is Spanish.
Well done ! 😁👍🇦🇺 Also speaking Spanish fluently,
He grew up speaking Spanish to his parents at home. It's his native language. English is his second language.

No title because Alex has the tittle 💪
Both seem so nice.......
I get a sense that Alex is kind of shy of the spotlight. I consider it torture that the tournament forces him to wear that hat. LOL😃
Haha 😄
Congratulations to Alex! I guess the only regret is you still have to wear a sombrero and endure mariachi music, but that is Mexico for ya.
Regret? That is beautiful
Deux Minaur!
Pero qué bien habla español ❤🎉
Wow!! The Demon busting out with the Spanish, with that nice Spanish accent a la Alcaraz!!! Very Nice!!! Where did this Aussie dude pick that up??!!
His parents (Spanish speakers) and school (he lived in Spain)
You do realize that BOTH parents are from spanish speaking countries.
No, didn't know that, thought they were Australian, good to know!

Alex/Alejandro is Spanish. He only has Australia citizenship but his parents and his home are in Spain.
yeah lol, the use vosotros/how he rolls his R's when speaking also gives that away. spanish speakers from Spain speak like that @@geschmackj209
@@geschmackj209 Well he was born in Australia.
Father is Uruguayan, and his mother is Spaniard. Dude was lucky enough to grow up bilingual.
