  • I got this Krups FNC1 at a flea market for 100 Kr/£10/$15, without knowing if it worked or not. It needed a good cleaning and descaling and now it works as if it was new! This entry-level model is about 12 years old, but it gets the job done for now. All I need to do is learn more about coffee... :-) In this video I use Lavazza ground coffee and Thiese Jersey milk. Thanks for watching :-)

    Hey, does any one know the filter basket size for this machine? It should be a measurement in millimeter usually, thanks!

      That is a problem with one pressure valve stuck. That coffee machine need periodically descale cycle. Buy good descaler coffee machine solution and run few descale cycles and maybe will help and sort that issue. You could try with vinegar 9 percentage concentration in dilution at 50/50 or 70/30 percentage for descaling, or you can use 500ml of undiluted 5 percentage vinegar from wilko. Run one or two cycles, leavit over night and after 12-15 hours, run cycles until finish all vinegar remain in that tank. For cleaning, run ajother 300ml with distilled water until any vinegar taste in water dissapear. You could add and disolve in first 150 ml of distilled water a quarter teaspoon with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda).and another 200 ml run only clear distilled water. After each cycle of cleaning you will need to empty that tray.

    I can't get mine to pump water. It hasn't been used for quite a while, and I was wondering what a fix could be

      I have the same! Did you manage to find out why? Thanks!

    • @ranchero5595
      @ranchero5595 Před 2 lety

      @@kadinhoneyfield I found the fix. Before you heat up the water, pump it through both the steamer and the main insert where the portafilter goes, then switch it over to the super hot mode. Be careful as the O-ring for the portafilter can melt if you do multiple poor due to the machine getting so hot.
      This machine is okay. Mine is old and it doesn't have enough pump pressure to create a crema. I just got a new machine off Amazon today because I want to improve my espresso game so we will see where it goes. Personally, I think there are better options than the FNC1, but it'll do if you just want an espresso.
      Advice I can give you regarding the machine is that the grind matters a lot. The more ground the beans the more acidic it may taste, so finding a good balance is key to not destroying your mouth with acid and getting a good, bold flavor, but even then I can't really get a good extraction with a crema and good flavor.

    Do you know how to clean the inside of this machine as the water won't run through mine :(

    • @thomasrasmussen1751
      @thomasrasmussen1751  Před 7 lety

      Hi Zoe. I use citric acid -about 1/10 to 9/10 water. Pour the mixture into the tank, turn on the machine and "pretend" to make a cup of coffee. When the first cup is filled, I turn the machine off and wait for about an hour so that the mixture can work inside the machine. Repeat the process. Don't forget to clean not only the portafilter, but also the filter that sits above it. It can easily be removed with a screwdriver. PLEASE: Make sure to make several cups of "fake coffee" using ONLY water afterwards in order to rinse the machine properly! Please let me know if it works for you :-)

      YW :-) I'm sure you'll like the machine. Just make sure the amber (bottom) light is off before you start frothing milk -it takes a little while, but otherwise steam teperature might not be sufficient :-) Have fun :-)
