Customer James here, you forgot a very common cause of mask leak for nasal pillows/masks, mouth leak. I would be very happy if someone would design a headgear for Resmed P10 with an integrated chin strap that is very secure.

Great idea James. Years ago my sister in law used a mask(can't remember style or mfg of this mask but it had a built in chin strap and she loved it. Hope someone who has an in with a manufacturer sees this and considers this design.

@@jalundblad This is working for me….for the past week I have been tapering my mouth with cloth tape. This procedure keeps your lips closed and reduces mask shift. I’m using a full f20 mask. I’m also looking for a good device to keep my mouth closed.

As far as I know ,waking up with air leak at18.4 pressure on Cpap is a good thing, as that would have been a gasping choking event! I just turn the machine off and back on! This happens a few times a night very night!

High pressure can be a cause of waking up and usually will result in some air leaks from the mask. However, the goal is to be able to sleep right through the night with your CPAP. If you have a high leak, pressures will increase if you are on a wide auto range to compensate for loss of pressure. Ask your provider to review your compliance for your 95th percentile pressure and use that as your setting marker.

If I have to adjust the straps throughout the night (as mentioned at 5:37), how can I sleep through the night? I’m waking several times to reset the mask due to leaks.

You only need to adjust your mask straps if changing your sleeping position caused your mask to move and break the seal. If the leak is big, you'll definitely hear it. Unless you're a very heavy sleeper, chances are it'll wake you up, prompting you to make some mask adjustments.

I've been struggling with my F&P Vitera and your comments were enlightening. I tried it looser at first, but air flapped against my cheek and woke me up several times a night. So I tightened it. Now I get red marks on my nose that are getting worse over time. I'll try what you suggest and hope for a "Goldilocks" solution. THANKS!

CPAP masks can be hard to get used! Have you tried something a little more minimalistic like the BLEEP Eclipse no-headgear CPAP mask? Aside from two sticky pads around your nostrils, there's nothing else on your face.
