- As Americans become increasingly aware of the likelihood that Republicans will try to subvert a potential 2024 election loss by Donald Trump with a plan to hijack the election administration apparatus and prevent (or just make a mess of) the election certification process, more people are wondering how to stop such a scheme from happening. Totally agree with you! Unfortunately getting rid of the EC is a pretty tricky thing to do.
Because getting rid of the EC requires a constitutional amendment (which won’t happen), the best move is at the state level. If enough states mandate that all of their electors go to the winner of the national popular vote, that would effectively sidestep the EC. Robert Reich is a fan of this option.
There is a collection of states called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact that have been trying to get enough other states on board to eliminate the electoral college for years now. They just haven't been able to get the majority of states that they need to agree with them so they can actually do it.

Why isn’t there a slew of Democratic lawsuits challenging these tactics?
Democracy Docket is all over it. They're an organization that is filing lawsuits across the country to challenge, stop, thwart, not just these actions but also to redraw districting maps so they're more fair.
Case in one of many points..... Louisiana, all these talking heads and their maps show Louisiana as a foregone conclusion going red. Except DD's organization sued to redraw the maps and it went round and round in court awhile with Republicans still trying to keep it in their favor, and then the courts took it over and made it fair, and opened up a huge new predominantly black population that was being suppressed by Reps. Not anymore.
As of March's voter registration data, there are over 130k more Democrat voter registrations than Republicans...and like 800k Independents and the Indies in Louisiana lean to the left. It's trending blue on voter registrations alone...because if they don't register, they aint voting so who they want doesn't matter in any polling.

This is happening in Shasta County, California! We have three members of our Board of Supervisors that are extremists and they overrule the two "normal" members nominees. It's downright scary. I hope we are able to stop them.
Two days to hand count a special election. Two to three for the primary. Upwards of 15 - 20 items on the November ballot. Could be over a week if hand counted. By machine, a few hours.
