Yes the Pixies are old now but this still gave me goosebumps. I first saw them 25 years ago and then they were awesome. I guess with all live concerts you just had to be there.
I don't have a problem with the bass playing, but those backing vocals make me want to cry :'(

I wouldn’t! Any song I would write I’d be happy to perform anytime I would be on stage. It’s a damn honor performing in front of people not to mention thousands attending your show to hear these songs. It should be a blast no matter how long you sing a song for.
@@lottostuuud I have heard interviews of some singers who say they get really tired of being singing the same songs over a over again but sometimes they want to have the public happy and that's sad because they ain't feel connected with those songs anymore and it is just sort of a mechanical act

The first time I heard this song, I was walking on the street with friends in the middle of the night, and this song came to me from a bar which was on a second floor, instantly I felt very attracted to that sound, it was unique, different, so that bar, was on another planet and the people there were actually no people. But I was with friends going somewhere else and we kept moving, but only my body I must say. If I wondered then "where is my mind", it was in that bar.

Such a great combination of soft and hard. The acoustic guitar, the falsetto wails, then the electrifying distorted hook and chorus. It’s all a metaphor for our adult lives we struggle with as every day people.

I don't know why people are mocking this performance but for me this sounded absolutely perfect and just retells the story of the song in the eyes of older.

People are mocking this performance because look up any other live performance of this song...and it's better. This is literally the worst Pixies version of this song on CZcams. It's just really surprising considering the venue too.
douglasadams It's a combination of things. The mix is pretty awful, which isn't their fault, but Francis' vocals have been more on point, and the "ooh"s dont sound right without Kim. Just my two cents.
Not a bad performance, but definitely not their best.

I love the Pixies. I even named my cat after them. I know there's no Kim Deal but this woman is trying her best. Black Francis does NOT look healthy. When you are healthy and feeling good you play better. He needs to get healthy and lose some weight too. It also appears they had a GREAT CROWD that was even helping them out at the end. Thats so cool. I believe they can recover from this. )

Regardless of the performance being better or worse than others, this song is simply a masterpiece, ageless, and always moving. BTW, Kim was the goddess but love Paz!

I saw Pixies several days ago before Glastonbury, at INmusic festival in Croatia, and trust me they were amazing, these recordings are boring. To be honest, they are very bored when performing this song, but all other masterpieces live are just WOW, you must see that!

I also saw Pixies before Glastonbury as Jasterrrr, in Warsaw. They were really amazing. I don't think that they are getting too old for playing, it's just that performence in my opinion.

Elton John does the same for example when he did "your song" he played it and sang it at a different pace it was still great but I prefer the original but if they can pull it off good for them if not then oh well.

The best bands, the ones that influence a generation of musicians, are the ones where if some member drops, normally the band particular sound finishes. The Pixies RIP when Kim left. (In my opinion,. This song takes me back to high school. Pixies was one of those bands you only listened to if you were in a certain group. Everyone else just kind of listened to the pop chart music and the auto tuned rap. Of course my friends and I being skaters we loved Pixies and sonic youth. All of us smokers at the time hanging out in the smoking section. Glad we all mostly quit now though. Especially as one of my friends is a singer/music producer now. He's just released a cover of "All Along the watchtower" and I swear it sounds to me as if Pixies covered it themselves. It's a strange but cool take on it. Try searching Lonely Gimmick - All Along the Watchtower, I think he's seriously talented and deserves more attention. He does all the music himself recording to his laptop.

I dunno, both the replacements currently in use are ok. Paz Lenchantin and Simon Archer. Better then Kim Shattuck, that was kinda like The Pixies trying to recapture a youth that they really can never get back kinda thing imo. She was way to "punk rock" for them as they are today.
Watched the video, for a bunch of "old guys" they really have maintained the sound over the years :-)

This music..something so addictive..it's a feeling the way it makes you feel..amd thein c luence it had over you. I used to listen to this back In the days as a teenager..I was SO LOst....so caught up in all this music..it only left me empty. That's what I see here. Yes the music sounds good but it's about being high I guess. I never seen the music video when young. I see a bunch of people probably on a road to he'll while listening to this all the way down...like sirens of mythology..The music is so captivating..it pulls you in and draws your mind and ♥. But you don't realize what the end is cause the music has you hooked. Maybe you don't understand but maybe if your a Christian now and you weren't then you understand what I'm saying. But then y are we here? Song is stuck in my head..husband used it as background music for a CZcams video but didn't know what it was. Then it gets stuck in my head. Does anyone understand me? Spiritually speaking. How many people are on drugs there and what kind of dark spirits are hovering over the crowd and going through the people? Repent. And trust Jesus Christ.
