- My compression test gauge: amzn.to/41lmYW9
A few weeks ago I purchased a Mityvac compression tester and made a video on it where I tested multiple chainsaws to see how it held up to the old "drop test" method. I was surprised by the results and wanted to make sure I didn't have a didn't get a bad test gauge so I borrowed a USA made Matco to do a side by side comparison. Enjoy!
The original video I made can be seen here:

It's probably the internal volume of the adaptor assembly.
Thank you for a great video! I have a similar compression test kit but it has the Craftsman brand on it. I have compared testers myself before and found they all max out at the same reading doing 4-8 pulls.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching! Yeah I'm really glad I did this for peace of mind. I have one more way I found to check the gauge as well and I'll post a short video on that at some point in the future in case people don't have access to another high end one like this. I got lucky lol.
Thank you for the real life test! Was literally split between the $200+ Lang Tools kit (same as Matco) and the Mityvac, your video helped me save some money!
You’re welcome! Glad it helped you save a few bucks.
Don’t go cheap and get a Harbor Freight. Difference of 60 psi between harbor freight and one I rented from Auto Zone. I will be getting a new one soon.
thanks for sharing the info. Is there a compression test values table? I have an old scooter with a 200cc engine with no information was found on how much should read the compression
That I do not know about but perhaps googling your Model or asking the manufacturer for specs would be the best bet.
What size are all the adapters? Thanks
Id of hose is larger on the mityvac.
Ok thanks for commenting
I dont think there made in usa anymore. But i might be wrong
Did you make sure the Schrader valve is properly inserted and working in the mighty vac hose? That could explain your issue.
I didn’t but I’ll check it out for sure. It was brand new but that only means so much.
How would you test that? The dial isn't going down, which means the valve is holding air.
Amazon link does not work for me.
It could be that you aren’t in the USA but I’m not sure
I pull the choke, and pull until it won't go up anymore.
Yeah that seems to be the way to do it! Thanks for the input!
Rodney is clutch
Don't but lol buy auto correct strikes again
