I broke up with my boyfriend when I was 15 and he was 18 because he joined the Marines and I didn’t want to do a long distance relationship while I was that young. Three years later I was 18 and we started dating again. I could tell he never really understood why I broke up with him. His sister was 15 at the time so I said “How would you feel if a marine was dating your sister?” It all clicked for him 😂 We’ve been happily married for ten years now. EDIT: A lot of people are commenting about the age gap and I agree it is a little weird at that age. We weren’t technically dating because my parents wouldn’t let me date until I was 16 but we were into each other. We really just talked and hung out. Also we grew up together if that makes a difference. Neither of those things felt relevant to the story so I didn’t initially share them.

There is the Romeo and Juliette law, which basically says that a couple can date if one is already of age and the other is underage, but they had to have been dating before the older one became of age - I think was a time limit like they had to be dating x amount of months and not just the day before, and the age difference can't be more than 4 years. Or something like that

A month goes by (we haven’t done anything not even kiss) I get a message from his number but it’s not him. It’s his MOTHER telling me he’s 17.
