    One thing about all the linocuts I've seen demonstrated here on youtube: I don't see anyone working to create an actual work of fine art. By that I mean a really creative work by an artist well aware of art history and the more important printmakers and art leading up to the present.

    Really like the attention to detail of the sound. Shows the whole process from digital to analogue. Excellent.

    Such cool work Emil. I have been geeking out watching you and Emils Salmins. One thing I am trying to get better at is fine detail, with a knife. I also just ordered a 1.5 mm gouge. Question, is this how you make a living?

    • @emilunderbjerg
      @emilunderbjerg  Před rokem

      haha, yes two emils making linocut prints! i love his videos as well, very aesthetic! i have a part time job to pay rent and bills, the rest of the time i make art and videos, which i earn about as much from as from the part time job

    i loved the video! what did you use to transfer the sketch to the lino when you were tracing? i've been looking for a better way to transfer my own sketches

    • @meltdowngrfx969
      @meltdowngrfx969 Před 4 lety +1

      madi speyer looks like he transferred the drawing by tracing it with a graphite sheet. I transfer mine using an inkjet print and gel medium.

    • @pashtet444
      @pashtet444 Před 4 lety

      @@meltdowngrfx969 can you, please, explain inkjet & gel method? Thanks!

    • @meltdowngrfx969
      @meltdowngrfx969 Před 4 lety +1

      Павел Постнов sand your piece of linoleum and brush on a thick coat of gel medium. Place your inkjet print face down on the Lino and spread out any bubbles. Place something heavy on it to keep it flat for 24 hours. When completely dry, spray some water on the back of your print and gently wipe away all paper. A reverse image will be transferred to the Lino ready for cutting. Careful not to rub too hard or your image will wipe away.

      @emilunderbjerg  Před 4 lety

      sorry for the late reply! i've used tracing paper for this print, but i have a new video showing how i use a print-out and gel medium, like meltdown grfx also mentioned, it's on my channel :)

    Fantastic work, Emil! Why do you use a black marker on the block?

    • @emilunderbjerg
      @emilunderbjerg  Před 2 lety

      i use the marker to see how the cuts look, they stand out more with the black surface

  • @akuma410
    @akuma410 Před 2 lety +1

    Stunning! I’m new to linocut still. What size is the first Pfeil tool you’re using here (for the teeth)? Is there a particular reason you are using u-shapes instead of v’s? :O

    • @emilunderbjerg
      @emilunderbjerg  Před 2 lety +1

      thank you! the tool i use in the beginning is a pfeil small V shape L11/3 -- i know i've written in the description that i only use V tools, but it's technically a V shaped one. i use U shaped tools because of how the "stroke" looks -- the beginning and end of a cut looks becomes more round with a U shaped one. hope it helps!

    I really enjoyed this. Do you happen to have shorter versions? I think, in addition to having another video, you might draw more eyes with a long video and a short on the same topic. Only a friendly suggestion based on my desire for this content with a shorter commitment. (I did play on 2x speed) amazing work by the way. 🥳

    • @emilunderbjerg
      @emilunderbjerg  Před 4 lety

      good suggestion! im still figuring out how i want the videos to be.
      would you like more time lapse footage?

    • @thebusbums2825
      @thebusbums2825 Před 4 lety

      emil underbjerg I cant say one thing over another I guess just a tighter cut. Truly not complaining or anything (you do you) I would like to enjoy your work with a shorter commitment. I don’t like watching half of a video because it effects watch times and skipping to the end seems cheap. Idk great work though. I’m looking into Lino print block making

      i like to be really precise with the lines and shapes, working like this gives me as much control as i want :) i am trying to break away from this method by drawing directly on the linoleum, but i find it more difficult. but im still learning, maybe i'll soon feel comfortable working like that :)
