I bought a Maytag Gemini gas double oven December 2005. I love it and have no regrets. I’m 72 now and sometimes my hip arthritis acts up from bending down for cooking tall tube cakes and baking for the holidays. I use both when making 100+ cookies. I use the upper oven for majority of baking other foods. At one point I was baking so much sweet stuff that: I burnt out the gas element, I had to have the gaskets on both doors replaced, my adult daughter wasted milk down one knob that made the cooktop stop working. I’ll be sad if my gas range has to be replaced. Especially if gas ranges are no longer available.

I have a GE CAfe double oven just like the on in this video, with GAS top and oven and love it. This range is genius because you do not have to turn on an entire oven just to use a portion of an oven.

We just renovated our kitchen and put one of these in (got the induction model) and we love it.
We found the same thing between gas and induction (harder to clean, and doesn’t heat near as fast).
For anyone considering a GE Cafe model induction oven they’re really great.
They are expensive, but they do come on sale. We got ours 15% off, so was $3565 instead of the listed $4100.

@@w.miller7282 I’ve owned both and for me it’s not even a contest. The induction is LEAGUES better. I was excited to finally own and use a gas cooking surface when we purchased our last house two years ago. The reality was that the temperature range and simmering was awful, the cleaning was massively awful, the amount of time it took to preheat cookware and boil even small amounts of water was awful. Heat travels up the sides of the pan so the “stay cool” handles were always hot to the touch and cast iron handle covers would burn. No amount of scrubbing would EVER make it look clean. I ended up replaced it with an induction range within a year and don’t regret it. I might still consider owning a BlueStar Range-Top at some point though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah and then when an induction oven breaks and needs repairs, prepare to open your wallet because repair costs on induction ranges are phenomenal. If GE or any other brand were to come out with an induction double oven range that passed the test of time, and were tried and true I would buy one. I have had to deal with GE getting warranty service on one of their dryers, and they are a nightmare to deal with! My dryer was in warranty, but it took them 3 months to fix it. If an induction range breaks within the warranty period, then ok fine you don't have to pay for it. But it it breaks AFTER the warranty period ends you are screwed. I would love an induction range, but not until one of the manufacturers had a reliable one that is tried and true.

UPDATE Nov 29, 2023: Regarding the rear oven vent issue I described below in the last paragraph. I finally bought a piece of stainless steel and cut a piece 1 inch x 12-5/8” wide and pre drilled and attached with screws covering the 3 right rear vent openings facing forward leaving the vent openings behind them facing upwards open. Now I have NO ISSUE with the exhaust blowing across the right side burners and they now only blow upwards towards. I am very surprised I cannot find other people online mentioning this issue.
First one delivered had about 15 stripped screws and one oven door hinge not working quite right. Almost all of the screws along the inner panel of one of my oven doors were stripped so the inner panel/glass would move and almost completely separate from the outer door panel. A bunch of screws on the back panels were also stripped and one of the electrical wires that was supposed to be behind the small rear panel was protruding between two sheet metal panels and the wire insulated was cut through to the wire as a result of the sharp panel edges. Also the GE repair person mentioned the whole side panel of the range needed to be removed to replace the hinge. So due to the issues I mentioned here and a few other issues, they sent me a new one. The new one only had about a handful of stripped screws, all on back panels which are not as important. Both ranges sent to me had the same issues as listed in the next two paragraphs.
I have the GE Cafe CC2S950 gas range. From new(2020 or 2021), the front right burner on simmer up to number 2 setting where flame is still low would cause the sensor to think the flame is out and would activate all spark ignitions of all burners 1-2 times every minute. Cannot use it on simmer. Had tech out 3-4 times for this. They tried to add a ground cable to another burner (front left burner) and it seems to have helped.
ALSO a very bad design flaw is that the exhaust vent for the oven, which operates when the oven is on and for several minutes after the oven is off, located at the rear right blows horizontally across the right two burners. If you are using those burners when the exhaust is operating, the blowing air will blow out the burners unless on medium to high flame. But then the flame is not uniform and dancing all over the place due to the exhaust air flow. To some extent, it also affects the flame on the middle burners. When the rear right oven exhaust is operating, I must use something thin and upright and police it at the rear of the right cast iron grate to block the airflow if using the burners on the right. The the exhaust will blow upwards. I use my stainless steel stove top round burner covers. No fix from GE.
This is my first double oven and I love the double oven. Shortly after buying this gas model (I have always purchased gas ranges on the past 35 years), I learned of the hazards (the 3 different chemicals released that are hazardous to us) of the gas fired appliances, especially appliances where you will like be close to while operating such as ranges. Had I known this earlier, I would have purchased electric.

The concept of double oven freestanding ranges dates back several decades. My grandparents had a 40 inch double oven electric range, turquoise blue, dating from 1967 when they brought that house , and remained in good working order as of August 2022 when we sold the estate after grandma passed away that April. Together they raised 7 kids and life would have been far more stressful than it already was, without a double oven. Since young couples today are having fewer children on average, than say during the 1950s - 1970s, that's likely the reason double oven ranges are not as commonplace as they once were. Nonetheless they are convenient for those who love to bake, and almost a must for larger than average households.
