Mary, you look so relaxed, happy, and glowing in this video. Please share the full duet that you and your friend Shawn (I hope it's the correct spelling) started at the end of the video. Like you, she has a great sounding speaking and singing voice.
Probably âSianâ
I bought this guitar online sight unseen based on your reaction to it in the original video. Best thing I ever did. Love it and although I have many good guitars at home it is the only guitar I travel with. Thank you for that. Itâs nice to see you still have it. I spend nearly half my time travelling Australia as a grey nomad and absolutely love mine.
Go man go!
My band played at an outdoor festival called "Up the Country fest" just north of Dallas, and just a year or so after Woodstock. Yeah, spoiler alert to my age, but one of my favorite musical memories. A few thousand people dancing, having fun and acting a little crazy in the middle of a blazing Texas summer.
There was also a Woodstock â99 hehe.. where Metallica had one of their worst shows ever etc.. but Iâm guessing you mean the CLASSIC Woodstock. Anyway, that sounded fun!
Really like the sound of that guitar
Graphite/carbon composite and aluminum are my favorite "tonewoods".
I don't know about anyone else's favorite Mary song, but mine is still "Meet Me In Croatia."
Mary, youâre an inspiration and an absolute belter of a singer and guitarist. Iâm glad I found your channel as you never fail to impress me and a great many other people in your openness and honesty in all that you write, sing and play in these videos. Please donât ever stop as the world needs people like you to help show the way out of this waking nightmare that is the pandemic. Thank you. â€ïžđžđ€đ»
Amen!
Mary Belter
There was something different in your smile in this video -- or was it just me? It's like the freedom of the festival and spending time with your friends lifted you to another level. It was wonderful to see. Thanks for taking us along, Mary.
Oh, now thatâs a teaser! We only get 6 seconds of the duet? Or is that coming in another video? Your voice still amazes.
I bought one of these a few years after seeing your original video. It's my second guitar and I'm still feeling it out, but after having the saddle and nut adjusted, it plays much easier. Super happy with it. Fits in an overhead on a plane. Love it.
After seeing your original video, my husband bought me one of these. (Yay, lucky me).
Delighted to see you still enjoy playing yours.
Forget about Open Mic, I'm betting there are some people kicking themselves for not pulling you up on stage. Their loss.
Ohhh, that duet teaser at the end ... that was evil. Would love to hear the full version of it.
Bought the LAVA ME 2 at your recommendation, and Iâve been loving it! Iâd not played for real in years, but since it arrived (just in time for my birthday this year), Iâve played at least 1ce a week because I love holding and using the guitar and it sounds better in my hands than any other string instrument Iâve played. Thank you thank you!
A lovely visit. Everyone likes a good chorus and I do too. But Iâm the kind of person who silently shouts out Bridge! when the bridge comes up. In a funny way the bridge is like a Greek chorus stepping back and commenting on the main action. Greek Chorus. See that⊠Now that is an inspiration for a song.
Iâm just waiting for the Greek chorus⊠To tell us how weâre doing now⊠I turned and heard a Greek chorus, will they build us up or tear us down?
Living vicariously through you and your friends. What a lovely adventure.
Thank you for this very inspiring video. It feels good to see normal life again.
Everything about this video is very relaxing, the narration, the images, the music, your voice, the songs, everything.
I've been following you for a while now, off the bat I love your tone, especially acousticly. This vlog resonates way more than others, how you described writing, and how it can be scary when sharing those intimate personal experiences would be received by others. I have total respect for that. A thousand times I've walked home drunk and came up with pieces of golden poetry that I've instantly forgotten, never to be seen again. So recently if I get a hook I manifest it, and usually I can't find a pen, or paper so I type it on facebook. For me it's better out than in. I don't do it for "likes" the outpouring is healthy for me.
I checked out the tunes you referenced in this vlog, and I love them, your tone your voice, and thoroughly refreshingly original songwriting. I wish you all the success you deserve đ
Happy Birthday!
Ah yes... The guitar that made you marry Value Select's dad.
Good to see you relaxed and happy. I love the camper van. It's great to see someone maintaining a British mark, even if it was owned by General Motors when it was born in 1984. I've been slowly losing my hearing in my 70s, but I thought you said the festival was in Penda. As in the king of Mercia in the early 600s? I loved touring the pre-millennial remains in England and reading about the history. In any case, this is a great video and added to a relaxing weekend for me.
What a beautiful vibe this video has. I'd go to a festival like this in a heartbeat. Reminds me a little bit of late 80s Rainbow Gathering, though smaller still and even more chill (and less LSD.) Great performing and editing to capture this experience. Thank you!
Alt title: What happened to that guy's dad that you married
More collabs with Shawn please. You two are a riot together. đ đ Also love these 'on location' videos. Looks like a fun festival.
5 million hits! The bruising must me horrendous⊠wait what?!
A very british joke. That had me laughing.
@@starrk7158 ahh a man of culture I see đâđœ
đđ
Being Australian I love the british humour. Bosh.
This guitar is amazing! Thanks to your previous video, because it made me buy one too and enjoy it a lot!
I have my me2 about 6 months now. I restrung it to .010-46 and it worked, lost a bit volume what was a benefit in recording. Now I restrung to .09-46 and it works even without thrust rot. Sounds a bit thin now so I will go to slinky .105 ers in a few weeks. The guitaris awesome. It never disapoints and is a fun to play even when a bit narrow on the nut.
Loved that guitar
You can see Paul Davids on the left at 12:10 lol
(I know itâs not him, but kinda looks like)
This video has a 2nd part, right? Because that duet sounds great... I Wana hear more!
It's good to see you happy and enjoying your B-day.
And thank for sharing you experience and knowledge, that help to my learning in the guitar world.
Happy belated birthday đđ
Yeah I was loving the beginning of that Duet as well, it's a crime that they cut it off like that. Maybe she'll do a follow up video on that.
Yeah if there had been an open mic You would have been the Main attraction at the Festival ! Loved the van too. As always such beautiful music from you! Thank you Mary!
Lovely to see you blossoming again in an environment that is perfect for you (apart from there being no open mic), and we get to see you as a happy hippy chick too. You'll be competing with Helen for the broadest smile on CZcams at this rate!
Ah the Bedford CF - that brings back memories. I drove one for a year back in '77 in my previous life as a sound engineer. Still can't believe how much gear we managed to cram into it. Did some great gigs with it. Hope you can get back to gigging soon.
Happy birthday, Mary!
Glad you had a good weekend đ
Guitar sounds great!
You're looking excellent, Mary. I bought a LAVA ME2 a bit more than a year ago. Loved the size and (very) light weight, liked the onboard effects, didn't like the company or its attitude, nor the inability to make almost any kind of adjustment to the instrument if something was a little bit out of whack. I sold it a few months ago without regret, and won't buy another.
Thanks for your report. You confirm the bad feeling that I have about that guitar. It's very much overpriced and it's not REAL carbon fiber, but just a die-cast of a mixture of particles of carbon fiber and epoxy resin. I will wait for a 99.99 $ Chinese clone that surely will show up in the near future. đ
Mary, you exude joy when you play. It's quite unique. It makes me happy. Thank you.
Happy Birthday Mary, my birthday was a week ago. Gotta love us Cancerians :) Thanks for bringing us along to your outing, I would love to experience one of those soon, the past year and a half locked down have made my need to socialize a priority.
One of my earliest memories is of riding in my uncleâs Bedford while on vacation in Scotland. It was 1963 and I was three years old. After we flew back home I pestered my folks for weeks about getting one. âșïž
Love to see you are getting out and about. We get to see that pretty smile again.
Happy birthday, Mary. Glad to see things are more normal. Just went to my first weekend concert myself this past week.
đ¶"Someone better better come along"đ¶ still pops into my mind from time to time! đ
Loved the song Mary.... you are just ridiculously lovely!
You look sun-kissed and joyful. Beautiful! Happy Summer! (The guitar is great too!)
Happy Belated Birthday Sweet đđđ„łđđđđ
Lovely video! The little festival looked so fun. Liked the song too. Thanks Mary.
After years of watching your content, during this vid I realized that you have an amazing eye for a screened shot. Well done.
Hi MoE- You really cheered me up with your sweet little song Today so thank you love!đâ€ïžâïžđș I have finally been able to walk around to start using my legs again but for the past week Iâve been stuck inside because of the heat. When itâs really hot the air quality usually makes it hard for me to breath.Ive been bummed out because of it. MTM- Mary the Marvelous made me think of brighter days to come! Thanks again Sweetheart! I love you too!đșâ€ïžâïžđđ„°đ€đđŠ
Belated Happy Birthday! Carbon Fibre instruments are fantastic for playing outside in weather that changes, or in humid conditions. Too bad they didn't know you were attending the festival ... it would be great to perform!
Just have to comment Mary. Happy Belated Birthday!
That guitar is gorgeous and definitely on my Want List. Maybe one day!
Yet another beautiful song and a belated Happy Birthday! đđđđ
Wow, you look really happy, relaxed and full of smiles in this vid. More than normal anyway. A few of your vids you have seemed a bit tired and stressed, but not this one. Oh, and Happy Birthday!
"So far to go" has the right pieces.... I'm hearing it in a different way though, maybe I'm crazy. LOL
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Mary, happy birthday to you:) Huzzah!!!
Thanks, Mary. Great place and advice as always.
Mary,
Absolutely adore you! Glad you are getting out. Happy birthday beautiful brit and always enjoy your angelic voice. We are waiting for you in the states when life opens back up. Love electric guitars
Hi Mary! EstĂĄs a punto de llegar a medio millĂłn de subscriptores!!!! Congrats!
Happy Birthday, Mary! Keep lighting up the world!
I bought one of those guitars because I saw them in your video. (and because they're awesome). :)
Has it been 2 years already since your carbon guitar video? - dang. Happy birthday!
Music festival caravan Mary has such a great vibe, Iâm totally digging the wind-swept hair =)
Happy birthday Mary, hope the next one is awesome for you!
I can definitely tell that the resumption of normality is having a positive effect. I think you smiled more in this video than the last four or five videos put together. Good to see that things are looking up!
Happy birthday love your channel.
Happy belated birthday! Looks like you had proper fun!
My god I wish I could experience freedom like that again . Reminds me of my deadhead Daze
One of the most pleasant speaking voices on CZcams đđ»
I'm a singer and learning guitar, I'm struggling a lot :(( the thing is we never have time to practice because need to work
Happy belated birthday Love! You are amazing. Thanks for the great content and fantastic songs!â€â€â€
You should come to the Priddy folk festival next year. Priddy is just outside Wells in Somerset, just in case you didnât know đ
Happy Birthday đđđđđ ! We all need one of those guitars!!
Omg , that duet was amazing
The last few seconds were the best. Sweet harmony
Still got mine, still love it, use it all the time - useful, practical, and inspiring, oh and cheap!
1984? I was already into my 2nd career! I definitely did exist! Regards from an old codger.
Hey Mary!!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!! Keep Rockin!!!!! You're The Best!!!!!
Lovely to tag along to the festival with you and the carbon (dated) ...... one, two, three, four :)
Looks like a fine way to enjoy a birthday. Keep having fun and everything will flow in a creative way.
That festival looks way to much like Mid Sommar⊠be careful!!! đ
Wow, there's something about Mary!!
Nice video. Everyone looks so chilled and happy & content.
well Happy belated Birthday Mary
Happy Birthday!!! Love your friends!
4:56... We've all been through that mystical gaze hahaha
You look great by the way!
Belated happy birthday, Mary! Cheers!
Just, Happy Birthday!!
I hope you'll be releasing that duet from the end of the video.
it looks lovely! missing that kind of stuff since what seems to be 5 years...
I have that guitar (Lava Me 2) since early 2020 and the only problem I have had with it is that button on the top and trying to fit a strap to it. I play it here (Santa Fe, NM) because it gets very low humidity here in the winter and my Martin spends most of the time in its Musik Tent (ensures more or less constant humidity). Do you have a problem fitting a strap to the Lava Me 2?
Send that guitar over here to me in FL where I can put it to use in this ungodly humidity that I'm forced to gig in several times a week!
I have that guitar because I live in Santa Fe, NM where the humidity goes the other way in the winter. The Martin I bought the day after Christmas 2019 "fretted out" by New Years.
@@tonybegg7324 Where are you playing it outside in the winter? Because I used to live in Alaska where itâs really cold and very dry. I just had to make sure I set it up for low humidity and have a humidifier in the houseâŠ
@@seanmormelo01 Sorry, I was probably not clear. In Santa Fe, NM the humidity is generally low (outside of summer thunderstorms) because we are at 7000 feet in a desert climate (< 10 inches per year precipitation). Indoors we need heat in the winter and that reduces the humidity indoors even further. Wood guitars like the Martin can warp and even keeping them in a hard case and having a between strings humidifier doesn't really cut it. The Lava Me 2 however has no problems at all. I keep the Martin in a "Musik Tent" to keep the humidity around 50.
@@tonybegg7324 Yeah thatâs what I mean. It was a similar situation to me when I lived in Alaska I just kept the guitar humidified and I had to do adjustments on the neck a couple times a year with the warmer and colder temperature changes. As long as you keep it humidified itâll be fine. I had a humongous humidifier going in my house all your long because of the dryness in Alaska.
"The van is 40 next year"
"She's from 1984"
I'm afraid the math doesn't check out there
It's pretty likely that the van existed before the current owner bought it!
@@garanceadrosehn9691 but she didn't say that her family bought the van in 1984, she just said it's from that year and didn't further explain...the way she put it, it sounds like she's contradicting herself
@@emalaw1329 - Ah, indeed.
I thought she said she was 14 , so your math is much closer than what I thought she said
I'm just finding the line at 2:42 a little difficult to hear... being from 1974, myself. :-o
Happy birthday, though, Mary. Glad you got to dance and be close with people -- and, that it was done at least relatively safely, with testing and such (and hopefully vaccinations, as well?)... Hopefully everyone's tests were accurate, and no Covid spread happened!
Good stuff Mary!! I was thoroughly entertained!!
đđđŒđđŒ
Lovely video and vibe: happy belated birthday Mary!
I got a red one after your first video. I love that thing!
Can carbon fiber guitar play in the rain?
I hope itâs can!
I existed in 1984 - I was 16. It was the year I left school. đŽ
Loved the 'work in progress'.
You two sound so good together I would love to hear more of you 2 singing
I bought this guitar a month ago, because of your first video, and I haven't played a different guitar since.
Looks similar to Treehouse Festival, which is on this weekend (July 30 - August 1st) at Uffington by the White Horse. You should try it.
Iâm feeling more and more like I want one of these Lava guitars⊠or maybe their ukulele model. Wish I could justify the outlay, though đŹ
Lol, thanks for making me feel old Mary! 1984 before either of you existed, lol.đđ€Ł
cheeky smile, she is lovely!!! so beautiful girl and plays awesomely awesome hahah
