Ukrainian here. As I lived there I didnt see opportunities for my future if I stay there, and because of that I decided to immigrate in one other country, and exactly I left Ukraine. And when I hear that African students seek opportunities in Ukraine I'm just asking myself how they want to make smth in Ukraine, when even a Ukrainian doesn't have opportunities there?
Lack of opportunity makes it even worse...because then those who choose to do nothing, look to everyone else to blame. Especially those that do not look like them.
Honestly, I am American with an Ethnic background of Latino and Asian. I have been traveling around Europe. I actually experience racism throughout Eastern Europe, such as Poland and Romania. I am currently in Bulgaria, and well, so far, Bulgarians are a lot more friendlier. Yeah, but be careful around Poland and Romania. Not only people of African descent are targeted, basically non-whites. I almost got into a fight with this guy working in a Kebab place in Bucharest because he was throwing racial slurs at me, but I reported it to a cop, but even the cop was racist because the cop took the racist guys side and did not let me explain my side of the story. I am never going back to Romania. I am sorry if you are on vacation in Europe, stay within Western Europe because people are a lot friendlier and at least are more educated.
I have a good friend from Poland who has been trying to get me to go there for years. I've always been like... "No, I'm good."

As a romanian i am sad to listen to your story and i am deeply sorry for my nation. All i can say is that i have many many friends of colour and always loved all coloured people from all nations because they taught me valuable cultural lessons. I have met many indians and people with african descent and appreciated their character and persona first but there is a history of racism and segregation in my country that i am ashamed of and that is against the gypsies who are seen as a rather inclined people to violence, crime and not wanting to take part of society. Since we were little we were taught to stay away from gypsies because they re famously known to steal your things or do magic spells on you. That is our 30 year background but things are changing in our country. We have many indians and africans already working here in the lower paid fields and many from India and Nepal or other areas who seek romanian soil to make a living. I see them everywhere delivering our food or doing other jobs and have no problem with that. We are growing as a people and changing, Bucharest is one ugly city and full of idiots, as a romanian i hate Bucharest. But there are many other places where you can feel welcomed and enjoy our country. I live in Iasi city which is one of the most beautifuliest in Romania. If you come here you ll find a place to stay. The problem many African governments haven't invested enough in further and higher education, there needs to be huge improvements why go to specific countries that don't like Africans, shame on Africa and shame on Ukraine will never support you.
It's a shame that education has became a buzzword. If you paid enough attention, you'd hear they were medical students. They may need some medically acknowledgement by the world to have medical education and their own in Africa isn't enough or discouraged. IDK the truth, but it looks like this is a probable reason to it.
Russia also allowed Africans in who went through medical schools, but they are well known to have experienced racism as well.

My sisters husband went to university in Russia - hes from congo. He had an amazing time there but he said in ukraine and poland. He experienced the worst racism. I think the reason for this is because Russia has always been exposed to Africans and even have a history of Russian Africans whereas Ukraine and Poland do not…as much. But to be fair. Racist people are still outnumbered in Ukraine.

Their are notable universities in Afrika. Many of the leaders were educated in them. It depends on what type of education you seek. Some countries other than Afrika offer better programs in different fields of study. Until education is free thru university level Afrika will suffer utilizing that colonizing system. They didn't want to go to Africa, they might not be able to return to Europe. So all these African students were trying to get to another European country. If you watch the videos you can see the names of the stations, they were at stations only heading deeper into Europe 😂 they even said they wanted to get to Poland. A country in Europe that tolerates zero immigrants ffs.

We saw the racism in the Ukraine at the beginning of the war with Russia. Ukraine allowed all the yt refugees to leave Ukraine but prevented all the Black Ukrainians from leaving the country saying, “they had to stay and fight the war”.
How true is this though? By law only Ukranian men are drafted. I don’t deny some small instances happened of corrupt recruiters doing this but only Ukranian by law can be given draft notices in Ukraine and foreign citizens being drafted is rare occurence there as its against the law

My expirience from Oslo last year. While walking in Sørkedalsveien street, two ukrainian guys were walking and in opposite direction one black guy was coming. He was little bit scruffy, maybe drug addict, but anyway, A PERSON. One of these two guys literally spat on him. I was shocked.
