    Agree 100%. Don’t waste your money on winterizing kits. We just shock the pool and in the Spring pool off the cover and it’s clean. Great video!

    Simple and straight to the point. I needed to hear that you don't need winter chemicals because I wasn't putting none in anyways. 🤠 thks

    I live in the northeast it gets frigid here , everyone I have used the pillow in the winter it ends up moving , the strings break , I have had my above ground pool 18 years . I just shock my pool before closing , do not use a closing kit . Years ago pool companies use to tell you to put a bottle of antifreeze in your skimmer when closing , my pool company mixes this for me , it will prevent your skimmer from cracking , mine has never cracked ..

      I have had the same problem with the pillow. All I do is shock the pool. I do not use a closing kit. I drain the pool down below the skimmer before I close it

    Great video! Do you siphon off any of the water and debris that accumulates on the cover during the winter?

    Hi .... nice video and I’m going to try it with my pool tomorrow . But the thing I need to ask why the water on top ?? Isn’t that what you don’t want?

      Have to be able to step on it and touch the floor. So maybe 50% full his will pop needs to breathe for the water pressure on top.

    Thanks for video very helpful. I am first year pool owner. Should I return the chemical close package I got from amazon because I haven’t used it yet I’m waiting on cover to arrive. One more thing what happens to the rain water and snow that collects on top of cover ?

    • @helpfultipsathome999
      @helpfultipsathome999  Před 4 lety +1

      If you look at the chemical closing kit it is probably two or three bags and one of them is definitely going to be a bag of shock. Just vacuum the pool and Shock it within 24 hours of putting cover on you will be fine. As far as the cover you always want to leave some water on it because that helps to keep it from blowing around or blowing off but you can pump off some of the water if it gets to be too much. Do not try to scrape or chop the ice or snow as your rip the cover.

      Helpful Tips At Home thank You I just processed the return and I will do as u said, vacuum, shock it, run the filter 24 hours, backwash and drain the filter same time as lowering the pool cover below the skimmer hole or return hole ? And then cover and pray 😄

    • @helpfultipsathome999
      @helpfultipsathome999  Před 4 lety

      You do not have to run your filter for 24 hours. Just run it the normal amount of time you do. Cover the pool within 24 hours of shocking it. Backwash and drain down the water level before you cover it

      @helpfultipsathome999  Před 2 lety

      No. All pool closing kits come with shock. Don’t waste your money on them just use a bag of shock

    isn't your pillow over inflated?

    • @helpfultipsathome999
      @helpfultipsathome999  Před 4 lety

      I put a little extra air in it to compensate for the lower water level of the pool.
