How much shock do recommend? 10,000 Gallon pool?
I would use one bag they typically treat between 10 and 12,000 gallons
@@helpfultipsathome999Thank you!
I have a same liner
Thanks
What kind of vacuum are u sing and where did u purchase it
It’s robot. I purchased it on Amazon
Simple and straight to the point. I needed to hear that you don't need winter chemicals because I wasn't putting none in anyways. 🤠 thks
I live in the northeast it gets frigid here , everyone I have used the pillow in the winter it ends up moving , the strings break , I have had my above ground pool 18 years . I just shock my pool before closing , do not use a closing kit . Years ago pool companies use to tell you to put a bottle of antifreeze in your skimmer when closing , my pool company mixes this for me , it will prevent your skimmer from cracking , mine has never cracked ..
I have had the same problem with the pillow. All I do is shock the pool. I do not use a closing kit. I drain the pool down below the skimmer before I close it
Thank you!
Great video, useful tips, good job!
Where do u live and how cold it gets my friend
NY. Gets down in the teens sometimes
Just shock doesnt effect theiner threw the winter with that big piece of ice
No. All pool closing kits come with shock. Don’t waste your money on them just use a bag of shock
Interesting will the water get frozen and brake the liner
Great video! Do you siphon off any of the water and debris that accumulates on the cover during the winter?
No. Unless really high
Pillow is waaaaay to full
Have to be able to step on it and touch the floor. So maybe 50% full his will pop needs to breathe for the water pressure on top.
Good job. Very helpful. Thank you.
Love the pallet wrap idea, smart!
Thank you sooooo much for this!!!!!
Hi .... nice video and I’m going to try it with my pool tomorrow . But the thing I need to ask why the water on top ?? Isn’t that what you don’t want?
Sorry for the late reply At little water is ok it helps to keep cover down when it is windy
Nice video! Good job. Surprised to see a New Yorker wearing a Skynyrd shirt. 😀
Thanks. Skynyrd is one of the best concerts I’ve been to .
great video very simple and helpful. Thanks a bunch!!
Glad it helped .
This was super helpful!
Glad to hear !
Agree 100%. Don’t waste your money on winterizing kits. We just shock the pool and in the Spring pool off the cover and it’s clean. Great video!
Thank You,
the best pool cleaning video I've seen thus far and an actual step by step very nice. these other videos aren't helpful at all than you!
Thank You, glad the video was a help.
I have no pool heater. My pool get sun most of the day
It is a 15 round. There is sand under the liner. Plus a pool liner pad which gives you a little more padding.
What size and type/brand of pool do you have? Did you place sand under the pool when you put it up. Do you do any type of pool heating? Thanks
Winters can be very harsh.
We live in New York.
Thanks for your video. It was very helpful. What part of the states do you live in? Do you get harsh winters?
isn't your pillow over inflated?
I put a little extra air in it to compensate for the lower water level of the pool.
He’s back! Yes!
Thanks for video very helpful. I am first year pool owner. Should I return the chemical close package I got from amazon because I haven’t used it yet I’m waiting on cover to arrive. One more thing what happens to the rain water and snow that collects on top of cover ?
If you look at the chemical closing kit it is probably two or three bags and one of them is definitely going to be a bag of shock. Just vacuum the pool and Shock it within 24 hours of putting cover on you will be fine. As far as the cover you always want to leave some water on it because that helps to keep it from blowing around or blowing off but you can pump off some of the water if it gets to be too much. Do not try to scrape or chop the ice or snow as your rip the cover.
Helpful Tips At Home thank You I just processed the return and I will do as u said, vacuum, shock it, run the filter 24 hours, backwash and drain the filter same time as lowering the pool cover below the skimmer hole or return hole ? And then cover and pray 😄
You do not have to run your filter for 24 hours. Just run it the normal amount of time you do. Cover the pool within 24 hours of shocking it. Backwash and drain down the water level before you cover it
You don't add chlorine?
Shock is chlorine. But I use a DE filter pump along with a mineral filter cartridge called nature 2. All I need to do is shock the pool once a week
Whats that blue cannister on top?
That is a mineral filter called Nature 2 Using this and a DE pool filter pump all I have to do is shock the pool once a week
Thanks for the tip about winterizing kits --

can you clean the old filter with a hose and re-install
You could but I would not recommend it. Just replace it.
