    What next? You going to do a piece on a tail section of a plane that you have there? If you do not have the plane, don't do a piece on it. Looks bad..

      Daniel thanks for the comment. In this case, as with some other aircraft we have done, the balance of the airframe was too badly damaged to restore or display. I can see your point doing a flap or rudder but many times the cockpit section of a plane/airframe is all that survives. This aircraft had a serial number, had a combat history, and as was operated by a crew. It would be disrespectful to them - or the crews that operated the type - to say they are not worthy of recognition. Many museums display and curate portions of historically significant aircraft that have been recovered. We have over 73 planes/airframes in the inventory. This won't be the last one we review that is not flyable or has been significantly damaged/reclaimed at some point. Our mission is to save, curate what we can, and remember the service of our pilots and crews - that many times made the ultimate sacrifice.
