My Grandfather flew the first C-133 from Long Beach to Dover in 1956. He was part of the C-133 project from the beginning. When he retired from the Air Force in 1964, he was hired on at Douglas in Long Beach as a C-133 pilot to fly the Apollo capsule parachute tests out in El Centro for NASA. I took him to Travis AFB to watch the last air worthy C-133 land in 2008.

I’ve read somewhere about the V-22 having too short rotors due to design limitations, primarily the folding requirements. The V280 doesn’t have that so should be more stable I guess. Bell is also looking at building an attack-reconnaissance drone tilt rotor similar to this. I suspect the attack and general reconnaissance roles will heavily shift to unmanned systems going forward, with the patterns and development coming from the Ukraine conflict
