She passed in real life before the season started filming. Unfortunately, she had to be killed off. Sad.
She actually had acted in several scenes in S6 but they had to rewrite parts of the script and change scenes she was in / would've been in.
R.I.P 🙏🏻
Filming started in January 2021, Helen passed away April 16, 2021. She filmed a little before she passed.
Helen mccrory was battling cancer during season 5. But never made her diagnosis public.
@@rosemarmion1655So terribly sad 😢
If you are curious about the time between Season 5 and 6, Season 5 was pre-covid, Season 6 started filming near the end of lockdown. (This is also why the Billy Boys are mostly absent from Season 6, because Covid Restrictions meant they could only have so many actors working on the show)
It's honestly sad how much outside factors changed the script for Season 6.
Helen McCrorys was Damian Lewis' wife, the actor that played Major Richard Winters in Band of Brothers.
And Brody in Homeland (another great show imo)
And Axe on billions
@@meitsallme911 That's where I first saw him too! Love that show!
And Dreamcatcher.
I hope he's been okay since 😪
It was brutal in between these seasons I think it was well over 2 years in between.
Helen McCrorys passing definitely altered how this season was originally wrote and planned.
The "I have become a more calm and peaceful person" while pointing a gun at people after beating them kills me everytime 🤣
😂😂
THREE YEARS!! The season was meant to start filming in 2020 but Covid happened. Helen McCrory sadly died so the series had to undergo a major rewrite. When filming restated covid restrictions forced more rewrites as a limited number of actors were allowed on set. Also a lot of stop and start of production due to staff covid illness. For these reasons the series seems a little disjointed and hurried but it's still one of the most compelling dramas on television.
Yeah i was curious if you knew about Polly before recording. It's a sad shame she passed away from Cancer before filming for season 6 so this story line allowed them to transition without her in an explainable manner. RIP to Helen. She owned that role that's for sure.
Yes the actress who played Polly Gray passed away from cancer during the shooting of this season. This season was also shot during covid so there was a lot of things they had to figure out. The crew, actors etc all decided to honor her in the show so when you see them watching funeral that is their real emotions as they are saying goodbye to her. She was very much loved by the cast and crew as well as anyone who worked with her. Genuine one of the best to ever do it. May she rest in peace and the memories she created never be forgotten.
In case you guys are not already aware, a Peaky Blinders movie is currently in production.
@@rizzyknows It seem like not many people are aware about a movie being made and releasing soon…
@@TheKing205013-4 years is not soon enough 😂😂
The movies that follow these Netflix series usually suck… here’s to hoping for a decent movie!
We are aware. We found out right after we finished the show.
Tommy shooting the pigeon in the pub was a reflex from the war. Messenger pigeons were used to communicate, so soldiers started taking out pigeons every time they saw one.
Plus they're very, very tasty!
- The Flanders Pigeon Murderer.
At 27:00 the Romani words being used roughly translate to kill the little girl or death of the little girl and Beng means devil. So the two meaning we can guess is " The Devil will kill the little girl" or "The daughter/girl of the Devil will die"
I wonder how season 6 would’ve gone if Polly had lived
Less screen time for Aida I would assume
If the actress who played her didn't die of cancer in real life, the show would have ended a lot differently, I bet.
Then she definitely killed Michael
@@shrutig-g5w i actually don’t think so. i feel that if polly lived, they would’ve went a different route. including micheal’s story. polly being killed off in the show is micheal’s biggest ambition to kill tommy. had polly not been killed off, i think the story would be completely different. including who the main villain is. i always thought the original villain before the rewrite was either gina(without micheal’s knowledge) or some big family reveal on gina’s side that we never got to see.
It was a 3 year wait from season 5 to season 6, and then being a fan in Canada, having to use a VPN in order to watch it each week as it aired in the UK 😂😂
Guys, Helen died in April 2021. They had already started shooting scenes for season 6. They reshot some of those scenes after she passed. She apparently was keeping very busy on several projects including a stage production she was doing, and had told very few people about her illness so as not to influence or effect the show. Brilliant actor. Only 52 yrs old. Tragic. R.I.P.
Steven's "oh yeah" reaction to hearing the Solomon's name 😂 26:06
Another brilliant reaction. You guys said you're sad that the show is coming to a close, but I'm also sad that your reactions are coming to a close! So good to see you both so invested in the show + with such great analysis. I've watched the show through twice (once in real time waiting between seasons + then rewatched it all together just before this season was released to refresh it in my mind), but you guys bring new view points and ideas and it's great to 'share' the experience with people who really enjoy all the good things about this show. Thanks for your great work.
Cillian's mother was a French teacher so thats why Tommy speaks the language so well 😊 That he manages to speak with a Birmingham accent is a credir to his musical ear!
Helen was one of my favourite actresses. I remember seeing her as a child in an episode of Dr Who and just fell in love with the way she held herself, her facial expressions and dialog.
She did an interview here in the UK on the BBC just before she passed away and she looked so, so poorly and weak, but kept smiling and laughing. When she passed away I felt numb for a month and I balled my eyes out knowing she was in that third bag in this episode of PB. The send off for her was beautiful.
I would recommend watching Penny Dreadful just for her. She plays a villain to perfection!
Just like I feel Tommy is one of Cillian's best roles, so too, imo, was Polly for Helen McCrory. When I watched this episode when it first aired, I felt so sad, but I thought her Peaky send-off here was well done.
They start filming the movie in September.
What’s funny is Michael brought this same energy and “I’m going to take revenge and destroy this family enterprise” in the Animal Kingdom show.
Underrated show
A movie is coming out so you can react with us 😅
the whole season is wild you gonna see some pure cinema in for a treat
I remember watching this episode when it came out, and I sobbed. The pain and grief on each characters face with the passing of Aunt Polly/Helen McCrory was real. A final goodbye. She was my favourite female character in PB. So poignant. Rest in peace Helen❤😢❤
3 more weeks of peakyy!!
Yep. It’s been an awesome journey
What a phenomenal actress. RIP
Tom in the beginning is like where’s the snooze button haa😂 RIP Helen Mcroy 🙏
31:03 she was is James Bond, not in mission impossible
There is a movie in production now.❤
The tears were real 😢
Did you watch the Queen's Gambit!? It's a miniseries with Gina's actress as protagonist. It is one of the most brilliant show I've ever watched. I highly recommend it to you😊
She's not much of a chess master in this show, given how easily Tommy played her. 😆
Highly recommend Taboo written by Tom hardy and his dad, as well as the Steven Knight who created and wrote Peaky Blinders. Show stars Tom Hardy as the main character in 1800 England. Came out in 2017 but due to scheduling conflicts and than covid the second season was just written this year and should come out by next year. I’m rewatching season one and it’s great
Yes! I think they would love that show
Patiently waiting for the second season.
If I recall, he struck a deal with Steven Knight to appear in Peaky Blinders if he’d make Taboo with him.
@@mattseaton3521 not sure about that. Possible. I just know they both speak very highly of each other and i can’t wait to see what they produce with season 2
Its incredibly sad that the Actor that plays Arthur is actually in a real dark and bad place in real life 😢
In previous seasons we think we're seeing Tommy on demon time being violent and ruthless and even volatile. But the moment he sits at a bar and orders a glass of water we realize if old Tommy was on demon time, new Tommy Shelby is about to become Satan himself
Helen Mcrory was an amazing actress. Yes! The writer said Helen was not replaceable and they can’t recast it
She was such an effortless actress. Her passing hit hard 💔
@@lamisbadra4278 she absolutely was amazing, but there is no way they’d recast a main character in a show like this in season six.
Season 6 and 7 were confirmed. They shot for a few months and then Helen passed, so that's when they rewrote everything to wrap up with season 6.
Good news guys I just saw a report that there is a Peaky Blinders movie in the works. Hopefully it's true
You guys should watch Interview with a Vampire. It's one of the best shows out there right now!
Plínio from brazil here ❤
You guys should watch "The Wind That Shakes The Barley" a Ken Loach movie from a few years back. Its the first time I became aware of Cillian Murphy
Impressive that an Irishman is speaking French in a Birmingham accent. Incredible attention to detail.
At 13.47 "Hawk Tuah"!
At min 2 you say you aren’t sure what that is about, he’s a gypsy and has deep spiritual beliefs that originate from gypsy culture which relates events to symbolic events.
😢😢😢 RIP Helen! 😢😢😢
Tommy Shelby is Jack Sparrow of Gangsters World
With all the adversity they had to deal with while filming the last szn I thought they did a pretty phenomenal job tbh. Really hyped for the film
Polly was a amazing character, Helen McCrory were a incredible actress. Polly was the Rock and Heart of the Shelby Family!
Arthur is the Keith Richards of Peaky Blinders. Peace …
Finally ❤❤❤
11:48 As a native speaker, he really does
Especially this part you barely hear any accent
This season is pure art through and through. the cinematography, the acting, the writing, the drama, the supernatural elements. Chef's kiss🤌🏽😘
Just imagine the season we could've had. They had barely started production in March 2020 when everything locked down. By the time things opened up again, Helen McCrory had passed. They had to completely rewrite the season to account for her absence and post-covid filming restrictions. If the writing seems to suffer this season, that's why. All things considered, I think they did a decent job, but I can't help but wonder about the story they originally planned, with (among other things) Aunt Pol alive and well throughout. I bet it would've been spectacular. Fuck cancer and fuck covid-19.
They are making a movie. Its not done yet.
Thought the way they handled her death was so classy. LLP❤
Keep it up 🥰
"I have no limitation"
After that, ending in season five, it wasn’t even clear there was going to be another season. It was a nightmare.
Rest in Peace to the great and beautiful Helen McCrory
18:44 For you, John Woo. 😂
Right lmfao
In the bleak midwinter
Apart from the impressive accuracy I'm not sure if you know why Tommy shot the bird. It was an alarm, someone released it so that other people outside of the tavern would know the people in there were in need of reinforcement.
Fully recommend SAS Rogue heroes, another BBC show. Or ' No offence' brilliant British police show .
Apparently, Michael thinks he's playing chess with a chess master and is winning. Unfortunately, he hasn't realized he's playing checkers, and will always be six steps behind, instead of 3.
Ambition is a dangerous thing, if not tempered...
My name is THOMAS SHELBY and I have NO LIMITATIONS 🔥🤌
Jack Nelson is supposed to represent Jack Kennedy yes tje Jack Kennedy
Jack Nelson is supposed to represent Joe Kennedy, father of John (Jack) and Robert.
I have no limitations
Let's goooooo
Miquelon is pronounced Mikkel-On. It's in Canada but is French territory.
A movie is coming of Peaky Blinders... now...❤
Michael wanting to fight with big people
in the end it's Ruby who saves Tommy
Waiting for season 6 to start sucked and then to find out the actress who played polly died of cancer explains why they had to write the season the way they did I wonder if she lived how this season would have been what tragic loss of a great actress.
How else you gonna write polly dying that would somewhat make sense ....
Not sure but it’s a tragic story regardless
Helens passing sort of ruined Peaky Blinders for me, whether consciously or not
Not sure if there make a movie now
Netflix confirmed the movie is coming and will begin filming in September
It’s been confirmed it is coming out. Idk how I feel about it. This is my favorite show ever but a movie could either be an amazing end to the whole thing or could turn into a dumpster fire. There were rumors about spin offs and prequels etc which I think would ruin everything. Hopefully it’s 1 movie, the final “episode”.
@@PLC11 1 movie would be great. If it does good maybe another 1
@@justinpeck6015 I always have an issue that when things do great they continue to suck it dry by adding more seasons and more movies etc. one of the things I respect the most about Steven Knight is he understands this and that is why he refused to do another season even though the ratings were through the roof. Shows like GoT, lost, the blacklist, etc. too many seasons, you get lost in the writing, you get lost in the plots and side plots etc.
so I hope for one amazing final episode movie and that’s that. It’s my favorite show by a mile, so don’t get me wrong I would love more, but I don’t want it ruined
It's all Fynns fault
Personally, i thought this season had a pretty slow & fairly mediocre first couple episodes. Thankfully the second half made up for it.
This is the most depressing season
The time jump between the seasons ist really lazy writing. Now the billy boys suddenly just happen anymore. WTF?
Duke stinks ...and so does this season its like different people made it
This season is the worst season of the show unfortunately
Enough peaky blinders no one cares about it
Oh ok. We’ll just stop uploading here
Michael being mad at Thomas because of Polly's death is dummer than the Sand Snakes storyline in GOT.
I feel he is the least intimidating person. Finn frightens me more and he is a dumbass. I feel trying to make him a player instead of just an annoyance wad only due to them having to rewrite.
