Great Video! So excited for warmer weather!
Thank you for watching. This 82 degree weather has be itchin.
Great video, glad to see you back at it...
Thanks sir. That was my first red of the year.
Looked like a great time! Look forward to the next video!
Thank you, Randall. I appreciate your continued support brotha!
Yewww! Can't wait to see that spot lock be a game changer for you man!
It’s already been a dream so far. I can’t wait for warmer weather and the summer fish to move back our way.
Glad to see you had a productive day, nice red!
Thank you Philip! I’ve been excited about getting back to the water!
Only thing missing from this video is me with a fly rod 🤣🤣. Killer stuff man! Glad to see you back after them.
You are right man. I need another day like this one to try it again.
Your gonna enjoy that spot lock offshore!!! Finally got mine about 2 months ago. Fishing hasn't been to hot but I've enjoyed using the new terrova. Gonna be a fun year!
That’s the same one I got! I’m so pumped about it because it’s already allowed me to pick apart an area like never before.
Great Video Eric! Awesome content my friend.
You are the man, John!
Appreciate the honest review man.
Yeah dude. I just put it for sale on eBay as of 9pm this evening. I’d rather have a lighter reel and it being sealed doesn’t matter to me because I don’t put it in situations to be sandy or submerged. Someone else’s gain…
@@ericwilliamsfishing Normally I'd be telling you to hold that thing for me, but I'm not spending a dime until we close on our new place in Wilmington, lol. I only say that cause I am a Penn guy and I'm playing with fire with my Daiwa Eliminators for my surf rods
@@reelsaltkitchen yeah dude. Stick with what you have until Daiwa and Shimano come out with something special.
Thanks for the review. I’m a Shimano guy and was considering ordering a 2500DX due to all the hype. Think I’ll hold off and stick with what I have 😉
Yeah, you will be disappointed at how stiff and heavy it is. I’m selling mine on eBay right now and plan on replacing it with a new Nasci.
Man, I've been thinking of red fishing ALL winter. Thanks for a little fix! I just might have to go down to Wilmington this weekend.
Haha. No problem buddy. This is the first time I’ve found a school in about 4 trips.
Love your honesty, thanks. I am considering the reel for kayak fishing where my reels get a hammering and dunked regularly, but I hate the look of that tiny foam reel handle on the 2500, cheap and no way is going to last.
Yeah. That’s all it is too is foam. You can probably replace that with an aluminum alternate. I think it would be great for that use.
Digging it man. I know thay spot lock its nice. I'm thinking about upgrading mine. Couple beautiful Reds.
I don’t think I’ll ever fish without one again.
Like that you gave your honest opinion. I've said it once before on your page, but I'm a big daiwa dude. I still need to give the nasci a try, but fuegos and bg's are hard to deviate from for me. Thanks for the vid man
I really like the Fuego too and it’s a hard reel to beat for its price point. I’m not a fan of the BG because I’ve had a lot of issues with the spool bail wire bending on me. The Legalis is another favorite of mine, I have two that I fish regularly. I won’t advise someone to spend $340 on a reel if it doesn’t feel like it’s worth it.
That 2020 Saltiga is a masterpiece!
Real healthy-looking reds!
Yeah dude. I was pumped when I saw that first school come through. All I could think about was the frying pan 😂
I have a 5500 slammer iv dx on order, ordered it like 3 days ago, I think its going to be a nice one for smaller sharka
If you are a Penn fan then I think you will love it.
Lol, "I don't think I like it", love the honesty! That's why your channel and your career will continue to grow Eric! Those hookups were sweet!
Thank you, brotha. I actually put the reel on EBay last night 🤣. Man I was hoping that the camera would pick up the fish a little better but the wind chatter on the surface and glare milked up the clarity. I appreciate the love - we need to get together and try to make a collab video.
No doubt!
Hows the slammer 2500 dx holding up now after a few years?
I sold it after a month. Hated it. lol.
I agree on the Penn reels, they are nice reels but for some reason for me they feel not only heavy but off balance when reeling. I went to Tex tackle a couple years ago and told him to set me up with the best inshore set-up. He handed me a 7' rod with Shimano Nasci FB, loved it since I got it. Went to Tex last week and got a Stradic.
I have Penn slammer 7500 & 8500 reels for shark and tarpon fishing that work great but my last 2 larger reels I got were Diawa BG, I find myself fishing with the BG's most of the time, just something about them feels better.
We have a similar experience except I find myself using the Nasci’s and Daiwa Legalis. I don’t like the BG’s as much - even though they do feel more structurally sound.
I'm mostly Daiwa and Penn myself and I love the BGs and the 2020 Saltiga is the best! But I do love my Slammer 3 and Spin Fisher 5 are both great reels and workhorses but it's all about using the right reel for the right job. I do have more and fish mostly with my Daiwa gear.
We have 24 spinfisher V 7500s for charters, done over 600 days over 8 years. We have replaced 10 bail arms in that time, nothing else, not one breakdown other than user error by reeling the swivel tight to the rod tip. Can not recommend the penn reels more highly, we also have many slammers for yellowtail fishing, and half a dozen Authoritys for personal use, they are the best reel I have used in my 55 years of fishing
I don't think the 2500 is built the same way the higher models are. Have you tried the Slammer IV in higher models?
I haven’t. I couldn’t find one at the time any larger than this one. It was a demo model and it’s since been sold.
Penn Slammer IV DX or Penn Battle III DX ?
Up to you buddy. All about budget but I’d look elsewhere if it’s for casting.
only a 😺 reckons a 2500 reel is too heavy
Maybe I'll pay more attention to your reviews since I value your opinion so much. I'll also repeat the same comment and follow suit since you are too busy to think of two separate troll comments.
@@ericwilliamsfishing i wouldn't want U to break one of your manicured nails on your super heavy phone replying though.
