Just another note, disconnect the battery when changing anything electrical in your car so you dont short out anything, and don't change the bulb when your car is on

I pulled the wee bulb out of my old Tracker, and the filament (?) seems to be fine, but the metal ends of the bulb look a bit corroded. I'm hoping a new bulb will work, and it's not the wiring that is a mess. ~ Thanks for the video!
On my Nissan Sentra 2001 the bulb says 12v 8w and when I went to AutoZone to buy the bulb they only had 12v10w bulbs i bought it still just to see if they work and when I insert one , the dome won't turn on. Does the wattage of the bulb matter? Or is it another type of issue inside the car
I have a 2000 Buick Park avenue. The dome lights do not have tabs I've tried pulling them out jiggling them out forcing them out afraid I'm going to break the light and cut myself HELP ME 😊
No, should fit either direction. The bulb doesn't "know" which side is positive or negative, it just needs a charge running through it (either direction) to light up.
I have a question. My dome light is working, but the on/off switch has lost its' grip. For example, when I try to turn it to the on position, it just slides loosely, there is no click or grip. Please help me figure it out! I don't want to go to a mechanic. Thank you!
Late getting to you... sorry about that. I just saw this. I think you'll probably need to buy a new "housing" for your whole dome light. It's not a really complicated repair, but it's certainly more difficult than just replacing a light bulb.

No, you need to find the bulb that your car needs -- look it up by make, model and year of your car. You can go to an auto repair place and ask for help, and they can find you the exact bulb you need. Shouldn't cost more than maybe $5.
Hmmm..... well, assuming the bulb you installed is good and it is properly installed, then that means you have some problem with the electrical system. It could be the dome light receptacle / fixture, or some of the wires leading to it. It could be there is a fuse burnt out that just needs to be replaced. (Sometimes the fuse box is under the hood, sometimes it's tucked below the dash board on the interior of the car--but either way, changing fuses is cheap and easy.) I'm sorry that changing the bulb didn't fix it for you. You might check if other electrical systems are not working (like a bank of lights on your dashboard), which would indicate a fuse might be burnt out. Or, just locate the fuse box and find the one that corresponds with the dome light. If it's an electrical problem (like the wires aren't making the connection to the fixture), that's more expensive and a bit of a hassle. For a dome light it may not be worth fixing, depending on how old your car is.

It looks like there are LEDs that would fit, but I think I'll stick with the tungsten bulb--I like the color temperature of the light given off by the traditional bulb, rather than the LEDs. Do you use LEDs in your car?
Yeah I'm pretty sure they've been around for awhile. I recently put an LED light for my license plate light. It's 6000k and a lot brighter and even looks nicer in my opinion. You should check them out. Big difference especially at night. Stands out too.
