You did not show how you moved the ring gear ?
Great video on checking backlash! How much should the axle shaft slide left and right in the housing?
was that a different differential or did you replace the gear? the original was worn and therefore replaced?

Why did you force the ring gear over? Don’t you need the pattern taken as in normal operation?
Great vid my backlash is 11 to 12 is that acceptable on 7.5 10 bolt ?
You’ll want to aim for 6-10, but try for 8-9
I hope you still read these. I have a clunk clunk in the rear of my 11 mustang. Its let up and engage gas. I replaced the spider gears because they were worn. I didn't have this gauge but will be getting one. Can older gears be re-shimmed? I don't care about whining noises. I'm used to older cars lol. Its a 2011 mustang gt 130k on the clock and the gears aren't warn too bad i think its just in need of adjustment.
+Reallystockmustang You can reuse the shims for the new setup but you still have to set the gears up from scratch.
But you don't explain how to change backlash or did I miss that part??😂
